The most advanced laptop currently on the market

This is easily the most advanced laptop currently on the market. I was immediately impressed when I opened it. The quality, the color tone, and the look feels modern, elegant, and sophisticated. While checking the specs I was surprised that it is slightly superior on some aspects to the latest Mac Pro available in the market, on almost every detail, so far. For sure its superior specs over the other brands will ensure to sustain all the SW and applications loads for a long, long time. 7 years ago I had my first Dell XPS Laptop, and it is still running, strong and reliable. Obviously I cannot have the latest OS and some other applications that requires more Powerful and faster processor, but I gave it to my mom and she is very happy with it. And again, this new model doesn’t disappoint at all. The OLED display and its screen resolution is impressive being 3200 x 2000 and the video card even doubles when using an external display. The feature that makes this laptop look elegant is the touch function row above the keyboard. The volume, screen brightness, and other controls don't even have buttons. It only works by touch and each control has a light. Even though there's no buttons, the controls work like normal. The 14.5" screen has incredible visuals and color due to the OLED touch display and the screen resolution is 3200 x 2000 which is actually 4K Ultra HD. One of the best screens on the market. At the beginning I thought that 14.5” might be an odd size, but now I realized it’s perfect, not too small, not too big, 3.8 pounds you can easily carry it anywhere. It’s a great travel companion for sure. And with the clarity of images and videos, video conferencing, letters, emails, I feel very comfortable writing my emails, working or simply streaming videos. Colors and contrast are very vivid and remarkable. The screen is touchscreen and has no lagging and the touchscreen is a feature I love. For me, touch screen should be the standard for all Laptops. For some reason, Apple refuses to integrate touchscreen on their Macs but Dell has used it broadly on their laptops and it works great! Another elegant feature on this laptop is the seamless glass touchpad. The packaging is well presented, and you will know immediately while you are unpackaging that you are in front of a High Tech and quality Laptop. So, what you should receive is: Quick Start Manual Laptop Dell 14.5in Power Adapter HDMI USB-C Adapter USB-C Cable Build is outstanding, aluminum case and gorgeous finish, display is Gorilla Glass, invisible haptic touchpad is very responsive and quad speakers with 2 tweeters that makes a total of 8watts peak output. Great front facing camera resolution (1080p) and mic. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the “missing” touchpad but the touchpad is actually part of the laptop. I thought it would be a hassle at first and maybe the laptop wouldn't know whether I was pressing on the left or right side but that is not the case. Its haptic touchpad provides precise responsive feedback. I haven't had any trouble with that feature and it looks great! I also recommend the platinum color I choose. This laptop has incredible performance due to its Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and I'm so happy to make this switch from my old laptop that had the Intel i7 processor which is a bit outdated by now. When browsing for new tech the first thing I look for is how much space and memory I can get. I have many videos and pictures from every phone I've had so space is very important to me. For my ongoing training clases, all of my assignments must be completed on my laptop and I was looking for a trustworthy device where I can save all my work without having to worry about space and this computer is perfect. With a 16Core Intel Ultra 7 processor and 32GB system memory makes it perfect for multitasking and having numerous programs and tabs open all at once. Definitely the processor is powerful and fast. It runs incredibly smooth and the total storage capacity is 1TB SSD which is quite large and fast and more than enough for most people. Another feature I noticed is in the charging device. Before, the power adapter had the USB-C port attached to the power adapter, but now, they are separate and this way you have a USB-C to USB-C cable available for any other use. It’s a more clever design because this allows me to have more options but with less cables to carry. Another features that I like the most are the 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports, the Micro SD port and the headphone/mic jack. The Dell XPS 14 has two Thunderbolt 4 ports type-C on the left and one more Thunderbolt port type-C on the right. I appreciate a lot that Dell still providing the microSD card reader, which I use a lot and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the right (another rarity nowadays, but another feature that I still use, and why not, good to have it). If you need a USB-A port, Dell includes a USB-C to USB-A and HDMI adapter. The keyboard is also different from my previous laptop and better due to its larger and deeper keys and the reduced space between them makes typing more efficient and it also looks great because of the backlit keyboard. Since I've been using it, I also haven't noticed any heat production coming from the laptop as well as no noise. One of the newest features on Dell laptops is the Windows Copilot which I assume other companies will soon integrate this feature onto their computers as well. Windows Copilot is a built in, personal AI assistant that is seen at the bottom of the screen much like an Alexa or Siri. The fingerprint reader for the sign-in option is also very cool and works great so I don't have to type in my password anymore. I love the size of this laptop. It's perfectly portable and easily fits in my bag but not annoyingly small like other laptops tend to be. This is a very well though and design laptop, its higher specs comparing to other brands available in the market. It’s fast with 1TB SSD which gives me enough space for all my tasks and personal stuff and that will make this Laptop current for years. Performance is exceptional on every single detail. I am not the type of person to buy a new phone or laptop every year just to have a new one which is why I look for long lasting, quality products that can last me several years so I don't have the need to constantly buy new ones and this laptop fits that description. I am certain that I will be happy with this product for as long as it lasts.

Fast, slick, amazing display-but not great battery

-- SUMMARY: -- Fantastic laptop, super fast, very slick and incredible OLED display. The only drawback I find is that the battery only lasts between 4.5 to 6.5 hrs of constant use. Overall I would absolutely recommend this laptop for work, including software development, or for entertainment. -- PROS: -- - Slick, beautiful design, a tad heavier that what I would prefer but not too much. - Stunning OLED display. - Nice, slick keyboard. It feels great to the touch. And I really like the fact you can’t see the mouse trackpad and yet it works perfectly, giving you a nice touch feedback. You can't see the power button either, which is the same as the fingerprint reader (i.e. it's not marked). - Touch Screen is a nice extra. I’m not used to using the touch screen on a laptop so I know it works as expected but I haven’t used it extensively. If we were able to completely fold this laptop so it becomes a tablet, then I would consider the touch screen a lot more useful. So, nice addition but I won’t be using it often. Maybe my kid would use it more 🙂 - 3 USB-C ports, 2 on the left side and one on the right side. What I like the most about this is that we can plug the computer into any of these ports when the battery runs low. That means less cable entanglement regardless of whether the outlet is closer to the left or right side. - Multiple ways to log in: face recognition, fingerprint and PIN. All of them work flawlessly and you can enable/disable any of them. I really enjoy this versatility. - Fast charging. It took about 1hr 50 minutes to charge the laptop from 5% to 100%. - I enabled a feature that starts dimming the screen when you look away until it locks the screen after your specified amount of time. I also enabled the feature that it unlocks automatically when you are in front of the laptop. While these are software settings, the hardware in the computer makes these features work really well. I really like it! -- DRAWBACKS / COULD BE BETTER: -- - Battery: For a laptop of this caliber and price, I would have expected the battery to last a lot longer. I’m quite disappointed in this area, especially that I plan to keep the laptop for a long time and batteries degrade over time. Here are some metrics I took: -- After the first full charge, it probably lasted about 6ish hours of constant use doing very minimal things, mainly web browsing and playing with the laptop settings. -- The second full charge lasted about 5.5 hrs of constant use doing a bit more intense tasks such as downloading my full iCloud pics and videos in the background, plus watching some online videos some of the time. -- The third full charge lasted about 4.75 hrs mainly watching online episodes of a series I like - No LED indicating whether the laptop is charging or if it’s already fully charged when plugged in. This is a bit unfortunate as I like to know from far away whether the laptop is already fully charged. Instead, you have to open the laptop and mouse over the battery to know how much it’s charged. - Copilot button: I’m not sure how I feel about having a button reserved for Copilot. I might like it in the future when I get more used to using Copilot. In the meantime, Copilot would seem to appear at random times, obstructing my view on the right side of the screen. I finally realized it's because I keep accidentally clicking on the Copilot key, located right below the dot key. - No built-in USB-A or HDMI ports. I was hoping it would also come with at least one of each built-in. Fortunately, the box comes with one adapter from USB-C to USB-A and HDMI. But, it's one extra adapter I have to carry and hope I don’t lose.

Dell XPS 14 - Portable Power and Performance

Dell’s XPS 14 Laptop is a remarkable piece of art and technology delivered in a very portable package. It is a powerhouse that delivers remarkable performance even for moderately tasking endeavors. Dell Technologies makes great computers and their XPS line pack raise the bar with higher-end specifications, materials and design. One look at the Dell XPS 14 and one will be awed by its minimalism. The computer is housed in machined aluminum with five ports. The left side of the computer houses two of the three Thunderbolt 4, USB Type-C ports. All three Thunderbolt 4 ports support power delivery and DisplayPort 2.1 standard. A 3.5mm audio headphone/microphone jack and a microSDXC card slot can also be located on the right-hand side. On either side of the device, close to the base are three vents. Powered by a 16 core Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, these vents may be very critical to its ability to boost up to 4.8GHz. This processor is very efficient and powerful as I have yet to hear it ramp up the fans to complete tasks. The onboard 32GB RAM will ensure the laptop is futureproof. An outcome of these impressive specifications is the previously stated quick and breezy performance. Package content: Dell XPS 14 Laptop USB Type-C Cable 60-Watt Type-C Power Adapter USB Type-C Adapter for HDMI and US Type-A Quick Start Presentation is everything and the Dell XPS 14 delivers as well in this area. For starters, a fashionable molded encasement holds the sleeved device that evokes a premium experience when unboxing. An initial glance at the keyboard layout when unpowered may have you wondering why it looks a little bit off. For starters, there is no traditional mousepad demarcation/outline we have all come to expect. It is there but cleverly hidden. It becomes responsive once the device is powered, otherwise it feels as stiff as the palm rests that flank either side of it. It uses haptic feedback. Both palm rests and the mouse are made of glass per Dell. The power button/fingerprint reader is also very bare and unassuming. The keys on the Dell XPS 14 are comfortable to use for a laptop. In my experience, there is adequate gratifying travel for keystrokes. On top of the physical keys, is a single row of features supported by touch input. This row is also neither visible nor enabled when the device is turned off. This row includes multimedia controls, brightness, keyboard backlight toggle, ESC, screen projection, PRT SC, HOME, END, INSERT and DELETE functions. To help users get acclimatized to these otherwise hidden controls, Dell includes a printout on the keyboard cover detailing their locations. The keyboard is also backlit without dual-stage lighting/brightness unfortunately. While the screen can be dimmed, the keyboard is only either lit or off. The keys deliver ample travel and are satisfying to use. Microsoft’s AI Copilot has a dedicated button to summon. The screen measures about 14.5 inches diagonally with a 3200 x 2000 resolution. It is touch sensitive and best of all, an OLED display. Colors really stand out and the contrast is very impressive. It is a real joy to use and makes LED or LCD screen appear very ancient. It must be noted that while the screen is also glossy, it is still visible in direct sunlight. A good display requires a capable graphics card to enrich the viewing experience. While not in intensive gaming territory, the Intel Arc graphics card is more than adequate for streaming videos and not very tasking games. On top of the display is a 1080p camera with a dual-array microphone that captures good stills and videos. The Dell XPS 14 is more than capable for video conferencing. It even has some native background effects for video conferencing. Participants stated speech was audible and very clear. Stereo speakers flank the keyboard and have a total peak of output of 8W. Each speaker is comprised of a 2W main and a 2W tweeter. Sound is rich and not hollow, in my opinion. At about 3.8 Pounds, this laptop is easy to carry about. Its compact formfactor also helps its portability. It is powered by a 6-Cell 69.5 Whir (Watts used per hour.) The Dell XPS 14 is equipped with an Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E wireless card operating on the 802.11ax standard. To achieve all the benefits of Wi-Fi 6E, you will need a compatible wireless router. My service tier provides speeds up to 800 MBps and I have been able to consistently experience speeds of over 700 MBps. My Dell is a suite of applications that offer the user some clever features. My favorite would have to be the presence detection. Using the camera, the laptop essentially “monitors” you and applies the necessary scenarios as triggered with rather impressive success rates. Options include as listed below: Look away detect – conserves power through screen dimming when user looks away Walk away lock – screen turns off and locks when user is not detected after a predetermined period (30, 60 or 120 seconds, independent of Windows timeout options) Wake on approach – screen wakes up when user approaches laptop The power app delivers battery information including health, serial number and discharge rate. There are various charging options that allow the user to specify primary power source, charging speed, custom charging options or relegating control to device via an adaptive mode. The power app also has some performance options allowing the user to select between various processor and cooling fan speed options. Color and Display provide preset options optimized for HD videos, browsing, pictures etc. Each scene is configurable for brightness, contrast, black level, temperature and Gamma. The audio app provides some ability to customize sound output and optimize voice quality for video conferencing. Finally, the network app provides data on available wireless access points and their performance with regards to online gaming, streaming, downloading etc. It provides some valuable insights into how services may be accessing the network with their duration and download sizes reported in addition. In summary, Dell’s XPS 14 is well built with specifications to keep it relevant for years to come. With very sturdy hinges, an impressive screen and a battery that can go on for hours on a single charge, one needs not look any further for a portable solid performer. The only improvements I would recommend for future models would be the inclusion of the dual-stage lighting/brightness for the keyboard.
