Perfection
|Posted .My review may be biased but still 100% accurate. The Apple Mac Mini is a powerhouse. I love that it allows the ability to use the iPad Pro as the screen (when using Lumia). If you’ve ever owned a Mac or Apple product then you already know the quality you are getting. The sleek color and finish is silky smooth and emits zero noise when on. The new usb-c ports are fantastic as well!

Almost perfect
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought the 2018 Mac mini to replace the previous model that I had only bought less than a year prior. The difference is night and day. Where the old 2014 Mac mini would choke on just about everything, this new machine has handled every single thing that I have thrown at it, without hesitation. My only complaint is the paltry internal 128GB SSD, which I only use for temporary storage. I run the system off a larger external SSD. Also, while the RAM on this model is user upgradeable, Apple has made sure it's as difficult as possible. I ended up buying the 32GB RAM upgrade and taking it to a shop that specializes in Mac service and repair to get it installed. I just wasn't comfortable fully disassembling the computer to get to the motherboard. If you are looking to get the RAM upgraded and won't be doing it yourself, forget about taking it to the clowns at Geek Squad. They'll tell you they can do the upgrade, but when you call to make the appointment you get some sort of excuse about how they aren't allowed to touch any Apple computers (called 4 different Best Buy stores in my area and they all gave the same excuse). If you have an Experimac store near you, I highly recommend them!

Most bang for the buck!!
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I got it for $719 (Matched the Amazon price). I hooked it up to a 27” 4K LG monitor and WOW. Very impressive unit. Very responsive. In my opinion more responsive and more bang for your buck than a IMac. I had an IMac and sold it, replacing it with this mini. I’d say it’s a much better option overall. I also bought a 7 USB “hub” made by Insignia to make all the connections. That way I have eight total USB connections on top of the HDMI which runs the 4K monitor. I’m VERY pleased with Best Buy (N Canton) and with my new iMac mini!!

It's everything I need
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've been a die hard Microsoft fan forever, But of late, I've been very dissatisfied with Windows in general (and Windows 10 in particular). Having an iPad and an iPhone, I decided to try a Mac. Setup could not have been any easier, short of hiring someone to actually have done it for me. The learning curve coming from Windows was not very steep, which was very nice. And everything just WORKS.

I love my new Mac mini
|Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I love my new Mac mini. I think it’s much better than my old iMac. I like having a separate hard drive so that if something goes wrong with the computer screen, I can just buy a new monitor and not have to replace the whole computer. (My iMac monitor was unrepairable according to the genius people). I recommend hooking up external speakers for a much better sound experience. I tried connecting an old receiver through a USB port and the headphone jack. The USB port provides superior sound quality. I like using a receiver because I can crank the bass or treble when I want to. This Mac mini is so much faster than my old computer, it’s great. I like the Night Shift feature that greatly lowers the brightness on the monitor. It makes it easier to use the computer late at night without feeling you’re staring at a florescent light. I looked at a lot of different computers, at different stores and online and I’m really happy with this purchase. I want to give a shout out to Quinton at the Roseville store in MN. He provided outstanding customer service. I talked to another sales guy at that store about a week or so earlier and he was not nearly as helpful as Quinton. Apple consultant Troy was helpful too.

Mac Mini Majic
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I had a laptop that from 2009 so it was time to replace. I chose the mac mini because I already had a 1440 monitor as well as keyboard and mouse. My other products are apple so the integration is a breeze. Obviously the speed and upgrades from my laptop are great. What surprised me the most is you cannot hear it when it is on. I also enjoy the versatility it provides as yes I can move the desktop around as it is so small yet powerful. I use it as a desktop for productivity as well as the central device for all my products for storage. Great device for my needs.

A Mac mini makes it easy to switch
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've gone back and forth between PC's and Apple many times. As a computer person you tend to accumulate bits and pieces over the years. Thats why buying a MacMini makes it so simple. you use your PC keyboard and mouse and your monitor and just plug them in the Mac mini. Everything works correctly right away and I don't even have to format my back-up USB drive to use with a Mac, it reads the files as they are. and if you feel the need of using Windows in some capacity you can do that too with a Mac. Since I've had different computers in my home over the last 42 years I think I am qualified to give an objective review in this case.

Q: QuestionApple stopped supporting PowerPC based Mac PC's via no more software updates about 3 years after going to Intel. If Apple switches from Intel to ARM based processors will this beautiful new Mac mini be obsolete in 3 years?
Asked by JamesT.
- A:Answer This is my 3rd Mac Mini. My first was a PowerPC version from early 2006. I ran into the obsolescence issue with the switch to Intel chips but was able to continue to use the machine and its legacy software until 2017, although I did not have it connected to the internet after 2011. Obsolescence can be a gradual thing, but it catches up to all of us.

Q: QuestionMy late model 2012 Mac mini has a 2.5GHz i5 quad core with internal 128gb SSD drive. Will this new Mac mini with Intel i3 perform substantially better than my current Mac mini to justify all this money?
Asked by GaryZ.
- A:Answer I own the same late model 2012 Mac mini, i5 2.5GHz. If the new Mac mini multi-core scores are between about 3 and 5 times higher than the 2012 Mac Mini 2.5GHz i5, that would even put it faster than my Dell XPS 3.6GHz i7. That would be nice! William, do you recommend the i3 or the i5? The research I have done so far indicates the i3 and i5 single core performance is about the same. However the multi-core performance of the i5 is at least 20% higher than the i3. What do you think?

Q: QuestionCan I hook this up to the back of my tv An us my tv as an monitor
Asked by Slowness.
- A:Answer You can if your Television uses HDMI. One thing to note, depending on your TV, you may need to go into system preferences and adjust the UNDERSCAN. Otherwise the top bar may be "hidden."

Q: QuestionCan I install Word. Will it be compatible with my iPhone email programs?
Asked by Roscoe.
- A:Answer You can install Word if you already own it. I wouldn’t buy it though. Mac computers come with an app called Pages which is a great document editor/publisher. It can open and save Word documents (you may have some formatting issues) and PDF. Another alternative that I use is Google Docs. It is also a great free alternative. I use Microsoft Word at work because we use PCs. But all out computers at home are Macs and none of them have Microsoft on it. Is there something specific you’re trying to do? If you are just drafting e-mails you can do that with any text editor such as notepad. Sometimes I draft emails on my MacBook email app and then send it to myself at work. Then I continue editing there.

Q: QuestionCan I run Logic pro X on this?
Asked by aperson.
- A:Answer Yes. I’m running it right now. Sound editing is not as resource hungry as video editing, which I’m doing with this too, using Final Cut Pro X and Camtasia. Of course the faster your processor the faster it will be to publish your final product. Since we’re only using it for home, we’re rarely in a rush.

Q: QuestionI am not a gamer and have an iMac from early 2009 with 4GB of RAM. It cannot be expanded. The iMac has a 650GB SATA Disc and I have two external drives for storage. Can Geek Squad assist w/ Data transfer?
Asked by AVBobby54.
- A:Answer I’m sure they can. But it’ll give you the option of transferring data during the initial setup. With the Migration assistant.
