A: Only one of the phones needs to be plugged into a wall jack. The other can be placed anywhere.

A: Yes you can. Both handsets are reporting back to the main base. Your second base is only a charging station. It doesn't matter which one the phones sit on to charge.

Decent phone
Decent phone for the price. Only thing is the wall mount base is garbage. It doesn't cover the phone plate totally. We had an older vtech phone and that base wouldn't work with the new phone.
