Add an extra level of defense against intrusion with this Ring Alarm Contact Sensor. When attached to your window or door, this sensor alerts you the moment movement is detected, providing point-of-entry protection. Compatible with the Ring Alarm base station (not included) this Ring Alarm Contact Sensor sends alerts directly to your phone.
Q: Is the ring base station required or can the sensors be used alone?
A: Hi Lx, Yes. The Base Station is necessary for the Ring Alarm to function. Bilan J, Customer Satisfaction Specialist [email protected]
A: These are definitely OEM Ring sensors from the manufacturer. The nice thing about buying a 6-pack is that you essentially get one free, because the sensors individually and in 2-packs cost $20.00 each. I have a big house and was very happy to be able to buy these in bulk. They work great.
Q: Is there an audible sound when activated?
A: When the system is disarmed, there are settings in the Ring alarm system for these contact sensors that will sound a low volume tone/chirp to let you know when the door, window, etc. is opened and/or closed. You can fully control this option and disable it if you wish. You can even assign different tones to different sensors so for instance, the back door can have a different tone from the front door.
Q: Will sensors work without a base station?
A: No, The item Requires the Ring alarm base station
A: Yes it will alert your phone that a door has opened
Q: How many window sensors can be attached to one Ring security base
A: Not sure if it has a limit. But I'm up to 15 so far.
Q: Will this detect if glass is broken? Or is it just if a window or door has been opened?
A: No these are not glass break detectors. That’s the one “gap” in the Ring alarm lineup though with motion detectors in the right places not really necessary for most installations.
A: a CONTACT SENSOR would be used to determine if two surfaces are no longer in close proximity to each other. Specifically, it is used to determine if windows or doors area open/closed. This could not be used to determine if someone is touching your car or if someone is outside of your car within its proximity. Additionally, it can only act to evaluate if the doors and windows are open/closed if these sensors are within the range of the RING base station which is powered by a wall outlet. Therefore at best it would function when parked at your house assuming the contact sensor with within range of the RING base station and it would not function for example when you drive your car to work and it is parked there. I would suggest one use a car alarm or another such alarm system designed specifically for vehicles. I hope this helps.
