    Synopsis

    Babel
The tragic aftermath of human carelessness travels around the world in this multi-narrative drama from filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu. Richard (Brad Pitt) and Susan (Cate Blanchett) are a couple from the United States who have traveled to Morocco in Northern Africa on a vacation after the death of one of their children has sent Susan into a deep depression. Richard and Susan's other two children have been left in the care of Amelia (Adriana Barraza), their housekeeper. Amelia is originally from Mexico, and her oldest son is getting married in Tijuana. Unable to find someone who can watch the kids, or to obtain permission to take the day off, Amelia takes the children with her as she travels across the border for the celebration. Around the same time, in Morocco a poor farmer buys a hunting rifle, and he gives it to his sons to scare off the predatory animals that have been thinning out their goat herd. The boys decide to test the weapon's range by shooting at a bus far away; the shot hits Susan in the shoulder, and soon she's bleeding severely, while police are convinced the attack is the work of terrorists. In Japan, Chieko (Rinko Kikuchi) is a teenage deaf-mute whose mother recently committed suicide. This despairing, confused girl experiences such rage and frustration that she causes her volleyball team to lose a match, and later yanks her underwear off and begins exposing herself to boys in a crowded restaurant. Chieko's father then struggles to reach past the emotional distance which separates him and his daughter. Babel earned Alejandro González Iñárritu the prize for Best Director at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Film Review: This is one of the best movies I saw in 2006. (I think it should have gotten best picture) Great acting. The film really makes you care for the characters and can be very intense at times. This is also a film that does not "spoon-feed" you all the answers and makes you think. Many people didn't like this film because of it, that's why I recommend you rent or watch it on TV before you buy it. Blu-ray Disc Review: Overall it is a great transfer. The audio is great, I even bought the soundtrack after buying and watching the movie. (5/5 for audio). The video is also a great transfer but does not look as good as I would have hoped for. There are a few times where the screen looks grainy but does not effect the overall experience of the film (Video 4/5). Overall- a great film that most people will enjoy. The movie does make you think a bit. Great audio and video. Highly Recommended.

Goes to show you that just because a well known actor is in the movies, does not make it a view. This is one of the workst "Brad Pitt" movies I have seen. Much like "Lost" it jumps around between the lives of of different families. This is a BORING movie that gets worse, when a young girl exposes herself (has nothing to do with the main plot), bringing the standard of quality down further.

an engrossing film that encompasses alot of characters in a intertwining way. the story moves at alot of different paces and really just had one too many story lines - this was especially evident in the ending which was very disappointing - yet till then there were excellent moments especially watching brad pitts character slowly wear down. overall - alittle too long but a good watch later

Babel is a very creative plot that covers the U.S., Mexico, Afghanistan, and Japan. It starts in one country and the story moves to other characters around the world. Each one has something in common. You must pay attention from start to finish. To even comprehend their heart felt lives from highs and lows.

This movie was really great. It presents several stories and then brings them all together at the end for several "Ohhhhh" moments. Overall the acting was really good and the story lines are genius.
