Prepare meals faster. This Samsung range has a 5-burner gas cooktop and dual electric oven. The large oval burner helps you create a family-sized meal. Plus, you can heat dishes at different temperatures simultaneously with the oven's Smart Divider and flexible temperature controls.
Q: Can you use both ovens at the same time at different temperatures?
A: Yes, but they must be within 100°F of each other. Also the upper oven should be the hotter oven and you need to remember it gets its additional heat from the broiler so the heat is above the item being cooked. This can be great to brown some things (like the top of a pie) but terrible of others that are looking for a maximum uniformity of temperature like a flan or bunt cake. The other thing to be mindful of is don't do a desert on the top oven and something heavily savory (especially with big aromatics like garlic or rosemary or fennel/anise) as these aromas and flavors will get into your food in the upper oven. The good thing is the lower oven doesn't have these restrictions and when the divider is out and you are using it as one large oven this does not apply.
A: Thank you so much!! I've been fighting this oven for over for 3 hours. I couldn't find anything on how to get it to work! Not on the internet, not in the manual!! You would think they would put something so important in there manual!
A: My wife and I have been researching these a lot over the last few days as our current oven just died. We want a gas range and electric oven. Per the Samsung lines you need to be careful if your looking for a gas range and electric oven. If it does not include the term "Flex Fuel" then it's either a gas range and gas oven or other models that are electric range and electric ovens. It looks like the term "Flex Duo" is referring to the oven's ability to be split into 2 separate ovens; it does not mean a gas range and electric oven unless it contains the term "Dual Fuel". The Samsung "5.8 cu. ft. Slide-in Dual Fuel Range with Flex Duo™ and Dual Door" (model NY58J9850WS) is a gas range and electric oven (splits into 2 ovens; flex duo). The Samsung "5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Gas Flex Duo™ Range with Dual Door" (model NX58K9850SS) is gas range and gas oven (splits into 2 ovens; flex duo). They do not make it easy to understand this difference. When you read the spec on the Samsung site it does not come out and say gas oven for the "NX" model but what it does not say is electric oven or flex fuel.
Q: Can anyone tell me what the BTU ratings for each burner are if using LP instead of natural gas?
A: Hi Lisa, The LP BTU ratings for the cook top burners on the new NY58J9850 Dual Fuel Flex Duo Slide-In Range are as follows: Right front - 16.5 LP; Right rear - 4K LP; Left front - 11.5K LP; Left rear - 7.5K LP; Center oval - 7.5K LP. The LP conversion kit comes packaged with the Range, and should be installed by a qualified gas installer. Samsung Slide-in Ranges do come with a filler kit to fill the gap between the back of the Range and the wall, but there's currently no back splash accessory available. I would suggest working with a kitchen designer for assistance determining possible solutions. Thank you! Ms. Samsung
Q: Is the electrical outlet required for this range 220v or 120v?
A: Hi Judith, The NY58J9850WS Dual Fuel Slide-in Range is rated for a 240V/60 Hz electrical connection to heat the oven in addition to a natural gas or liquid propane supply for the cook top burners. Thanks for your interest, Ms. Samsung
A: Be careful with the reading of dual fuel! I had to reorder because I wanted a Gas Stovetop with Electric Oven! The chef collection has that. But the dual fuel I originally got was Gas stovetop and Gas Oven with convention cooking! It had dual gas to the oven and stovetop. You just need to read the specs closely. I feel they use the dual fuel wording in different ways(confusing even for the workers I talked on the phone with...they had to research it form samsung)! Best Buy was great in letting me exchange it for the right model! They even let me try it for a month to see if I wanted to try the gas oven. But I have never cooked with a Gas oven so it took some getting use to. I exchanged after not feeling comfortable with the gas oven and LOVE MY CHEF COLLECTION! But it was much more in price! Love Best Buy very friendly and always willing to help you figure things out!!!
Q: Does this oven cook only on convection; can you turn off convection baking and bake regular?
A: Yes, the NY58J9850WS can bake with or without convection. Thanks for your interest, Brad! Ms. Samsung
Q: Does this dual Fuel operate on 110 or 220?
A: 220 volt. Either 40 or 50 amp circuit depending on size of appliance.
