Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Excellent
||Posted .My first laptop with SSD Drive. With i7 Processor 12 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD Drive this laptop is lightning fast compared to my traditional i3 Processor 8GB RAM and 1TB Hard Drive laptop. I'm enjoying it and getting more things done. And it is reasonably priced versus the Dell Higher version with the same specs. Except the screen resolution which is irrelevant with my use. HD screen is good enough.

Excellent Product for a Great Price
Posted .Disclaimer: I do not give 5 stars unless it is life changing and works without any flaws. I also purchase this laptop on September 3, 2016 and writing the review on November 24, 2016. Pictures are from my iPhone. Screen does NOT look like that. Wanted to show the screen size while on. I read every review and checked multiple sites (Amazon, Dell, MicroCenter, and Consumer Report) to make sure which laptop to buy to replace my 10 year old Dell laptop. Below are some of the things I was concerned and liked about while picking out a computer with my response in (...) after purchasing it. Concerns: -Black lines showed up on screen (Update the video drive and this takes care of the issue) -Battery life (I have seen great use out of it. Adjust screen settings to dimmer and also have the screen turn off after few minutes of activity, based on what you are planning to use it for, for example surfing the internet) -Sound quality (Works great. Sounds slightly different than the speakers facing right at me. Getting use to them but I wouldn't return it because of the sound) Power button (Still not fully use to it as occasionally I will hit it as I am adjusting my laptop. Not sure their thinking behind this one) What I liked about it: -Solid State Drive (Absolute must when considering a new laptop. Still love it for the price I got. Light and easy while extremely fast) -Adjusting from Laptop to tablet (Haven't used the tablet side as much. Works great when I have used it) -Speed (Extremely fast. I got the i7 with the 1TB hard drive.) -WORKS FOR GOPRO VIDEOS (I have been searching for the right laptop that is the best bang for my dollar. This is the ideal computer. I am not an avid video maker as their are plenty of better ones for the more advance video maker. This is exactly what I am looking for as occasionally I will go on a trip and want to put something together. Excellent) Overall: I had some slight concerns after reading the product reviews but after taking the dive, I am glad I did. After the updated graphics drive, I have not had an issue with it. The Solid state drive is a MUST when purchasing a computer nowadays.

Great Laptop
||Posted .I bought this laptop for school, a transition from my HP Envy I had used for about 2 years. Just for starters I want to say that I really did not like my Envy very much. It froze up often, the touch pad was awful and it was a bit bigger than I would have liked. With that in mind, I was honestly expecting to be let down by my new Dell, yet so far nothing about this laptop has disappointed me. The tablet mode is easy and minus the weird feeling of the keypad underneath, feels just like a tablet. It charges quickly and so far the battery lasts a considerable amount of time (I can use it for a few hours for about 2 or 3 days and not have to plug it in) It is very lightweight and is easy to carry to classes. My only complaint is that I found the same laptop with more memory and a bigger hard drive for about the same price later from somewhere else, so not really a computer specific issue as much as a Best Buy problem. Also, I have noticed that if you are playing games/streaming video it does heat up pretty quickly, however whenever I am strictly working on Word Documents or online quizzes I don't have this problem.

Great laptop
||Posted .This laptop has been great so far. Extremely fast, good looking, and easy to use. I would have given it 5 stars, but like another reviewer, I had an issue with the popping/crackling sound. It only seems to do this with headphones or external speakers through the headphone jack. I ran some updates on my own, and ended up calling Dell because it seemed like this was a known issue on some of their previous models. I was a little displeased that they tried to send me to the store for a replacement, or send it to them for repair. I was able to get to 2nd level after telling them it felt like a driver issue. Once we updated the driver, so far it has fixed the issue. Hopefully Dell resolves this sound problem on newer machines, and they stop leaving the factory like this.

A Remarkable Deal
||Posted .I was looking for specs, portability, and a solid build. The computer has a full metal build (including the bottom panel). I have an i7/12gb/512gb model and it's definitely fast. When it comes to everyday use it is faster thanks its SSD storage. I have not done heavy applications as I have a stationary quad core i7. I plan to bring my 7000 to college this fall and I'm confident it will serve my needs through my engineering classes. The only thing is it has a solid 6 hr battery life but nothing more, I know there are other laptops with battery life. The screen could also be brighter. The first day I also was facing issues with the auxiliary jack. This turned out to be an audio driver issue along with compatibility with the MaxxAudio settings. I was on the phone with Dell for 3 hours and finally resolved the issue with their amazing customer service. In the end, I am very satisfied with my first Dell product.

Great Laptop for Value Minded Customer
Posted .A quick disclaimer: this is the first review for anything I have ever purchased. I began researching laptops a month ago. I knew what I wanted: a solid state drive, i5 or i7 Skylake, and FHD screen. I went to Best Buy weekly to get hands on and to go about comparing laptops that fit my needs. I had narrowed down my choices between the Lenovo Yoga 710, the Lenova Thinkpad Yoga, and this Dell Inspiron. I caught a good deal on the Lenovo Yoga 710 through a price match and brought it home. Right out of the gate, I had a lemon. System went through a continuous loop on startup--hard drive failure? I returned it the next day and got another 710. Within a few days I began to experience the display driver crash that are mentioned in the reviews. I did all the firmware updates. The phantom touches were corrected, but the display driver still crashed once or twice in a single session. I bailed on the 710. Back at Best Buy, my choices were now the Thinkpad or the Dell. I did some more research (google, "most reliable laptop makers") and discovered that the Dell of 2015 and forward has made some quality machinery. Suddenly, dependability topped my list of requirements in a new laptop. I've had this Dell for over a week now and logged about 20 hours on it. So, I'll get my impressions so far. Pros: the keyboard is very welcoming. Spacing and sensitivity is just right for me. It's a true joy to type this review! The i7, 12gb of Ram, and the SSD has made easy work of photoshop--albeit, my photoshop use is confined to personal photography tweaking. The machine has not gotten loud and is not overly warm even after a few hours. The battery has held up very nice. I've charged it three times since I owned it (counting the initial charge) and appear to be getting close to seven hours of life on a single charge. Cons: the screen does have a slight, ever so slight, bleed from lighting. Not a big deal--even when watching widescreen movies the bleed is not an eyesore or anything of the sort. The touchscreen is not always responsive. Whether this is a problem caused by WIndows 10 or not is irrelevant as it is still a problem. It doesn't bother me, but I know there are high standards out there. To be sure, the touch screen does work excess of 95% of the time. All things considered, this is a solid 4 star laptop even at the full MSRP. It fit my needs exactly. Had the screen been a tad bit more responsive and with less bleed through, it would be a 5 star. Then again, it'd be a $1,200 laptop too. Tip: here's a quick tip for students. If you have your .edu email, be sure to sign up for Best Buy student discounts. They sent me an email code for $150 off select blue label laptops (this Dell is one such). If you snag it at the current $100 off discount (making it 899) plus the $150 off, then you're netting an i7, 512gb SSD, 12gb RAM, and 2-in-1 for $749 + tax. Great deal.

Q: QuestionIs this upgradeable to a full 16gb of memory?
Asked by RVT3.
- A:Answer I ran a crucial system scan on it. It has 2 slots with an 8gb and a 4gb stick from the factory. It says it can be upgraded to 16gb. (http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for//inspiron-13-%287368%29). I haven't done it, but I'm assuming the 4gb stick can be swapped for an 8gb.

Q: QuestionHow loud is the noise of the fan?
Asked by TOM14724.
- A:Answer It is passive at first and doesnt even come on most of the time while doing light tasks. Playing tablet-style games or content-rich websites will make it come on somethings, but so quiet you dont hear it unless you are in a very, very quiet room. By hear, I mean it is practically nothing. When playing heavy games, heavy programs, etc., it will variably spin up to a max speed. At that max, you will know it is on, but still not loud. I have had some loud laptop fans in the past. This one is not loud. This was a major sticking point for me. I am totally ok with this one. Other 2 in 1's have much louder fans than this one.

Q: QuestionI realize this is a bit subjective but is the sound quality adequate to get through a Netflix or instructional video off of YouTube?
Asked by Chris.
- A:Answer I would think so. The sound quality for me is good without any external speakers hooked up.
Answered by NoProblemz
Q: QuestionIs it fast enough to play video games on?
Asked by Mohammed.
- A:Answer This laptop is not good for PC gaming. It has an integrated GPU on the CPU which is going to be under powered for all PC games. Look for a laptop with a dedicated GPU in it.

Q: QuestionCan we buy this product from BestBuy and add Dell premium support + accidental damage (from Dell), as the Geek protection seems costlier than Dell's support + accidental damage protection?
Asked by Chaitty.
- A:Answer Yes; you can as long as the product is purchased new and not an "Open Box" purchase. Just get in touch with Dell Sales after you register the product and the product shows up as you being the owner from your Dell Account page. The difference in price from what I found was $99 for Dells extended 1-year warranty vs. BB Geek Squad $129 warranty.

Q: QuestionIs a 500mega byte hard drive superior to an SSD electronic drive of 512 mega byte capacity? I am thinking of getting the SSD due to longer battery life. TRUE OR NOT
Asked by Max13.
- A:Answer 500mb is bad. You mean 500 gb? And yes, SSD is faster and consumes less power and is quieter.
