A: The 4 ethernet ports are plug and play.

A: Yes it is compatible. I have an iMac, iPad and MacBook Air, ALL connected to the D-Link 880L Router.
A: So far i've had a laptop, 2 iphones , a samsung phone , wireless game all at christmas eve with no problem .

A: Yes, multiple applications
A: The router would connect to your modem from your internet provider which you can buy the modem too or you will probably lease one from your service provider if you don't buy your own. Then you just set up your wifi network and connect your security system through that instead of your hotspot.

A: No, this router does not have a telephone port for a landline. Yes, this is compatible with Comcast.
