Q: If i plug in a power strip to this will everything plugged in work with an Alexa?
A: If you plug a powerstrip into a Geeni Smartplug and use Alexa to turn Smartplug on everything plugged into the powerstrip may turn on at the same time. I believe to isolate each item you want turned on individually will require it's own smartplug.
A: Yes you can manage their ecosystem from that one app. If you are planning on using IFTTT then you can install under their alternate app called "Smart Life"
Q: Will I be able to tell if I unplugged my curling iron with this Geeni Smart Plug?
A: No. But you will be able to set up a on/off schedule., as well as check if the switch is on via the phone app. You can then turn the switch off if you forgot to unplug your curling iron. I purchased this plug for exactly the same reason. My wife would always call me on her way to work and ask me if she unplugged her curling iron. Bought the Geeni, problem was solved.
