Q: Can it be used without hardwiring it
A: Absolutely. Comes with a battery which you charge via standard USB-C connector. Mine is wired, so not sure how long the battery lasts, but my guess is that normal usage maybe would require you to recharge 2-3 times a year (I'm fully guessing here). Net Net is that it's got a battery. It does not require wiring to an existing doorbell wire.
