Very good space sim
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, i got the PC version and will be getting the 360 version later. a good space sim is hard to come by, eve online for the PC being the only recent game worth noting, but that is an MMO that cost $15 a month. Darkstar one is a single player RPG with lots of content, and for many will be completely unique to what they are used to. what sets this game apart is the fact that its in space, and your ship upgrades as you collect artifacts, there are dozens of side quest to get money, but you can also do other stuff such as trading, each station has its own production and needs that can be fore filled. example, a industrial colony will have lots of machinery and such, but not so much food, bring them food and sell it for a good price. there is also smuggling illegal goods, and killing pirates for bounties, what brings the game down is lack of depth and variety. after about 12 hours of play i feel like i can predict what will happen next... other then the occasional main story mission that is surprising all the side quest are go here kill this or protect this as it goes here. storyline- its good, but kinda confusing. you have one main quest basically, but it gets side tracked, example would be, find this guy to get information on another guy.... but he gets kidnapped and you have to save him to get the information to find the other guy........ the enemies are challenging, i am good a flying games and i find myself taking damage. Graphics are good but environments lack movement you cant walk around the stations or anything like that audio, the music is ok, the voice acting is very bad for the most part, on the PC version at least subtitles are NOT translated right i remember the guy said " we put the weapon on board your ship" subtitles said " the weapon is board ship" there is a lot of random dialog between random people and station you will hear on com traffic, stations also have random announcements to keep a good atmosphere such as " drugs are illegal on this station and users will be arrested" all in all, if you want a space sim or like flight games or space in general and see this for $5-$20 try this out.
