I wanted a power backup to avoid nuisance power resets for an office setup of a computer, monitor, modem, voip telephone, and small computer speakers. As i had no method to measure actual power, i added up the claimed power ratings on each device with a resulting range of (600,870) watts. (energy = power * time) Using the CyberPower LE850G energy storage spec meant it should last for 3-4 minutes at this power level so i decided to take a chance on it given the price was good relative to some other products and had the right number of battery backup outlets for me. (note that not all the outlets are battery backups, this was the least expensive model that had enough for me.) After adding the ups to my system, it turns out that the software can report actual power use and my actual power use if about 10% of what i thought it was going to be based on adding the individual component power ratings as mentioned above. The end result is that the claimed battery backup time is about 30 to 40 minutes, which is enough for me. (note that i'm not trying to keep my system powered for hours as i'm assuming i'll always be around to take action as needed. however, the software can be set to turn off the computer when the battery is drained to a certain level, so it is reassuring that the computer will shut down gracefully even if i'm not there.) all in all, very pleased with resulting backup time suitable for my low-end home office needs without having to spend thousands of dollars for a larger ups. and, it was a good laugh to have done the math but reality meant a much better end result. your mileage (and math) may vary.

I've been using "CyberPower" UPS products for 4 years. This is my fourth CyberPower UPS purchase this year alone. I use a 1500VA unit to protect my workstation, A 1500VA UPS to protect my high end audio equipment, A 950VA to protect a TV, and satellite equipment, and lastly, this 850VA CyberPower UPS to provide 24 hour power protection and power failure use for the needed security system. The "CyberPower" design provides a full sine wave, clean voltage for sensitive electronics. The smaller UPS devices incorporate a digital sine wave emulation that beats the competition hands done. Automatic Voltage Regulation cleans up low power, over power, spikes, surges, and short brown/blackouts (at the cycle level) without switching over to the battery. This means much longer battery life and power consumption, and the main circuitry is off except for a very small low power battery maintainer after a full recharge from use... Longer UPS life and NO noise. Gave up on the old "Red and White... Too many failed too soon. Our main server UPS is a nearly 4 year old 2000VA with battery packs. Same batteries! 4 years of Central Florida lightning delight with power dips, surges and outages. RSOrlando Retired Energy Management Engineer Aerospace & Theme parks, Orlando.

I almost spent $60.00 more then I needed to. I was in between buying this unit or another unit that was $60.00 more. I did not want to under purchase. Confused. I decided to contact the Best Buy online support tech. I thought for sure he was going to say "go ahead and purchase the more expensive unit!" Instead, he ended up spending about twenty minutes asking what equipment I was planning to protect. After reviewing the answers, he actually recommended the less expensive unit. He even called the manufacturers to make sure it had the software to schedule automatic shutdowns, which it does. Easy to set up and use. If it stops functioning, I can always use it as a boat anchor. Built like a brick**** house. I am impressed. And no, I do not work for Best Buy.

      Failed after ten months.....

...and their warranty sucks. Bought TWO ten months ago and one failed during a storm based outage. YOU have to keep calling CyberPower as they do not return calls. YOU have to pay to ship it back and CyberPower will NOT reimburse for shipping. This is obviously how they avoid honoring their warranties! These bricks weigh 30-40 lbs so shipping will cost half of the original price. If they don't like your packing they can refuse to honor the warranty based on perhaps the shipping damaged the unit... They do not begin the replacement procedures until they have the unit and then it is a week or two before it ships...so you can be without coverage for three or more weeks. And of course they will not cover any damage to your equipment when "not plugged in"... Unless you purchased a GeekSquad warranty, Best Buy cannot help you at all due to the contractual agreement they have with CyberPower....so if you do chose to buy one of these cover yourself.... II will NEVER buying their product again.

Purchased this to use on the road as a power bank for some of the drone equipment my company uses. It does a great job at providing power when there is no direct wired connection available, but there are a couple drawbacks. 1) You have to have 8 hours to fully charge the unit. 2) Even being fully charged, it will only power a laptop for 10-25 minutes or so before having to be recharged. If you need something for your house and are planning to use it for the rare circumstance where your power goes out and you need an extra 5 minutes to save your data before your machine shuts down, this is a perfect choice for you. If you need something to take on the road to act as a portable charger, I'd probably go buy a portable power bank from a place like Walmart, which is geared more towards camping. I was just in a pinch and needed something at the time, so I bought this.

I live in a rural community with iffy infrastructure. We get big storms here from Lake Michigan and we lose our electricity frequently and because I noticed my computer acting oddly when I had my electric dryer running I was looking for a safer option. When I was searching for a back up battery for our two computers. I looked on-line and I choose the Best Buy CyberPower 850 VA Battery Back-Up System for the following reasons; 1) This was the best price I found on-line. 2) The shipping was free. 3) It has plenty of joules 3) I feel safe and comfortable with this because it regulates power fluctuations, features surge protection that quickly diverts power spikes. No more getting up at night during a thunderstorm to unplug my electronics. This is just what I needed to safeguard my computers! I recently purchased two of these units and have recommended them several times over already.

      Computer work continues during outages

I work from home (IT consultant) on computer all day. We have frequent short-duration power outages in bad weather, often it just "blinks" off for a few seconds. Laptops have their own battery, but the internet modem, router, desktop PC, and monitor don't. I got tired of losing connections, waiting for devices to reboot, and long-running jobs dying, just because of a short power outage. This product solves all of that, so all my devices including internet stay on. When outages last longer, I have time to properly stop my jobs, save files, and shutdown my equipment. The best part is, RIGHT NOW the electric company shut off power while they replace a transformer. With modem and router plugged into the battery backup, I am still working, after 1.5 hours so far.

Cyber Power seems to keep their prices where you can actually afford their UPS. The quality is very good. I have purchased and replaced a few cyber power units. I have found it a lot less hassle to replace the unit rather than the batteries. I got this on sale so it eased the pain of having to replace the one I have that no longer holds a charge, also a cyber power. It ran for years so no complaints. Batteries don't last forever. Like the multi positionability (if that is a word). I have mine standing upright like in the picture. It's big, but the profile is fine for under the desk against the wall. I am just pleased with the cyber power units, they do the job, last a good while and are affordable. I repurpose the old units even though the battery doesn't work for surge suppression where I don't need battery backup.
