A: The arm rests are a very stiff foam/poly something covered; not a hard plastic, slightly softer. Picture below I'm pushing fairly hard with a pen.
A: They're not removable. They do have a little bit of swivel out of the way, however being familiar with playing guitar i dont think its enough to allow to play comfortably.

A: Yes it also can be adjusted back and forth, or left in free rocking mode with spring tension adjustment as well.
Q: Is this chair comfortable for a small person, like 5'4"?
A: This chair should be plenty comfortable for a smaller person, it can be lowered fairly far. The armrests are up/down adjustable, so the only possible issue is that the neck pillow may or may not be usable, as it could end up at the crown of your head.

It's incredible and reminds me everyday to click the link in the message they send me for any item I am looking for when it comes back around at that price point.
