Great for when no room in computer

Very useful little adapter
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little adapter has three USB 3.0 slots and a gigabit Ethernet. I use this with my Surface Pro 3, which has only one USB 3.0 slot. Now, I can connect a mouse, an external drive, a portable bluray drive and, at the same time, have a fast hard-wired internet. It doesn't need an external power. It made using the SP3 much more convenient. The one thing that kept me from giving it five stars is the price. If it were only $20, I'll give it one more star.

Great once you find driver. BELKIN SUPPORT AWFUL!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 3 port USB 3.0 ports (super-speed) worked right out if the box. I would give this 5 stars except it's almost impossible to find the driver to make the Ethernet work and the customer service was HORRENDOUS (talking to you, Belkin!). Had to find the driver from the original micro-controller website via my own research (Belkin never called me back and it was very polite). More details: The USB Ethernet requires drivers for any OS except Win 8.1 (or so they claim). Driver did not come in box but points you to website. Unfortunately, the driver is unavailable on the site. After hunting for 30 minutes, I spoke with a Belkin CS Agent who - after putting me on hold for another 30 minutes - said their elite department would be in touch within 24 hours. NEVER HEARD FROM BELKIN! After doing my own internet research, I found the micro-controller site of the chip they use.... I downloaded the driver for Mac OSX and voila! Works perfect now! (no thanks to Belkin) For those of you interested, here's the site to find drivers for this device: http://www.asix.com.tw Look for USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet on the left and follow the links to the driver page. They have drivers for every OS imaginable!

A Necessity, But A Nice One
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to buy an adapter for a new laptop without wired networking. I did some research on the options and bounced around with a few options. There are some cheaper options and there are some smaller options, but this one won me over for a couple of reasons. My laptop only has 3 USB ports so using 1 for Ethernet left me with only 2 which isn't really adequate anymore. This is an Ethernet adapter with additional ports so I can solve two problems at once. The ports on the module are USB3 so I'm not sacrificing speed by expanding my USB ports. I've had no problems with Ethernet connectivity or with any of the USB devices I've plugged in. It's a simple product (no external power requirements is a plus too) that does what it's supposed to do.

Q: QuestionI have an HP hard wired how can I run two computers one connection to printer is square the other end is USB
Asked by Ron.
- A:Answer Install the printer "ATTACHED" on the First computer. After installation, go to the control panel under printers, right click the icon for that printer and go to "sharing". Share the printer. (you may have to enable your file and print sharing...Google it) Now go to the other computers and install a printer as normal, but when asked about "printer attached or shared", choose "shared". The printer should show up when it scans the home network as long as file and print sharing is enabled. You will still install the drivers and such, but when you print, it will go through the PC to the other wired PC and walla...it prints. This was the ONLY workaround I could find for an older all-in-one printer that would not offer win8 drivers! I installed it on my win7 machine, shared it, then installed the win7drivers onto the win8 machine as a shared network printer. Both machines print to the printer now (one is wired, the other print wirelessly through the other on the network). The only drawback, the PC it is attached to must be logged on. I didn't want to replace a 500.00 printer that I love just because of not having win8 drivers.
