Q: Does this laptop has two 4gb ram cards or 1x8gb?
A: Has two slots and only one used. It's about 40 dollars for another 8gb of ram. Every thing so far seems to run at a level expected with 8gb. Most games running on high graphic setting with decent frames per second(30 to 90). Will probably upgrade ram in future. CPU seems to suck up 2 to 3 GB of ram for vega graphics. I haven't found a way to turn vega graphics off. Very happy with the price to performance.
A: So far this laptop has run almost everything I've thrown at it on at least medium graphics. Overwatch and Saint's Row 3 have been flawless. The one problem I did run into is that Minecraft All The Mods 3 Remix did not run because it requires a minimum of 5.5gb of ram to run that modpack and that much ram is not available to use. Part of the 8gb default system ram is used for the video processing which is typical of all laptops. Vanilla MC or a less intensive modpack should have worked. Plan for a 8-16gb ram upgrade on this laptop for any ram heavy gaming. Also a 2.5" laptop HD (mechanical or SSD) would be a good upgrade to add in as well while the laptop cover is open. 512gb HD space on the default drive is not bad, but modern gaming eats GB like candy. For a solid gaming laptop under $1000, I've been very happy with this model and am planning on the ram and HD upgrades as soon as they are affordable.
Q: What is the brand name of RAM in this laptop? If upgrade it, would like to buy the same one. Thanks,
A: Hynix 8GB PC4-21300 DDR4-2666MHz 260-Pin Look that up on amazon, I bought this there and my system reports dual channel 16gb ram with it installed.
Q: It says AMD Ryzen 7, but does it have 8 or more cores?
A: This laptop has a Ryzen 7 3750H processor, which has 4 cores.
A: I recently added an extra 8Gb of memory and a 1Tb Samsung SSD. You should have seen a small ziplock bag with four screws in the box. These will be the screws you fasten the SSD drive to the laptop drive holder. You will need to remove all the screws from the back of the laptop. IMPORTANT - NOTE the location of the screws as you remove them - they are different sizes and need to be re-inserted correctly!!! You then need to gently, but also forcefully, pry the back cover off of the laptop. I started on a front corner inserting my fingernails to get a grip. Once removed, there are three screws you need to remove that holds the SSD housing bracket (one screw was really tight!). Note the orientation of the bracket, you want to place the drive with the connector facings towards the interior of the laptop (confirm how the drive inserts prior to attaching to the bracket so you know you are correct). Screw the housing bracket to the SSD with the four included screws, insert housing bracket with SSD onto laptop, screw down the three screws, reattach back cover. Boot into BIOS via F2 and verify you see the drive.
Q: Will WOW run (well) on this laptop?
A: It should run great. I've ran much more demanding games with no issue on it.
Q: Is the Ryzen 7 a quad core?
A: Yes it is.
Q: what is the GHZ on this laptop? is it 4.2 Ghz on turbo?
A: The speed is 2.3GHz, Up to 4.0GHz.
