A Modern Telling Of Pinocchio
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stanley Kubrick wanted to make this movie & so would bounce ideas off his good friend Steven Spielberg. But when Kubrick died unexpectedly, it looked like the project would have faded as well, but Spielberg took it up & has made a movie that not only is entertaining but will tug at your heart in so many ways you will always be able to repeat view it. Programming the proper responses into an artificial intelligence is one thing. But can a robot actually learn to understand what love truly is? Pure & hard core. Funny & sad. Mysterious & obvious. Plus, have fun identifying guest star's cameos. This is a masterpiece & belongs in every "permanent" collection.

A.I. - old school story, modern take
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A.I. is a blend of old school story telling and a more modern world issue of the struggle of the basic notions of the human condition and that of innocence. Without ruining the story for others, it is a story of a android boy and his quest to be loved. The greater story reflects how man's humanity has gotten lost through the world we have created. A.I. is a story that should appeal to younger age viewers and adults. It is not a typical fantasy story or sci-fi. It is a story about love, the need to be loved and the sacrifices made through life's journey of one little boy who just happens to be an android. The original filming of this movie is somewhat stylized and while it transfers reasonably well to DVD, it almost 'suffers' when brought to blu-ray as that hi rez goodness doesn't add much to the presentation of 1080p due to the nature of the original filming. However, this should not deter anyone from getting this well crafted humanist story. The audio is excellent and there is just a slightly better nuance to the visuals than the DVD version. Overall, it is not eye candy like some other movies (Lord of the Rings trilogy comes to mind) but certainly is not distracting either. The movie itself is usually a love it or hate it movie. I find those that love it are less about being entertained and find the story a reminder of our own struggles and the human condition itself. Those that did not like it found the ending to be somewhat trite and preferred a less low key and melancholia nature to the film. I am gad with my purchase and most likely will purchase for a couple of friends of mine who enjoyed watching it at my place and remarked they never seen a movie quite like this and they thoroughly enjoyed it. No one commented on the less than stellar look of the movie in blu ray.

Good movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie over all is awesome, the port over from DVD to bluray looks ok, the picture has multiple scenes were it looks way too grainy and other scenes that looks great and clear. Adjusting the sharpness on the TV wont really do you any good but Over all if you liked this movie and want yo see it look better then DVD quality? Then buy this copy before they are sold out and no longer being sold.

Bright, high contrast picture. Delightful story.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The studio expended time and treasure on this Blu-ray edition. The picture quality (upscaled) is near 4K. The audio (DTS-HD 6.1) (yes, 6.1) is clear with excellent ambient background. The story is an involving and surprisingly tender tale of a child android "adopted" then abandoned by its human "parents" leaving it to fend for itself in the world with the mentality and naivete of a child.

Spielberg and Kubrick
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hadn't seen this since 2001, the movie and special features make it worth owning this. Spielberg said that he did this for his late friend Stanley Kubrick.
