After a video of him saving his sergeant's life during a battle in Iraq goes viral, a 19-year-old U.S. soldier named Billy Lynn (Joe Alwyn) is invited, along with his squad mates, to return to the States for a promotional tour involving a military celebration during a Thanksgiving football game. However, the experience only makes Lynn feel more alienated from a society that doesn't truly understand or appreciate the sacrifices of its soldiers. Kristen Stewart, Vin Diesel, Garrett Hedlund, Steve Martin, Tim Blake Nelson, and Chris Tucker co-star. Directed by Ang Lee, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Ben Fountain.~Jack Rodgers
Anchored by Don Mischer, a veteran halftime show producer, this piece takes the viewer onto the field for the big event

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk [Includes Digital Copy] [Blu-ray]
YES 60FPS MOVIE. Some hate the soap opera effect. I stand by and defend it. This is what cinematic immersion is all about. Even the TriStar horse is in 60fps. For those that dont know, movies are filmed at 24 frames per second. Ang Lee has decided to do 60 frames per second and the lifelike detail is amazing. The movement is closer to life. To me the soap opera effect makes a movie MORE realistic. The movie is ok but like I said many get STUCK just after taking a glance. Cant wait for Ang Lee's next film Gemini Man comes to 4k. Hopefully that disc will be 120fps. BUY IT & ENJOY WHAT YOUR 4K UHD TV CAN DO.
I have never watched any movie like the 4K version of Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. The image is so realistic that I feel that the movie is happening right around me. The Atmos soundtrack is just as immersive, especially during the halftime show. The included 3D Blu-ray offers some nice depth, but overall the movie has too many close-ups to be a showcase for the 3D format. The subject of the movie - what does it mean to be a war veteran today - is also worthwhile. Portrayals seem a bit uneven. Billy and his fellow-soldiers are better-realized and they relate better with each other than with the outside world. Perhaps it is intended, but I end up not buying into Billy's relationship with his sister and the cheerleader.
Seriously - I only purchased this title, to see just how good, good can look, and the image quality blows me away! The level of detail is stunning, and the colors are so lifelike. Add to this, the Dolby Atmos audio track, and you have a very nicely produced home video product.
I only wish the movie itself were a bit better. The format of jumping between currently happening events (the media attention of Billy's platoon and the lead-up to the halftime show), and the past (the combat event that lead up to the media hype) taking me out of the film and more or less leaving me indifference where the movie is concerned. ...still, it's an amazing title, with which to demonstrate the capability of 4K displays!
First let me say that I did not buy this movie for the story but because it outputs a 4K HDR video at 60 fps and has a Dolby ATMOS soundtrack. This is the best movie I have found to test out your home system. This will push your system and especially your HDMI cables to the limit. If you can watch this without any trouble then your system is good to go. That being said I did enjoy the movie not just the visuals and sound but the story was good too. It was not great thus the reason for only 4 stars. If you want to test your new 4K system out this is great for that.
The pacing of the movie could be better but the recording at 60 FPS is fantastic. It is one of the best presentations you could get on 4K. The movie is based on one soldier's point of view on how he is a hero for saving his band of brothers in his attempt to also save his sergeant. Pace could have been better. PTSD succumbs to a few of his brothers being back in the states for a USO tour to celebrate his courage. It all seems to be too much for some and wished they were back in country. Casting was good. Good to see Steve Martin and Chris Tucker in it. Worth watching.
I liked the way the movie didn't just concentrate on the good deeds he had done but also took a moment to point out how himself and his mates reacted to recently being in combat then being thrown into a civilian setting without proper down time to decompress as they were jumpy at loud noises and people coming up from behind them. which in my experience many people end up acting in a similar fashion when people put their hands on you from behind.
I would recommend this to a friend
Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Okay movie, Incredible 4K UHD Blu Ray!
While the movie meanders and seems to think it is more important than it actually is, the PQ and SQ of the 3D Blu Ray and UHD Blu-Ray are absolutely top notch. Beautiful 3D that weaves in and out of Billy's mind, and incredibly sharp, gorgeous 4kUHD quality. Please note - the 3D disc is not in 4K, but as it was made from the same master, the quality is very high. Hugely recommended - a demo quality disc for both your 3D and UHD displays.
Excellent to watch on Blu-ray: an amazing story of an army unit is portrayed led by a very young Silver Star winner as a Specialist in the US Army, potrayed by an adorable NEW British actor starrinng in his VERY 1st FILM out of acting school. ***Actors were put through a short boot camp under Army instruction before doing the film.
