Q: Is this stove battery operated pilot
A: Yes, but in the event the batteries die you can manually light the stove and oven. The oven is a bit more difficult but can be done. I live off grid and this is great.
Q: When i pick this up can i transport it lying on its back or must it remain upright?

Solid Stove
This stove is dependable, nice for rental apartments. This is designed for heavy use. Haven't had any issues since we bought it, tenant has be raving about the stove. I would recommend if you looking for a cost saving model.

Great for off grid use
I was impressed. I thought I was ordering the same stove I had bought 10 years ago but this one was a full size and has a window in the door. It is wonderful.
