Koss Always
Too bad more people don't know about this brand. They alway make quality sounding headphones, even better than the high-end vanity brands. Unfortunately, they aren't always in Best Buy stores so you can't try them out or see how better they sound than the rest. These are DJ cans but I bought them for the gym. Other than the stiffness of the cords, which makes sense for a DJs, they are also pretty good for working out in the gym. Just make sure to wipe them down afterwards to prevent deterioration. They aren't necessarily noise cancelling but because they fit over your whole ear, the impact is almost the same in a loud, music-playing gym. They fit nicely over the head and come with a high quality carrying case. The detachable cord is brilliant as well and keeps the connecting cables unbent or frayed. I did plug them into my MacBook Pro one time while on the bike and got some signal problems. As in, the cable has a dial where you can change tracks and so if the cable is moving it can change music tracks. In my case, I was listening to Spotify but the cable kept turning on iTunes and playing music because of the moving of the cord while I was on the bike. No matter if I shut down iTunes, it kept trying to play music even though Spotify was already running. But that's not a major issue. Koss also comes with a warranty which is rare with headphones these days. As stated before, the sound quality is excellent, nice round sound--almost reminds you of the full, thick sound of old hi-fi systems.

Extremely solid and comfortable headphones
I recently moved offices into a noisier section of the building and wanted comfortable, around-the-ear style headphones to deaden most of, but not block all of, the sounds around me. Because I must answer a phone regularly, I needed to make sure that it kept most noise from outside and from the hallway to a minimum, while still allowing nearby sounds through. These work perfectly. With the long cord, I am able to get up and move around my office while still listening to music, and when the phone rings, they come off quickly without grabbing at my ears or glasses. The sound quality is such that I'm now able to quickly tell which of my music is 128kbps MP3, which is 256kbps AAC, and which is FLAC. With my gaming headphones or the earbuds that came with my phone, I couldn't tell the difference. These let the differences show through.

Awesome clarity and sound
These headphones are just AWESOME, I was looking at headphones that were $300, some noise canceling, some extra bass. The Best Buy employee showed me these as they were not in the regular headphone section but closer to Car stereo and DJ audio equipment in the back of the store. After they showed them to me I realized as DJ headphones they would have to be somewhat noise cancelling and have great audio to hear over the beats in the club. I could have gotten 2 pairs of these and still had money for dinner compared to Bose or Beats headphones priced at $300.
