The 706 S3 is an outstanding bookshelf speaker for use in larger spaces. Thanks to its decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter and carefully upgraded crossover, it provides exceptional detail and insight into your music, while its substantial 6.5in Continuum Cone bass/midrange drive unit provides ample scale and extension. Like its 705 S3 sibling, it performs at its best on the optional FS-700 S3 stand.

A: The midrange driver size is 6.5 inches.
Q: What is the weight and dimensions of the speaker?

A: Hello. The CDA-4D is a custom installation distribution power amplifier, and may not be the best option for your system. It requires you add a pre-amplifier to connect your sources to. A better option would be to go with a Marantz Model 40n or a Marantz M1, as they both fit neatly between your computer and the 706S3s, offer a good set of analog and digital inputs to work with and are easier to operate and set-up given your requirements. Either way, 12, 14 or 16 gauge copper speaker wire of the length you need will be required. We recommend Audioquest for this purpose. For more information, I recommend speaking with a Best Buy Home Audio expert.
Q: Hi Want to confirm price is for 2 speakers - Thanks
A: Best Buy indicates that the price is for a pair of speakers in the description "700 Series 3 Bookshelf Speaker with 1" Tweeter and 6.5" Midbass (Pair) - White."
Q: Are you able to hang them on the wall for rear speakers?
A: Hello, These are able to be used as rear speakers, but we do not design any wall mounts for these speakers and these speakers are meant to sit on a stable surface like the dedicated speaker stands.

707 S3’s compact, space friendly design makes it easy to accommodate in smaller spaces, but thanks to its Carbon Dome tweeter, Continuum cone mid-bass and curved baffle, this outstanding loudspeaker provides proof positive than often, size can be deceptive.

705 S3 is our ultimate 700 Series bookshelf speaker, a no-holds-barred celebration of excellence able to highlight all the subtle nuances in your music that other speakers miss. Its Carbon Dome tweeter is housed in a redesigned Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top enclosure used in 800 Series Diamond products. That joins a subtly curved baffle endowed with a ‘pod’ housing for its Continuum Cone bass/midrange driver, ensuring that you hear less of the speaker’s cabinet, and more of the music you love.

HTM72 S3 is the most compact center channel speaker in the 700 Series. It features a Carbon Dome tweeter and twin Continuum cone Mid/Bass drivers. It’s the perfect partner for a home theatre system based around the 704 S3, 706 S3 or 707 S3.

Very nice upgrade. Have not had them long enough to say anything more. As bookshelf speakers, they are big in size and performance. Needed to build a custom mount.

The 706 S3 was tested against MartinLogan Classic 9 ESL electrostats in the same placement--the corner of a medium-large living-room, flanking a large armoir (as entertainment center)--and, for this space, the 706 S3 offered modestly higher resolution than did the Classic 9. Dialogue and instruments have slightly more clarity, and subtle atmospheric and musical effects emerge with slightly firmer and more bodied presence, generating a livelier stage. The 706 S3 is paired with a good subwoofer, and the McIntosh C 53 preamp's equalizer is used to remove low-bass frequencies from the standmounts (letting the sub do the work in that region), so music and movies can be played very loudly without suffering compression or distortion. (Frequencies below 100Hz, which B&W documents as subject to distortion above 1%, are suppressed at a 12dB slope by the 25Hz knob on the preamp.) The McIntosh MC 462 amplifier delivers sufficient first-class power to drive almost any speaker, so competing speakers can be evaluated fairly, and the 706 S3 has exceeded our expectations, producing sound as articulate as its mocha wood veneer cabinet is elegant. The standmounts, when pair with a good sub, have more color and verve than does a $7500 pair of electrostats. Some patience with the McIntosh equalizer (to compensate for inevitable room dynamics) and some careful metering have yielded a nearly flat response. These speakers join the MartinLogan XT B100 standmounts as some of the best loudspeakers we've tested in real-world environments.
