A: You need speakers! No sound without them. I purchased "powered speakers" by Edifier (R1280T) for $100. Love them. Saves buying a receiver. Speakers must be 'powered' without a receiver. Good luck.
Q: What are the speeds? Is a pre-amp or analog digital converter needed? Is a cartridge included?
A: The speeds are 33-1/3 and 45 RPM. A selectable (on or off) RIAA phono preamplifier is built into the unit. All of our USB models, such as this one, contain an A to D converter. The cartridges is an integral part of the tonearm assembly, only the stylus is replaceable - not the entire cartridge.
Q: How do I hook up my JBL speakers to the turntable? The speakers have 2 hook ups for wires.
A: It appears you may have passive type speaker. Passive type speakers cannot be connected directly to the turntable, only active (powered) type speakers can. If you do have passive type speakers, they will need to be connected to a stereo amplifier or receiver installed between the turntable and the speakers.
Q: Does this turntable come with a cartridge
A: Yes, it does. The cartridge is an integral part of the tonearm. Note that only the stylus is replaceable, not the cartridge itself.
A: Make certain you have the preamp selector switch on the back of the turntable set to the correct position for the input the turntable is connected to. If the turntable is connected to the PHONO input on the amplifier or receiver, the preamp selector switch must be set to the PHONO position. Otherwise, there may be a problem with the stylus (needle).
Q: What country is this turntable Made in
A: China
A: Correct. You do not need a separate amplifier if the speakers are powered (aka active) type speakers. Powered speakers have the amplifier built into them.
Q: Can the AT60X be upgraded for better sound quality?
A: Audio-Technica does not have anything for this.
