Terrible usability and materials.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. It will grind coffee, but frustrate you with the poor design and manufacture choices. Several mentioned elsewhere. - top bean bin has a “max” line that is about one large pot of coffee—barely. - ground coffee bin is (see photo) — made of cheap plastic to which grounds static-cling, except for some that escape in a cloud across your counter when you empty it — using wimpy platic “snap in” hinges that break — shaped in a way that looks pretty, but is actually designed to make it near impossible to pour grounds in your coffee maker - “cups to grind” selector is poorly placed and, at a minimum, upside down. Check the product photos: you cannot see the handy 6-10 cup settings because they are hidden below the knob when viewed standing next to it (see added photo for real world view) I bought it because it would automatically grind a fixed amount. It does that—but only if you “overfill” the bin, duck down to set the grind amount, and set it high because not all of the grounds will make it into the bin, and even fewer make it into your coffee filter. Brim should really have a talk with their design and usability teams—assuming they have them in house.

Great Grinder
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This grinder lives up to its expectations. It's very quiet, easy to use, and easy to clean. I have not had any issues grinding up my coffee beans. A very good looking and functional grinder.

Poor design and inconsistent controls
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. It does a decent/consistent job of grinding, but there are so many issues with it to make it just not a good product. The amount that can be grinded at once is small, despite the size of the machine, and the bin that catches the grind is poorly designed and spills grinds all over the counter. The grinding cone clogs with finer grinds. The dial to set how much cups of coffee you are grinding for goes much higher than the bin can hold, and it doesn't run a consistent amount of time with each use.

Still going strong a year later
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed.I bought this grinder after our second Cuisinart burr grinder died; I (mostly) like it a lot. Good: - Fairly consistent grind quality and amount; set it and forget it. - Tough. There was a pebble (yup, an actual rock) in a recent bag of beans; naturally, it stopped the grinder completely dead. I opened up the machine and lifted out the burr to clear the rock, and it's been working ever since like nothing happened. Not great: - Noisy. It's not jet-engine loud, but it IS "wake the house" loud. Grrr: - Messy. There's a small gap between the top of the collection box and the bottom of the output, so there's a bit of spillage every time you grind. This gets on the counter and makes a mess, and also piles up inside the grinder so eventually the collection box won't slide in. Not a huge deal, but a little irritating. - Static - there's always a static charge on the collection box, so coffee grounds stick to it and it's hard to dump them all into your coffeemaker. This is common to all grinders with plastic collection boxes, though; I've never had a glass one to compare.

Grinds great, but causes a mess...
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Excellent in options and quality of grinding but take off two points for the design. The machine is large and bulky but can only grind a small amount of coffee at a time. Transferring the ground coffee to a container always ends up with a mess, due to the poor design of the grounds container. And there are always loose beans left in the grinder, ready to spill out and make a mess as well. It is not cheap machine so was hoping for a more user friendly design. The quality and control of the grinding is excellent however and it is very easy to use except for the mess at the end...

Q: QuestionDoes it grind fine enough for proper espresso?
Asked by Espresso.
- A:Answer No, definitely not. I could not get my machine to build enough pressure even on its finest setting. My hand grinder worked just fine so I knew it was a grinder issue. I returned my Brim and purchased the Breville Smart Grinder Pro... The difference is night and day.

Q: QuestionThe grounds constantly get stuck in the machine and spill ALL over the counter. How do you get them out without making an enormous mess? So far, we hate this thing!
Asked by KC27.
- A:Answer I think it really depends on the coffee bean itself. I’ve found that the more oily the bean, the less it flakes all over the place. Also, only using maybe 1/8-1/4 cup at a time helps it all empty into the canister instead of getting stuck in the chute.
