Fast laptop but issues with touchpad.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Laptop is pretty fast and can operate pretty well with multi-programs opened at the same time. Doesn’t lag much at all. The only issue is the mouse and touchpad. For two days now, my mouse has disappeared/frozen. Tried a couple of troubleshooting tricks such as the fn key + f9; still doesn’t work. I bought this laptop for college so I’m a little worried if my issue is minor or if I have to ship it out to get it fixed... -Another slight annoyance is the finger-print reader. Doesn’t really read well with my finger; sometimes takes forever or I have to use my pin password.

It exceeds my expectations
||Posted .This is my second Asus and it is even better than my still active 6 year old Asus. It was easy to set up, faster and offers features I can grow into over time.

Totally Worth It!
||Posted .Got this laptop for my niece, who’s a high school senior. I decided to setup everything for her. I also did the software & driver updates. Everything went smoothly and relatively fast. When first turned on, the fan sounded louder but quieted down as I started the setup process. The laptop’s screen is very clear & beautiful colors. The touchscreen is responsive & makes navigation easier. Have not tried the Wacom Bamboo pen on it. The sound can be better, maybe if the speakers are on top rather than the bottom. But totally not a deal breaker. Just connect it to a portable speaker if you wish the sound to be louder. It connects to wifi fast & stayed connected til i disconnected. I tried it as tablet, tent & flat. Really solid feel. The keyboard has a nice sound & is backlit. Never had Asus before, so glad i got this from Best Buy when it was on sale. It has enough ports & comes with a smaller size charger which fits easily in the laptop sleeve which i also got from Best Buy. The turn on button is on the left side which sometimes takes a couple of firm push. No optical drive, so I got the Asus slim external optical drive also from Best Buy. The laptop recognized it in less than 30 seconds. Easily played a music cd. I was told by my IT friend that i needed to download an app so i can watch dvd movies on this laptop. Again not a deal breaker. I am very happy with this Asus laptop & very excited to gift it to my niece. I’m confident she’ll love it & will get to do a lot of school & fun stuffs.

ASUS - 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core
||Posted .So far, this has been a great little machine. Its fast, good clear picture and the backlit keyboard was a must for me. I choose this because I have a 15" Asus that is also great. The power button is a little hard to get use to. It starts fast which I like a lot, and the wifi card seem to be of good quality, no issues, never looses connection and changes web pages fast. The screen brightness is very good IMO. For $499 I feel this is a steal. I would not hesitate to buy it again at that price. I was considering the 13.3" Dell but decided on this mainly due to price and from using the 15" Asus I never hesitated to purchase this. I always preferred a Dell but I believe this is a better quality laptop. Buy it and I believe you will agree Asus makes a better laptop with better quality components and at a fair price.

Very Nice w/quirks
||Posted .Nice specs for my proposes and like the aluminum case over a plastic case. Noticed no issues with only having 8GB RAM, the 128GB drive encourages the use of cloud storage. Like the single corded power supply brick vs the 2 corded with brick in the middle. Good speakers and the ports I need in a Laptop. The finger print unlock feature works well and hard to do without now that I have used this Laptop. I have been a long time Dell user so these other things I found to be issues may not be for others. When opening the screen at a certain point it begins to lift the back of the computer up so that the rear rubber feet no longer make contact with the table causing the Laptop to be more susceptible to sliding. One could say it provides a little better angle to the keyboard but I do not think it is that much of a lift. I do believe it is more stable with this feature as the weight shifts back as the screen goes back since the bottom of the screen is resting on the table (little bumpers on bottom edge of screen). The crazy thing I never would have thought about is that it is missing a Function Key lock/unlock capability. What this means is that the top row is locked to the function key (F1-F12) and to use the multimedia or other functions, that I mostly use, I must hold the Fn key first. There is only a volume up and down for multimedia, no skip or play/pause keys. Never knew how little I used the function keys until I had to not use them. The bios is very basic and little seems customizable. If one doesn't use the multimedia keys and uses the function keys then I highly recommend this Laptop. Very nice and durable seeming for a good price. I am outside the return policy but that one issue of no function lock bothers me enough that I plan to sell this and find a Laptop with a lock/unlock of the function key row. I have never had a computer that this was not possible to do. Even if it wasn't the multimedia keys the screen brightness, keyboard brightness, mute all require two hands to engage.

Best buy ever. (pun unintended)
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed.Needed a new laptop, been using it for 6-7 months, bought it open-box. There was nothing wrong with it other than the trackpad not working (it didn't matter to me, it's touchscreen). Now compare to this to my Asus intel i7 5 gen processor laptop i was still using to this Asus 2-in-1 touchscreen Intel i5 8th gen. World of Difference! Faster startup, touchscreen, folding it into a tablet, small and portable, fingerprint scan (unique, but don't know if reliable), and 720p webcam. There were some sacrifices to be made: no number pad on the keyboard, smaller screen, no CD-ROM drive, less memory and ram, etc. This is not a video game laptop! However, it can play mass effect 3, and Skyrim V, etc. on low graphic settings well enough for the casual gamer. Anything requiring higher graphics it won't handle. It has the process speed for it, but not the graphics card. Forgot to add, that it does heat up when play such games. Takes a lot of RAM processing power. For Streaming/social media, works fine. Same with Wifi and Bluetooth. You can connect Bluetooth devices to this. So adding wireless Bluetooth headphones to this I would think possible. I can connect my Bluetooth Alexa dot speaker to this computer. So headphones would most likely work the same. I also tried my bamboo pen and it works. (On a side note, it's best to learn how to use your products well as it will better the experience with them. I don't know how to use my bamboo pen that well, but there are probably more features I haven't uncovered.) For what you're buying, it's not bad. I do recommend that you do your research before hand while certain stuff is on sale. Because they won't have good deals forever. I hope this was insightful.

Great out the box, even better with a SSD upgrade
||Posted .After watching plenty of videos of the iPad Pro, I finally decided to purchase this device as my primary on the go device. It provides me more functionality having an actual keyboard and using more than iOs applications. I even upgraded my SSD from 128 to include an additional 1TB out the box. I'm a Windows PC girl so this meets every need I have. It has an SD card reader, USB ports, quiet, and lightweight for traveling. Tablet mode and Windows Ink is only a bonus making it comparable to what I wanted the iPad and apple pencil to do. The $499 price point was even better then what Apple was asking.

Q: QuestionDoes the Q405U have an M.2 slot or just normal sata?
Asked by Nateorious.
- A:Answer ASUS's answer is NOT TRUE. The Q405UA has a 2280 m.2 socket, as well as an open SO-DIMM socket. There is 8GB of RAM on the motherboard and the computer can be upgraded to 16GB of RAM. I'm not even sure I believe their other answer about not having the SATA board. I've attached two images of the motherboard, it is the same board that's used in the TP410UA with a slightly different firmware. There is also a SATA 6 board that attaches to the motherboard of the BI5T5 model that has a part number of 90NB0FS0-R10010. It may exist on the BI5T7 model as well as the only difference is the SSD. ASUS's support really doesn't have any idea what's actually in their devices, and that's deeply disturbing.

Q: QuestionPlease tell me it has a cd dvd drive, if not which laptops have one.
Asked by barbanne.
- A:Answer BarbAnn, like you, I'd been looking for a laptop that still has an optical drive (the CD/DVD player). The other day (May 2019) I took notes on 4 laptops that have it. Basically, not many do any more, but there are some. None of the 14" laptops seem to have it. But these 15.6" laptops do: Acer Aspire E 15, model # E5-576-392H (there are other Acer Aspire E 15s that do NOT have it, so make sure you see it in the specs). Retails $379. Acer Aspire E 15, model #E5-576G-5762. Core i5 processor, 8GB memory. Retails $500-$600 range. HP Notebook with AMD processor, 4GB of memory, retails $259 (the most affordable option I found with optical drive). (Did not write down model #). HP Notebook Touch Screen with Core i3 processor and 8GB of memory, retails around $600 (did not write down model #). One thing I learned is that people get around the lack of optical drives these days with an external DVD drive - something you buy separately and just plug in to the laptop when you need it. The best rated one I saw was called ASUS ZenDrive 07M, and it retails for around $30. When I realized that, I decided I'd rather have a smaller laptop, and will just buy the external DVD drive separately. Hope this helps a little!

Q: QuestionIf 128gb SSD will be removed and upgraded. What model or brand of SSD will do just fine with this device? And the removed SSD, can it be used for external? if any adaptor exist?
Asked by James.
- A:Answer You don't need to remove the installed 128GB SSD (it is hard to get to, as it is under the motherboard). The installed drive is an M.2 drive, so there is an empty SATA slot where you can add another SSD or hard drive. I have done this, and you can go into the BIOS and select which drive you want to boot from.
