    First 24 hour impressions

I haven't had these headphones for a full 24 hours yet, but I am choosing to write up this review because I am already impressed with these headphones. I originally purchased these headphones for two reasons... one was so I could have my late-night gaming sessions without disturbing my 2 year old daughter sleeping in the adjacent room. The other reason was because I wanted to feel more immersed in my games. When I took them out of the box, the first thing I noticed was how beefy they were, weight-wise. I've never had a set of headphones, wired or wireless, that have weighed so much so it worried me a little at first. That concern was assuaged pretty quickly after I put the headset on and felt the comfortable cushioning that kept the headset from feeling heavy on my head. I powered it on and it connected immediately to the USB dongle and after muting my TV I was ready to give these a shot. I opened up PUBG and started up a game. The audio sounded great... I could hear the direction of things far more clearly than just relying on my TV's built-in speakers. This had me immediately satisfied with my purchase. I love these headphones! The LED lights are a nice touch, but I find them to be completely superfluous, since when you're wearing the headphones you can't even see them. It's cool that the LED colors can be changed... but what is better than that is the ability to turn the LED's off completely. The cushions are supremely comfortable... though they do seem to trap heat after extended use. I find that just lifting them off for a moment and putting them back on is an easy solution to what is a pretty minor issue. Sound quality & comfort aside... There is one feature that absolutely had me sold on these headphones when I found out about it. I was tossed up between two sets of headphones and was leaning more towards the wireless one. One of the biggest concerns I had was that if the headphones ran out of juice, I would have to stop whatever I was doing and wait for them to charge. I had one set of wireless headphones in the past where that was the case. Even if I was in the middle of a game, if the headphones died... I was out of luck. I had to wait for them to charge because they would not power on while the USB charging cable was plugged in. There were no notes on this on the box, so I took a gamble and bought the headphones anyway. I was incredibly happy to find that these headphones allow you to charge them even while you are using them. Once I found that out, I was 100% happy with this purchase! TL:DR Version: Pros: comfortable headset, great sound quality, removable mic, can charge while using, ability to turn off LEDs if desired Cons: trapped heat can heat up your ears with extended use, can't use with PS4 One thing I would make note of... I noticed another reviewer complaining that the base part of the mic broke off when they were adjusting it. When I adjust the mic... I actually unplug it first. The mic is held in by a small jack and a small bit of black plastic. It is not sturdy by any definition of the word... so i'd recommend if you need to adjust the mic... DO NOT try to bend it while it is plugged in. I'm fairly certain it was not designed to be adjusted while plugged in.

I purchased the Performance Designed Products (PDP) AG 9 wireless headset to replace a set of AG 7's. I went with fully wireless in order to play Forza 6 at night without disturbing the household. Completely wireless was essential because my Logitech G920 steering wheel has no headset jack. The first thing I noticed was the sleek elegant design. The design is more compact and the look is much better than the AG 7 in my opinion. The visual adjustment wires on the AG 7 are no longer there. The headset size adjustment has been revised and looks better. The headset strap is more comfortable and made of one piece of material instead of thee. The material is also softer. The ear pads have a larger opening and fit better over my ears. PDP also revised the master volume and game/chat dials to have a shape that improves the feel. The AG 7 was smooth and it was hard to tell you were making adjustments. The placement of the dials is lower on the headset now, so it is easier to find and adjust. Chat is now accomplished using a removal mic boom rather than the retractable mic boom on the AG 7. This works much better and is very adjustable. Picks up my voice very well. The sound of the AG 7 was very good, however PDP has improved the balance and is much improved. Gun fire in Battlefield 4 with the AG 7 was a little bass heavy. The AG 9 is perfect using the Pure Audio mode. If you like more bass the Bass Boost mode will do the trick and really adds to the richness and power of the bass. The audio mode is now discernable with an upward ascending audio tone for Bass Boost, and a descending audio tone for the Pure Audio mode. The headset produces plenty of volume without any distortion. I like the green LED lighting on the headset when is use, however it is easily turned off by pressing the mode button for a few seconds. Battery life is outstanding. You can also plug the headset into a USB port to use them while charging if necessary. Wireless connectivity is very good. Mounting the Wireless transmitter on the side of the XBOX works best, however I have had no problem plugging it into one of the back USB ports. I have had no signal drop when gaming within reasonable proximity to the console. Excellent job PDP. You did a great job listening to your customers feedback and made some really good improvements.

    Some small issues

I've bought numerous headsets and controllers for the Xbox One. All, including controllers where made by Microsoft and all, including controllers (the mic ports in the controllers) have broken. Rather than purchase a fourth controller after my 3.5mm port broke, I decided to go wirelless headset, this way I would still be able to use all the controllers that had broken ports. This headset works extremely well. The sound quality and ease of use is great. The battery life is also pretty awesome, although I've grown accustom to just charge it after every use, I used to go days without charging. There are a few small issues. There are random occurances where I would turn on my Xbox and headset but would find the headset not working, the easy fix is just unplugging the dongle and plugging it back in. This happens once every week or two. Perhaps the most annoying is how "tight" the headset is. I have an average size head and after playing for awhile, I have to take off the headset because it gets uncomfortably tight.

This is a good stereo gaming headset for Xbox One, but not intended for adult sized male ears. The headphones do not cover my ears well and either the top of my ears or the bottom of my ears (depending on how I have it adjusted) start to hurt after about an hour of use. The cups are too small. I have normal sized ears, but would probably work well for a kid or teen. The sound is good, wish the volume control had a better range. Seems to either be high or low with minimal adjustment in between. Microphone is good and it is nice that it is adjustable. I have used this on my PC with the included 3.5mm detachable jack (not needed for the Xbox One). Although this is a nice set and I really like the true wireless for Xbox One, I will most likely pass this down to my 11 yo since the ear cups are too small for an adult male. I guess I will go back to my Astro A40's since they are more comfortable, but wired.

    Comfortable Wireless Headset and Mic

I checked out several headsets before choosing this for our new Xbox One X. I selected it based on the cost and overall features. It adjusts to fit nicely on my 11 yr old son and is big enough to fit comfortably on me. The mic separates from the headset so it can be taken off if you just want to listen. It's completely wireless and connects via bluetooth. The different colors in the headset are cool feature but the box didn't come with instructions. You can get them from the Afterglow website. It has mic mute, volume and chat/sound balance to get it to your liking. It's rechargeable and takes about 2hrs to charge fully. It can be used while charging, too. The only issue we had was the mic would get choppy for others during gameplay but disconnecting and re-syncing the bluetooth dongle corrected the issue. It's as though the bluetooth connection catches interference and doesn't adjust the frequency without re-syncing. Overall we're very happy with the headset.

They're pretty solid, and decent for the price. I don't know if it's just my pair, but there's a mild ringing or static noise in the background. I thought that would bother me more than it does, and after using them for a few days, I don't pay it much attention. It's got decent battery life and range when I walk away from my Xbox (not like, other end of the house, but more than enough than what I need for gaming). I've heard from friends that audio quality out is a little tinny, but doesn't make it inaudible, and I like that the mic picks up my voice when I talk, so I don't feel like I need to speak as loudly. I do wish the button to mute/unmute & turn them on and off felt more solid. And the beeping noises are a little shrill (enough to be picked up on by the mic), but that's pretty minor, at least for me. They're comfortable enough, though, like the buttons, can feel a little wobbly. I do wish I could position the mic more, though. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the headset. Would recommend for someone looking for middle of the road headset without putting too much down. Personally, I'll probably upgrade to a nicer pair before too long, but i do not regret the purchase.

Bought these after reading reviews, which is something I ALWAYS do before purchasing most anything. I realize with electronics it's hit or miss sometimes so I grabbed this headset (plus it was $25 off). After getting them setup and connected, I must say they were rather nice. The setup was simple, true wireless headphones was great, sound was good and finding that medium between game volume and chat was easy. The bad part came during chat. When I spoke, I'd hear myself say what I'd just said 2-3 seconds later. And after testing them with three individual friends online, thinking it may have been one of their headsets or internet connection(s), the "echo" was still present and they were hearing my echo as if I'd just said it. I guess it's latency? I don't recall anyone mentioning this problem in their review, but it happened to me. The echo was aggravating enough that I just returned them and got another brand. Also, I turned off each of my dual bands on router testing them to see if they were potential interference, but it wasn't.

Great product so far, no issues, I don't have to shout at the mic, and at the same time it doesnt pick up my breathing which is a big plus for me considering I am a night time player. Also, Sound quality is great, and it looks really slick when lit up. The padding on the top of the head is amazing, almost like gel. They feel very durable. The only cons I've found: - my ears are a bit too big for the ear cuffs and poke out, which can hurt after a while. - the battery low indicator is pretty loud, kinda hurts if your volume is up, and cuts your mic and sound out for like 3 seconds when it beeps. - the cord it comes with is not long enough to "play and charge" as indicated in the instructions. This can be easily fixed because the port on the headset is the same as your controller. - the mic is flexible, but it's pretty stiff, so it's kinda scary to bend at first, I honestly thought I was going to snap it but it did curve quite nicely after I moulded it. As for the charge, I charged it for the 2.5 hours as indicated and it lasted quite a long time, 2-3 days without having to plug it in.
