ASUS - 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i3 - 6GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Black

I was looking for a new machine to replace my Dell Latitude D420 laptop since it was just really slow to use. The old one was a x86 Processor with an Intel Centurion Processor and only allowed a maximum of 2 GB DIMM RAM. I found this one a while back and was just looking for the right time to upgrade. First off, this is a great machine for the price. Light-weight, easy to carry and runs basic processes with ease. Setup was very easy (took me about 10 minutes but results may vary here). I couldn't sync my Microsoft account with it but it isn't necessarily needed if you are just using it as a personal laptop. The interface takes a little getting used to if you have never used Windows 8 before but it is fairly easy to use once you have a feel for where everything is. Visuals on here are excellent and the webcam/microphone built in is very good. Now for the hardware side of the review. This one includes an x64 OS and a 4th Gen Intel i3 processor with 6 GB of RAM included but allows for a maximum of 12 GB. Unfortunately, it is a single core processor but the L3 Caching more than makes up for the lack of clockspeed (1.9 GHz). Obviously, it isn't the highest in the class, but for those looking for a laptop to use for school or recreation like I am, it is a great laptop for under $400. Additionally, the 500 GB is more than enough to store most program and application data. Lastly, on a full charge, this laptop has an estimated battery life of over 5 hours! That is almost unheard of for a laptop under $400! Overall, this is an excellent laptop to own if you are either looking for a new laptop to use for schoolwork and home or even if you are shopping for a laptop for the first time. I would highly recommend this to anyone and as soon as Windows 10 is finalized, I am getting my upgrade but for now I am happy with Windows 8.1.

i've had a toshiba laptop for going on 4 years now, and when it stopped working i was determined to stick with toshiba. bought a new one and had returned it within two days because it was such a crummy computer - went to best buy and told them what i didn't want (anything like that toshiba) and they suggested this asus before anything else. i had no prior knowledge about this company, but best buy seemed confident. (i should add that i am only using this computer for college/leisure purposes) they were right. this computer is great - the battery life is FANTASTIC, the keyboard is nice, it is very, very fast, and the screen quality rules. it's a little bit flimsy compared to my last laptop (17"), but that's just something you have to get used to. windows 8 is also a different, but again, something you have to get used to. the only thing that bothers me about this laptop is that i am constantly zooming in and out while using the internet since there isnt an actual button on the mouse pad part of the computer, but it is something i will adapt to. for 350 dollars, i think this is one of the best computers you can get. i read a lot of reviews on other computers and none of them even came close to this computer. i am incredibly happy with my purchase!

I have Google Fiber and bought this to take advantage of the gigabit network speed. This computer has the 10/100/1000 network card. My speed test shows over 900 mb/s upload and download speeds. Most other computers with a high speed card cost much more, this is a great price.

I recently purchased this laptop for basic school and work needs. I was not really looking to spend a lot, especially for a high end model that I do not need. This laptop was perfect! It has a full keyboard, a great display, a CD/DVD Drive (which most no longer include) and so far great battery life. For everyday basic and school needs this is a great deal.

Well for starters, I was looking for an upgrade, so I did my research and asked around. I came across this beauty online and read its features and was really intrigued with them. I compared prices and qualities. Well this Asus got me. Wonderful fancy laptop. Was needing one for college so this was the right choice. Perfect price. I went to pick it up in the store and the employee said a lot of great things about this one. I would have rated 5 stars but keypad is kinda weird and web cam is not as great quality, but overall great PC

I had been shopping for a nice laptop.since our desktop was pretty much becoming a dinosaur. Now im one them kind of guys that as long as an upgrade perforns I would say 90 percent better than what your replacing and you dont have to go broke doing it then your pretty much ahead of the game. We hit the jackpot with this laptop by asus. I work in logistics and our warehouse had been distrubuting these I would say at a record pace in the last two years. So to shorten things up a little. We had are desktop for 11 years and now i feel like when i use this thing im filming a scene on star trek directed by. JJ abrams. People we got this for 299.00. The uogrades speak for themselves. (Now everyone hogs the laptop.) Thanks asus. I see now, why all the orders. Go get yours. People thats an Order.

I been looking for a laptop for a while now, after my old one's power adapter stopped working. With most laptops in this range not meeting my requirements, I thought there was no hope. However I found this laptop right as it went on sale. The brand name was something I was familiar with as I have a desktop with a Asus Monitor, and the specs were good. What surprised me thou was that it was able to run a few games at high settings with a decent framerate. I tried running Legends of Grimrock and Torchlight 2 and both ran smoothly. While this wasn't the reason I bought it in the first place its a nice addition, bought this laptop for school and programming I would highly recommend this laptop for anyone looking for a nice laptop

I purchased this machine to remote in to my other higher spec workstations and do some light virtualization, not expecting much at all. Was I wrong when I fired this up and started poking around it. It is pretty quick and can handle a lot out of the box. Though the 6gb of memory is fine, I have a lot of computer parts laying around so I threw in a 8gb DDR3L for a total of 12gb and cloned the drive to a 240gb SSD and now it flies. Out of the box I had no issues working within Adobe Creative Suite and some light gaming. I would recommend this for anybody who needs an everyday computer, I am definitely going back to BB to buy another to use as my travel computer.
