Q: Does it support 2 d to 3 d conversion? In other words, can 2d content be displayed in 3d?
A: This TV implements Dolby Vision's capability to up-convert video to 4K and from 2D to 3D. You can adjust the 2D to 3D conversion through a number of presets or manually adjust with two sliders. It takes some playing to get the best effect for what you are watching when up-converting. It works great with my few 3D Blu-Ray disks as well (no playing with settings needed). It uses passive glasses; I bought a set of 4 for just $2.50 each ($10 total) online.
A: Yes,the 55UH8500 includes WebOS 3.0. I had an update pushed as soon as I connected to my network. Also the apps (like Netflix or Amazon Video) are installed from a network server, so they get updated before use. I can't compare WebOS 3 to older versions.
A: The remote works like a motion tracking mouse with a cursor on the TV screen. You use this mouse/cursor to select characters on an on-screen keyboard. It works better than I expected, but not like a touch screen or physical keyboard. Note that the TV has three USB ports so a bluetooth mouse/keyboard (or wired one) could potentially be attached, although I've read of some having problems with some third party products.
Q: Can you do screen mirroring from an apple or android device?
A: This TV supports Miracast, which is different from Chromecast or Airplay. Miracast works from my generic Android tablet and my galaxy S5 phone, but works differently from Chromecast and Airplay - you can find the details online. Miracast requires dedicating your device to video streaming, which Chromecast does not.
Q: CAN A FIRE STICK BE HOOKED UP TO THIS TV
A: I can't say for sure since I don't own a fire stick. But I think that it would work on this TV. It has 3 HDMI ports one of them works in both directions. If fire stick uses HDMI port I think it would work. The TV also has a USB port that will play movies and music from a memory stick or hard drive. Sorry I couldn't tell you for sure.
A: The brightness is fine, but the black levels are barely passable. I would go with a Vizio p series or Samsung 8000 or higher for a dark room.
Q: What are the VESA mounting measurements ?
A: VESA mounting is 300x300 requiring 4 M6 screws. Many screws came with it but I did not find ones needed to mount it on a bracket. It was replacing a TV already mounted and those screws fit fine so I had no issues. Easy! Hanging on wall best done with 2 people, not heavy but awkward and can't see what you are doing alone!
Q: Why can I have this item shipped to store for pickup at the Leominster store?
A: Because it's a terrible town and doesn't deserve this TV
