A different kind of story
Posted .This game picks up where its predecessors left off but you do not ened to be familiar with Hill 30 or Earned in Blood to follow the story or enjoy the game. It has an intro cinematic that, for the most part, sums up earlier stories and introduces the predominant themes of the game. It is a squad-based shooter set during Operation market Garden and follows the story of Sgt Matt Baker and his squad. The player will play through the eyes of Matt Baker and witness as he struggles with the burdens of leadership and the price of war. You will command 3 different fire teams as you progress through the levels and will use a variety of objects to take cover on as you try to outflank and eliminate German resistance. At points, you will be able to drive a tank but the majority, and best parts of, the combat are solo or with your squad. Online, the player can either be a squad leader, a rifleman, a tank driver, or a special weapons soldier (MG, bazooka, or sniper). The MP is solid but lacks variety. You win by either destroying the other team, or raising your flag (if the attacking team) or defending the flagpoles (if you're the defending team). The game does have some minor detail issues and streaming problems, and AI (on both sides) can behave strangely. Units will sometimes remain in the open rather than take cover and will take dangerous routes to get to cover, but the AI is generaly very intelligent and dangerous. Overall, the game was very enjoyable and took me about 8 hrs the first time to fnish it, which is good economy for the purchase. The game is fairly authentic and sensitive in its presentation of war and its horrors. It does suffer from some flaws but this did not prevent me from playing it through more than once. The MP is very enjoyable, especially if you can get a group that works well together.

Seen Better
Posted .Ok I have played many a games WW2 perfered from the first PS1 MOH to current on Xbox 360.. I love the ability to hide behind cover and peek and shoot thats nice something I wish was available on Airborne.. Also shooting through any wood material is nice as well. The Story seems to Drag out a little longer at times than it really needs to, if you didnt play the last brothers in arms then it will get you up to date, other wise your sitting there watching a movie when your fingers are itching for some krauts .. I for one don't like to command men to fire on the germans to SURPRESS them behind cover I like The computer to help out when it can but let me get all the HEAD shots in and find away to flank the Enemy. Lets face it I would never had been a leader in WW2 and most likely no one else would have either that plays the game. But that is Brothers in arms and makes the game different from the last 20 WW2 FPS games on a console. If you don't mind the story and can handle not being in the middle of a fire fight non stop then i would think this game is for you. If you are like me and LOVE the CG bullets wizzing by your head then save the money and check out COD World at war .... 11/11/08

Brithers in Arms: HH; Underrated and Underplayed
Posted .Ok, folks let's face it. This day and age, Call of Duty, Halo, GTA and Gears of War rule the gaming world. And its not like there haven't been WWII shooters before...heck, i have a bunch of my own; Medal of Honor Frontline, Rising Sun, Euro Assault, and Airbourne; Call of Duty 1, 2, and 3; Brothers in Arms Road to Hill 30, Earned in Blood, and now H*ll's Highway. And there are countless others like the recently released Call of Duty World at War. So the industry wasn't really aching for another WWII shooter. And because of the anti-WWII setiment going around lately, Brothers in Arms: HH isn't getting mych "air time." Don't let that fool you! Basically HH continues the trademark of the series with tactical combat situations (much different and more challenging than the usual "run and gun" style of gameplay), squad positioning and insense realism with a very well written story line. But there are new fetures such as "diggin in" (getting behind cover GoW style), Bazooka teams, MG teams, Tank missions, solo missions, destroyable cover, and more. You play as Sgt Matt Baker as part of the 101st Airbourne dropping into Holland for Operation Market Garden. The graphics are simply STUNNING, and in my honest opinion, the best I have ever seen. The faces of the characters during gameplay and cut scenes look so realistic, you feel as if you could take a Bic razor to your screen and give them a shave. Based on previous BIA games, HH seems, for me, less challenging than the others. I think part of that has to do with the digging in feature, which allows you to fire at enemies from behind cover in 3rd person. Previously, all you could do was crouch behind cover without being able to see the enemy. Also, the squad AI is a little lacking, so I've found it much more effective to have my squads lay down the supressing fire while I flank the enemy. As far as the story line, most video games I've played seem to have a rather cheesy storyline and/or poor voice acting. The storyline in HH continues the BIA tradition of the reality of war and the bond of soldiers. Theres an added twist with Baker's pistol, which adds some banter to the cut scenes here and there, but its not much of a factor. At least I dont think it is. I'm not even finished with the game yet because I work so much. The online seems to be pretty well done, but because of the large number of people NOT playing this game, it can be hard to get a decent match going. All in all, if you're looking for a gritty, tactics based, realistic shotter set in WWII with fantastic graphics, Brothers in Arms: H*ll's Highway, is the way to go.

Great squad based shooter
Posted .I enjoyed this game very much. I had just gotten done playing the entire call of duty series, and this game provided a fresh change of pace for historic shooters. I did not play any previous brothers in arms game so I cannot compare it there. This game is not to be compared to the Call of duty series, as its gameplay is more tactical. You command your squads to do a lot of the work, and you spend very little time in FPS mode as the game has a gears of war style cover system that puts you into third person mode. If you are looking for a game that requires thought over skill, this game is a nice break from the FPS shooting of call of duty.

online falls a little short
Posted .this game has a great story and a very fun campaign. however it is severely lacking in online play... one reason I bought it was because of the much advertised 20 person multi-player. it doesn't really matter that 20 people can play because the graphics are cut down to fit the large amount of people but it still lags. This was a large disappointment. Anyways the gore system is amazingly realistic and it saved the game.

Great FPS and Stratigical Game
Posted .In the past BIA games, such as Earned in Blood, the graphics were great and so was the gameplay, the only thing they lacked was the fun of a first person shooter. I think they captured that in this title. Showing us exciting blowing up and rag doll physics. People will have a great time shooting up the opponents with the added smarted AI in the game also. I love the addition of destructable cover to to add a sense of realism to an already stunning game. Don't miss this game, it would be a great game to fill in with all your other great war games.

RENT FIRST!!
Posted .The only reason this game got 2 stars from me is because I liked the 'team' feature. You control different teams of soldiers to help you acomplish strategic flanks. Great idea! Unfortunately, COD4 has set the bar pretty high for graphics, gameplay, online, and multiplayer. This game sucks compared to COD4. The graphics are pathetic. Its like the PC version of Battlefield. Everything looks the same in almost all levels. The AI, though smart, look like they came out straight off of PS2. Rent this game before you buy, because if you are like me and buy first you will be highly disappointed.
