    Synopsis

    Creepshow
Two of the most venerable names in the horror field, author Stephen King and director George A. Romero, present this anthology of original twisted tales inspired by the E.C. horror comics of the 50's and 60's (themselves a more direct basis for the popular Tales from the Crypt TV series). The five stories are framed within the pages of a comic book which a boy's insensitive father has thrown in the garbage. The first tale, "Father's Day," features a zombie patriarch returning to claim his Father's Day cake; "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" stars King himself as a slack-jawed yokel whose discovery of a radioactive meteorite turns him into a walking weed; "Something to Tide You Over" presents a deadly-serious Leslie Nielsen as a cuckolded husband who plans an elaborate seaside revenge; "The Crate" unleashes its ferocious man-eating contents on the enemies of a meek college professor; and "They're Creeping Up On You" pits obsessively-clean billionaire E.G. Marshall against a swarm of cockroaches in his sterile penthouse. The chapters are uniformly creative, filmed in garish comic-book colors, and Tom Savini's makeup effects are quite memorable (particularly the monster from "The Crate"), though the campy treatment does become exhausting after two hours' runtime. The final segment is the most impressive, thanks to Marshall's over-the-top performance, though the planned scope of the cockroach invasion was drastically reduced (no doubt due to budget constraints). ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

I absolutely love Creepshow and it's homage to horror comics from the 40's and 50's. This movie has cool stylized segments to mimic the comic book format. This movie is by no means scary but, a fun anthology film with horror themes with it's younger firmly placed in its cheek. The sound and transfer are surprisingly good and mica the texture of film quite well. There are scratches in the print here and there but, this is the best version of Creepshow you can buy at the time of the reveiw. This disc is great based on the film and the transfer alone but, gets points taken off for not having bonus features. When are we going to finally get a Creepshow release with bonus features!?! With Steven King,George Romero and Tom Savini behind the wheel surly they could get something out of this. This film deserves better treatment but, I am happy I got a great version of one of my favorite films.

1982 horror anthology film directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King, The film's cast included Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, Leslie Nielsen, Ted Danson and Stephen King himself in his film acting debut. 5 short stories: "Father's Day", "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill", "Something to Tide You Over", "The Crate" and "They're Creeping Up on You!". The film is an homage to the old EC horror comics of the 1950s , like Tales from the Crypt, If you like Tales from the crypt, you'll love creepshow . I think this was the best anthology horror film because of the tongue-in-cheek approach.

If you're looking for total cheese factor, this movie has you covered. Is it a good movie? It's not going to win any awards any time soon, but that's what makes it so fun. Its stories are quirky, often times predictable, and other times not. In addition, you get to see an early appearance by Ted Danson, a rare appearance by Stephen King, Leslie Nielsen, and some other actors you may recognize but just can't place their names. Also, the movie is a really good quality transfer on Blu-Ray in my opinion, especially considering this came out in 1982.

A collaboration between horror masters Stephen King and George Romero, this is a collection of short films that mix horror, humor and even a dose of camp. It's an entertaining cocktail with some shorts being far more memorable than others (the one about a neat freak that suffers a massive cockroach infestation will make your skin crawl) but as a package it's sufficiently entertaining. The transfer is not the best and there is little else on the disc but for the price, horror fans should not pass this one by.

Creepshow is an excellent ode to the horror comics of the 50's. It has been a favorite of mine since it was released in 1982! The five different stories are each clever and macabre in their own way. Director George Romero, writer Stephen King and legendary effects wizard Tom Savini all bring this film to entertaining and gory life. Creepshow has had a dedicated and loyal following for decades. I totally recommend it for horror fans and anyone who likes films with a sometimes funny and sinister side. Buy it!

So this would be a 5 star release if it only included 2 of the 4 stories told in this movie. "Something to Tide You Over" featuring Leslie Nielsen and Ted Danson and "They're Creeping Up On You" featuring E.G. Marshall are two stellar pieces of entertainment and worth every penny. They've aged well and still are as entertaining as ever. The other two segment are rather cheesy and have not aged as well. Blu-Ray quality is pretty good for a low budget release from the early 80's.

This film was released back in the early 80's and back then it was phenomenal in terms of the multiple stories and such. Stephen King and George Romero created these classic tales which was a throwback to the old EC Horror comics of yesteryear, and created something that is unique, entertaining, as well as shocking. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is a classic horror movie fan.

This movie is perfect for you, if you're into cheesy horror shorts. They're well made, they have an age to them, and they're, well, cheesy. Creep Show 1 and 2 are both favorites of mine, but they're hard to find. When I saw this movie on Bluray at my local bestbuy, I simply had to get it. For me, it is a must watch every year in October.
