    Synopsis

    A Letter to Momo
Animator Hiroyuki Okiura returns after his 1999 feature Jin-Roh with this story of a teenager confronted by a handful of lively spirits. Momo is a 13-year-old girl who is still coming to terms with the recent death of her father. Momo and her mother have left their home in Tokyo and relocated to the island of Shio, an environment far different from what Momo has known. As Momo explores her new bucolic surroundings and meets her often eccentric neighbors, she frequently hears strange sounds in the house and discovers signs of mischief around the neighborhood. Soon Momo learns that she's being bedeviled by three strange creatures named Iwa, Kawa, and Mame. The curious beasts are actually spirits who are supposed to help guide the soul of Momo's father to heaven, but they crossed paths with Momo en route, and now they are trying to do their job and look after Momo while avoiding being seen by others. Momo e no tegami (aka A Letter to Momo) received its North American premiere at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A great story about a girl who regrets her fight with her father right before he passed away. She and her mother move to an isolated island where she encounters three spirits. Over the course of the movie, she discovers what they are there for. It's a slow but sure (and entertaining) tale of a young girl coming to terms with regret. The Blu-ray's A/V quality is top-notch with lossless audio and 1080p video. The extra with the humble director is entertaining (he did Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade 11 years prior).

I bought this on a whim. I read it was good but didn't really know what to expect. It is a beautiful story the type that leave the audience feeling good and refreshed. It was a lot funnier, at times, than I thought it would be. It's a tale about loss but well done and uplifting. The animation is nice too. This is my dark horse movie of the year, never saw it coming. Love it, have lent it to friends and they love it too. It's good for everyone.

this is an easy watch. it's cute and fun but also gets a little serious towards the end. the goblins will entertain kids but maybe a little scary for really young kids. a story about a girl dealing with moving to a new town and the passing of her father.

An anime movie that isn't from Studio Ghibli - but is just as good! While the story has some familiar elements - teenage girl who doesn't fit in, fantastic creatures who she befriends - the troubles these characters get into make for some hilarious scenes. A few of the lines will have you laughing out loud.

A heartwarming anime film for teens to adults, A Letter to Momo is about an 11 year old girl named Momo who moves to an island with her mom shortly after Momo's dad passes away. She meets not only a boy and his little sister, but three goblins. :)

A wonderful story, very playful. Not as magical as a Hayao Miyazaki film, though it certainly has its moments of fun. It's a great storytelling, and let Momo tell you her story.

My family loves the movies by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, and it looked liked this one would be in that style. It was and they all loved it! Definitely recommend it.
