Q: Will this support a full sized gpu?

A: Yes. There enough space for a person to lie in there. This case has no issues with space.

Q: Does this case have trouble with cable lengths reaching from the motherboard to components on the Power supply/optical/hard drive side of the case? Or do the openings provided mitigate this?

A: There are tons of holes for cable management and if you have internal 5.25 hard drives, there are two slots on the bottom with built in ports for power amd data, with its own cables on the reverse side that you cannot see from the front. A really nice feature.
