Great Frame, but Android App Experience is Lacking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Aura - Mason Luxe 9.7'' LCD Wi-Fi Digital Photo Frame is the best digital photo frame I have ever laid my eyes on. The image is crisp and sharp. Colors and details look great in a variety of light levels. Aura's cloud servers provide unlimited storage and make it easy to upload pictures from a variety of users and devices which are then downloaded onto the frame. This frame is a great way to present your favorite photos and with the built-in gifting feature, it will also make for a nice gift this holiday season. Set up: I decided to put Aura's gifting feature to the test. Aura includes a code on the outside label of the box. After downloading the Aura app to my phone, I scanned the code and my wife and I were able to upload over 100 photos from our phones in minutes. Once we had the frame set up and connected to our WiFi, our pictures were on the frame, waiting for us. The frame itself is pretty thick. There is no way I could see to wall mount the frame. Technical Issues: I struggled a bit to get the frame running and connected to my WiFi. I had to unplug and re-plug the frame in a few times to get everything working. Not sure why, but it didn't want to connect to my WiFi or my Android phone's Bluetooth. After a few restarts, I had the frame online and connected, but the set up struggles were a bit bewildering. A huge chunk of your Aura experience will be dependent on your Android or iOS app. However, you can upload photos via email and a web based uploader. Currently, the web uploader supports JPEG, PNG, or TIFF photos that are a max of 10MB. Videos are not supported via the web uploader. Oh yeah, with a firmware update, the Maxon Luxe will support video playback up to 30 seconds. However, the feature is currently only supported from the iOS app. Android support should be coming later. iPhones and iPads can take live photos. With live photos, the phone records 1.5 seconds before and after the photo. Live photos gives your photos a moving image effect. The Mason Luxe supports playback of iOS live photos, but Android's motion photos will not work. Apparently, there is no standard across Android phones when it comes to their version of moving photos which makes playing them back difficult. From the Aura app, you can crop photos to fit the frame. The app automatically adjusts photos for best fit and I found that it did a good job. Most of my cropped photos properly focused on the photo's subject matter. The frame has motion controls on the top and side of the frame. And they worked well, but sometimes I found myself bringing up meta data or accidentally liking a picture when I just wanted to scroll to the next picture. You can display your pictures in either chronological order or shuffle. Once the photos are uploaded to the server, there is no way to create photo groups or a set play back. The problem with chronological order is it's dependent on the photo's metadata which may or may not still be there depending on how many times your photos have moved from device to cloud and back to other devices. So, in my case, photos I had taken on my old phone before I purchased my new phone, did not transfer to my new phone with the necessary meta data to properly display date and time. I used the Aura app on my iPad and my Samsung and Google phones. In my experience, the experience on the Apple app was way better. Occasionally, I would tell the Android app to display a particular photo and the app would just hang and do nothing. The Apple app didn't suffer from the same problems. Conclusion: This is an amazing photo frame and I think it would make a great gift this holiday season. But, I think the experience was much better when I was using my Apple device versus my Android devices. I have no doubt many of these bugs and the Android video upload will be resolved in a future patch. With some software tweaks to the motion controls and some server side tweaks to allow for customization of photo grouping and display order, I think this frame can be amazing. As it is, the experience for Android users can be a bit frustrating and buggy. I could not get the Google Assistant integration to work. It's still a great frame, but the better Apple app experience shows how good this frame could be. Still, I recommend the frame. I like it. I hope some of the Android bugs get worked out soon. 4.5/5

awesome satisfied user!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.- my mom bought an the first digital frame for our family i’ve always thought it was neat, to be able to see pictures slide in one frame. it comes with micro SD slot to transfer pictures which it’s a pain because you have to transfer back and forth, now with Aura a digital frame is alot easier and easier to manage as well, this frame is amazing and so far I love this device. - 9.7” inc of display that’s big enough to see those cellphones photos in a much finer details with a high resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixel display and the ability to either be use landscape or portrait mode - the cord that came with the box is about 6 feet long and it’s a nice quality power cord - setting Auro frame is very simple, you will need to download the app on your phone, once the digital frame is plugged you will get a code that you’ll need to match on your app to connect the frame. and it’s that simple, create and account and you’ll be ask to have access with your phone photos so you can start adding pictures - Aura digital frame have touch bar for navigations, can be use to swipe left or right on phones and even double tap to like the pictures with heart effects - now let’s talk about the app since it’s a great application, once you have access to your photos in your phone it’s as simple as highlighting the pictures to be added to the frame, I believe you can add up to 10000 photos so that’s amazing! and one the great features of this device is having the ability to add your family members as guests so they can add their own photos as well. - inside the application at the setting you can also adjust of how long you prefer the image to be displayed until it switches, put it on shuffle which I think it’s a must to keep the flow of the image fresh. - if you worry about the frame staying on all night and date, don’t be Aura digital frame goes to sleep when the room is dark. and the brightness also adjust on its own. - if you have an iphone The frame can also play your live photos if you prefer those methods, I was hoping it can also play videos but sadly even tho it let me add to rotation it did not play at all. - Aura Digital frames is not a cheap device, for the price I felt like the app could improve more by adding a different animation when switching from photos to photos, or even some kind of fun filters specially when you have kids photos being displayed. a short video montage that can be play would have been nice to see maybe some future updates on the app. - overall it’s such a great photo frame to own, great picture clarity, high quality design, user friendly application, having the ability to set up the device as a gift was also a nice touch. I love it.

Shared Digital Photo Display on our Bookshelf
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As I opened the box for my new Aura I could tell this was a quality product. The box is solid and can protect the Aura Frame when shipping, which makes this a great gift idea. The bottom of the box has the steps for gifting the product to someone. Setup of the device is very easy. Unpack, remove the screen protector, touch pad protectors, and plug in the device. I downloaded the Aura Frame application to my iPad and was prompted through creating an account. A pin code displayed on the device, my iPad connected to the Aura via Bluetooth, and my Wi-fi settings were configured. After giving the app permission to access my pictures, I was able to scroll through and select which pictures to add. I added user accounts for everyone in our household and we can add and manage all our pictures. Features • Can be used in portrait or landscape • Frame: 9.8” by 7.8” by 1.9” • Resolution: 2048 x 1536 • Unlimited number of photo can be displayed with the Aura Frame App • Multiple users can be added to the Aura account and manage photos • Touch slider controls on the top and side of the frame • Light sensor automatically adjust brightness and sleeps when dark • Aura Frames App works on iOS and Android devices • Has Quality Filters for displaying only the best pictures without duplicates Cons • Can’t add a user account if the email address has a period in the first part of the address. Overall, I’m very pleased with our new Aura Frame digital picture display. It sits on our bookshelf in our living room and has been a nice conversation piece.

Great digital frame and easy to load pics on
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this as a gift for my in laws and this will be the second or third digital photo frame my family has purchased for ourselves or as a gift. This one looks very nice, the screen is very sharp and if you upload high quality pictures they really pop on this photo frame. The app was easy to download, gave an option to setup as a gift so I did, uploaded a family picture of our family with a cute little message so they see it when they open it. Configuring it via the app was very simple and didn't take much time at all. I also was able to easily invite my wife to be able to upload pictures to it as well. I uploaded about 100 pictures in what seemed like just a few seconds. They were displaying on the frame within about 2 minutes and then started the slide show. I went into the options to adjust the timing to see them change every 30 seconds. It also has a nice touch feature on the frame where you can swipe to advance to the next picture as well. One nice feature is that when the room goes dark or it doesn't sense any light it goes into a sleep mode to save power and also hours on the display. That was a nice feature I wasn't expecting. I am sure there are even more features in the app that I haven't found yet. Only possible issue might be plugging in in somewhere discrete. The plug is a bit large but has a long cord and it is a proprietary plug not a USB-C style connection on the back. Overall though we are very happy with this frame and very glad that we chose this one for my in laws. Everyone who sees it comments on how nice it is and how great all the pictures look on it.

Awesome way of viewing your memories
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always wanted a digital picture frame, and was so glad to come across the Aura Mason Luxe 9.7. My initial impressions from box, to unboxing to set up has been really positive and was very excited to get this connected with my phone photos. After a week getting this set up, here are my thoughts. Pros: This is a nice and solid build. I saw that there is about 2” from the front to back that angles downward so that you can safely place your picture frame on a shelf. There is a nice weight to it so that you know it won’t fall over easily. In landscape mode, there is a touch sensor on the top and to the right, which operates as the control center. These sensors allow you to change the photos by sliding to the right, and to also delete any photos or turn off the frame. Setting up via the app was pretty simple and pain free. Connecting the Aura Mason Luxe to my WiFi was very easy and immediately I began to select the photos from my iPhone library to upload. The display is amazing. The 9.7” screen is bright and crisp, with the HD 2048 x 1536 resolution, very much like looking at my iPad display. All of my photos look really amazing on this screen and it really beats having these pictures printed out in a static display. Also, with many of my photos being “live” photos; the Aura Mason Luxe will have the photo in motion before returning to a still shot. Changing the orientation has also been very easy. I’ve seen no lag so far, and feel that Portrait mode is better for us as the photos I take are vertical on my phone. With the ability of storing over 10,000 photos, that is more than enough for me to choose which ones to upload. Which lead me to the Cons. Cons: When choosing my photos, the app will “freeze” for several seconds before I am able to select more photos to upload. This can be somewhat aggravating because I now have to slow down in selecting the photos. They will eventually get chosen, it’s just slow at times. Another con is that there are no hanging tabs for this to be hung on the wall. I can understand because this is some weight to this, but it would have been nice to have this on the all. Overall, our entire family have been really enjoying seeing the photos and reliving those memories. My children are having more fun as they recall those events. The screen is nice and clear and can hold thousands of pictures.

Great Fun - Great Gift - Great memories
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Aura Mason Frame is my first digital screen, though I have looked at digital screens over the years never purchased. Aura Mason has integrated years of tech advancements and makes a persuasive reason for including a digital frame in our home. One of my first impressions is how much my family and I enjoyed adding the Aura Mason to our living room setting. Fact is all three of us were excited with the Mason. First impression when opening the shipping packaging and seeing the Aura box is it obviously appealing to those who enjoy well-presented home items that offer a sense of charmante, charming. The Aura Frame’s are Handcrafted and “… thoughtfully designed to complement any interior style.” I agree. The frame is a well-appointed Graphite shade which accents with delicacy, presenting your photog captures brilliantly. Setup is quite straight forward, plug the frame in, load the app to your mobile and follow the instructions. My phone did not connect first attempt with Bluetooth, resolved by rebooting my phone, quite typical of Bluetooth devices. After setup you move on to uploading pictures from your mobile or Google Photos, there is no path to upload pictures from a Windows PC. If you want to move pictures from PC, best I can tell is you will have to first load pics to either Google Photos or to your mobile. Not thrilled there is no option to store pics locally, only options are loading photographs to the cloud. There is no internal storage or an external storage option. Gifting! From Box design to packaging to the option to pre-load photos with message to recipient the Mason Frame looks like a great Gifting Option. You can preload pictures to the Frame without opening the packaging by scanning a QR code on the outside of the box. Quite clever. It is a brilliant for gifting, a present that will thrill and continue to have a meaningful place in friends and family homes for years to come. Plus point, it can be setup to allow others to load pictures to your frame, imagine coming home from vacation and sharing the pictures with family and friends. Likes: 1. Unlimited cloud storage 2. Can play 30secs of video with audio 3. Photo curation – will not display blurry pics 4. “No hidden fees or subscription costs” Like that. 5. Wide programmable time sequence for slideshow An extraordinary digital picture frame with solid set of options that is right at home in your abode and makes a brilliant gift. Good stuff.

Image Quality & Ease of use!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great image quality. Linking to google photos was easy. Screen occasionally glitches, power cycling bring it back. Makes me question longevity of product, but it has been going strong for +1yr.

Q: QuestionCan I set this up ahead of time so that my 81 year old dad can view the pictures without the need to connect to his home wifi?
Asked by MustangMama.
- A:Answer If you know your Dad's WiFi network name and password, you can use this option to pre-set it on the frame so it automatically connects to his network. This option is great if the frame recipient doesn’t own a smart device. Note: If you input the details incorrectly, an invited frame member needs to use the Aura app to change the WiFi settings onsite.
