Joel Schumacher's exercise in occult Nazi horror has been given a simple presentation on this DVD from Lions Gate Films. Blood Creek has been given a widescreen transfer to disc, letterboxed at 2.35:1 on conventional televisions and enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16:9 monitors. The desaturated color schemes and sharp focus of Darko Suvak's cinematography come across accurately on this release, but it also reinforces the film's dim and shadowy look, and it might have helped to brighten the image just a bit for home video. The audio is mastered in Dolby Digital 5.1, and the surround mix is lively and realistic. The dialogue is in English (with a few moments in German), and the disc includes optional English and Spanish subtitles but no additional spoken language options. As a bonus, this edition includes an optional commentary track from director Schumacher, who discusses his cast, the historical basis behind the story, and the practicalities of shooting a film in Romania. The only other additional material on this release is a collection of trailers for other Lions Gate releases. horror fans interested in the film will get a watchable transfer in this release, but anyone hoping for a deluxe edition with lots of extras (or even a trailer) will have to wait.

    Blood Creek
Two brothers embark on a violent revenge mission and discover that long-standing rumors of occult experiments among the Nazis were in fact rooted in reality. Three years before the onset of World War II, the Third Reich contacted the Wollners -- a poverty-stricken family of German-Americans living in Town Creek, WV -- with a lucrative offer to host visiting scholar Professor Richard Wirth. Completely oblivious to the occult experiments that were being conducted by the Nazis and Professor Wirth, the Wollners accepted. That decision would haunt their family and their town for decades to come. Flash forward to 2007, when Victor Marshall (Dominic Purcell) vanishes into thin air while camping near Town Creek. Determined to discover the true fate of his missing brother, floundering 25-year-old Evan Marshall (Henry Cavill) searches for answers. Just when it seems that there are none to be found, Victor suddenly reappears with a claim that he was abducted and then staged a daring escape. He asks Evan to gather some guns, pack the boat, and return to Town Creek with him on a mission to exact justice on his kidnappers. Upon returning to Town Creek, the two brothers come face to face with a terrifying evil born of an unholy union between Hitler's Third Reich and forces beyond human comprehension. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I thought it would be better

When i saw the movie on the shelf it looked really interesting, since it had Dominic Purcell (Prison Break) in it. I thought he was gonna be the protector and hero of his family or something....and he kind of was. But i found out he was actually the brother who vanished and he wasn't really protecting his family, just looking for revenge, which is good but I was looking for a little more. The beginning looked real promising- the acting was really good and the story seemed strong. Then it kind of slowy went downhill. Anyway, i was expecting a little more from this movie. It's a good late night movie, though!
