A: To answer your question directly, yes you will have a left over router. It's also possible to buy stand-alone satellite units. This might be more cost effective than buying the second bundle. (Although the cost of a single satellite can be pretty high unless you catch them on sale.)
Q: Can the 2.4 and 5 ghz bands be separated so as to show up separately on mobile devices?
A: Orbi app will tell you what frequency is connected to your device. You can not change the frequency. The system automatically assign the frequency. If your device support 5ghz this system will connect you device on 5 ghz.
A: Up to WPS3. Many devices do not yet support WPS3 and can only use WPS2.
A: We have 33 devices in our Orbi mesh, including 4 iPhones, with no problems at all. Some people complain about problems in their network when using the guest wifi option. For that reason, I keep that option off.
A: We had the same setup. You wont need the nighthawk as the Orbi is a router and the two satellites connects to the router thus creating a "mesh" full house coverage.
A: DearJuve, your landline has to be connected to your modem, The Orbi do not have a landline connectivity.
A: Yes. We use it for xbox in upstairs bedroom at about 600mps with minimal packet loss.
A: No. I've got one port going into a 4 port switch with no issues.
