Watch over what’s important at home with Stick Up Cam Elite, an indoor/outdoor camera that uses Power over Ethernet for nonstop power and ultimate reliability. It sends alerts to your phone, tablet and PC whenever motion is detected. Answer the alert, and you can see, hear and speak to people on camera from anywhere. Place it on a flat surface or mount on a wall for a more permanent placement. Connect to your router with the included PoE adapter so you’ll never have to worry about wifi dead zones or charging a battery. You'll also get a free 30-day trial of Ring Protect Plus, so you can save, review and share every video captured by your camera.
Q: Does the PoE adaptor need to be physically-connected (I.e. plugged in) to the home router?
A: Yes, unless you already have a preexisting POE switch connected to your router. The adapter turns your standard ethernet port into a powered ethernet port, i.e. POE.
A: Hello Mindbender, Good question! Yes the camera can be mounted to a soffit. Be aware, however, that wherever you mount the Stick-up Cam Elite, you will have to run an Ethernet cable to that location. Also, the PoE Adapter is not weatherproof and should not be used outdoors Your first consideration when choosing where to place your Stick Up Cam is how you're going to power it. Your Stick Up Cam Elite comes with a new feature called Power Over Ethernet (PoE) that allows your camera to draw power from its Ethernet connection. This will give you considerably more freedom when it comes to positioning up your camera, but means you will have to run an Ethernet cable to wherever you've decided to set up the camera, if you use the PoE feature. Q: Can you talk with people like the ring door bell
A: Yes you can hear and speak to people with this camera just like the doorbell units using the app on your phone or tablet.
Q: How long is the cord and does it plug into a regular out let. The ring outdoor stick up camera
A: no cord. You will need to run cat5 to it with a POE switch to power it up
Q: Will this work as a motion sensor to trigger the ring alarm?
A: Hello HelloThere, Great question! The Stickup Camera Elite will not trigger your Ring Alarm if motion is detected from the camera. If you have any further questions, please reach out to us directly at 18006561918. We look forward to hearing from you. -Jamila at Ring
Q: What is the range on these things? Can it detect motion from a third story window?
A: Hi Mike. Thank you for your question today! The Ring Stick Up Cam Elite has a motion detection field of view of 150 degrees horizontal by 85 degrees vertical. For the best results, Ring cameras typically work best when mounted approximately 8 to 10 feet off the ground. A third story window installation would be significantly higher than this recommendation, which may affect motion detection performance. I purchased the Ring Door Bell Pro at Christmas time and have grown to love it. So I thought I'd give this a try before buying more for the perimeter of my house. The ease of setup is yet again a solid 5 out of 5, the picture quality is a decent 4 out of 5, the delay time it takes to view the video feed is a 2 out of 5 and the siren is a sad 0 out of 5. I was excited to see that Ring came out with a POE option for security cameras. I had previously setup my home with CAT6 wiring for a different camera system before Ring came out with the elite option. The Ring Elite Cam was going to be more expensive than the NVR system I had planned to purchase, but I liked the fact that it would work cohesively with my Ring Door Bell Pro. I tried 3 of my CAT6 cables with the Ring Elite Cam and the time it took to view the camera from my iPhone Ring App was 8-9 seconds on a 150mbs download speed, which is substantially slower than my door bell which is on Wifi at 90mbs download speed. I thought for sure having the camera hard wired would have a faster response. I didn't expect to be impressed by the alarm on the camera, but I did expect a much faster response time that 8 or 9 seconds. The system I ended up going with, which is less expensive in the long run with 8 cameras, has a 1-3 second response time on each camera. I might try the 2nd or 3rd version of the Ring Elite camera for my guest house, but for now it just isn't up to the standards I was hoping to find so I returned it.

Camera works great. Has really good image quality and has a very long distance at night, unlike previous cameras I've had that couldn't see more than a few feet in front of them. I already had Ethernet cables running outside my house from previous cameras so this was plug n play, and worked immediately out of the box. A little pricey considering the lower model is half the price and is just missing the PoE, but didn't want to run new types of cables and they are too high up for charging batteries.
