Short but sweet, but the DLC is coming...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Anyone that isn't familiar with Destiny might not know that the base game is quite enjoyable, but remarkably short. As much polish as the story missions have, the bulk of the gameplay here is decidedly MMO-oriented, with missions, instances and raids designed for 3 to 6 people. Destiny is very much a game you buy to play with people you know. Trying to play with pubs is a nightmare waiting to happen, as communication and coordination are vital in raid scenarios. There are a number of competitive multiplayer modes ranging from simple deathmatch to capture-and-hold and others. I do have to admit, online PvP is quite well balanced and rarely feels as if you've simply been stomped on. This is in contrast to games like CoD WW2 and Battlefront 2, where in-game purchases can shoot you up the leaderboards. Destiny 2 for PC is buttery-smooth on modern hardware, and will run on lower spec machines just as well as it does on console - but having a decent rig will provide you with excellent dynamic lighting and a constant 60-fps. We have to discuss paid DLC - it's on the way and there will be LOADS of it. Anyone that played Destiny on console will already be familiar with the constant stream of new missions and raids that will come - each with a price tag. Much like true-MMOs such as World of Warcraft, if you don't buy the latest update, you're going to be left out in the cold with nothing to do. So, if you're keen an a RP-lite 1st person shooter and have a decent number of friends also willing to plop down the cash, Destiny 2 is a worthwhile buy. The only thing keeping it from being a 5-star release are the short base game and the fact that the first paid DLC will already be a requirement come next month. Sure, console players had 3 months to kill in the base game, but PC players will only have 1.

Solid FPS fun, much like older HALOS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The story seems a little lacking but three types of characters are great to play. The loot is somewhat grind heavy but not terrible. PvP is more or less balanced. Awaiting the raids to see if that really expands the gameplay long term. PC looks and plays fantastic.

Great shooting mechanics, a bit repetitive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny 2 has some amazing graphics and shooting mechanics. And the PC port is one of the best ports I've ever played. The main story is fun, if a bit nonsensical (especially if you haven't played the first game). It has a lot of flash, but after beating the main story, there isn't much else to do with a lot of substance. There are a number of missions such as Strikes, Nightfalls, and the Raid (which I haven't done), but the incentive to do these things isn't really there, outside of loot. I like Destiny, and it is a worthwhile buy, but it grew old faster than I thought it would. There just isn't enough enemy or quest variety to make it a truly great game.

Hours of good fun... for a price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am enjoying myself in Destiny 2. It has a lot of good things that in my opinion out weight the bad or annoying things you find in games now days. The PC interface is the same as consoles, so it is a little weird to navigate BUT you can use a controller in the game also and for PC it has both config options built in for mouse/keyboard and controllers and that is nice if you are into that, so it is a good compromise there. The gameplay is great and nothing has changed here when it comes to shooters and for me that is awesome. For PC, you can tell that some of the skins that were used in the game are not as high as other PC games, it does not surprise me since this is a multi platform title. The game still looks great and the things that need to look great look great. I just wish there was a way to download an HD pack for PC, but what are you going to do. The rest of the game. The story mission I enjoyed a lot as well as the side missions. The side missions compliment the main mission a lot and add hrs to the story mode if you are into that. A downside is that it is still too short for a story mode and it feels super short. The cut scenes are amazing and I enjoyed each one of them and for me that was a plus. Once you are done with the main story then the world opens for different types of missions that add a little bit of story but not much. You already had public quests and they are still available and seems to add endless dailies to the game. Around the map you will also find mini dungeons and patrol quests that reset every so often. But all this content is repeatable and it could get old fast for some people. The strikes and raids will also unlock at different parts thru the game. The strikes are fun for me and it is a fun activity you can do with your friends. I wish there were more now, but they will come as more DLCs get added to the game. The same with raids, to access them you need to have a certain gear level. Now, the DLC thing. I wish we would have more content to start off the game instead of waiting for a DLC we need to purchase. I am totally ok with expansions but I also like content but I understand that between PvE and PvP in the game, right now, there are multiple hours of content. But how many players engage in all of the available content or have interest in it before the next DLC ? I know I am not one of them but I do enjoy me some PvE and the end game content is pretty minimal and by December I will have to spend moar moneyz if I want to play the next available content... IT is good hours of fun!... for a price. Just keep that in mind.

Great game, needs more content
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have played this game since release and maxed out my light for all 3 characters in the expansion. I've pretty much done it all, raids, prestige, etc. The game is very smooth, and very fun to play. The main issue with this game is the content. Bungie has addressed a lot of the issues, but it is still nowhere near D1. I hope that in the future it'll get better, but right now after hitting max light there is not much to do other than grind out loot. TBH, none of the loot is that memorable, some of the exotics are cool, but most are not to die for.

Very fun, but a bit light on content
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never played the original Destiny. This game has great shooting, and is overall a fun game to play, but understand what you're getting into. The content kind of runs out quickly. You can beat the story line pretty quickly, then it turns into a grind for better gear. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, I thought the game was still fun, but with only 1 raid and a handful "dungeons", i wish there was more. The quests are fun, but they seem to just kind of repeat the same type of tasks over and over again.

Fun game with friends
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny 2, unlike Destiny, is finally on PC and performance and graphics are great. The game is similar to Destiny as a first-person pseudo-MMORPG, and to be fully enjoyed requires friends who also play as there is end-game emphasis on clans, strikes and raids that require good coordination. If you buy the game with the intent of single-player only, spend your money elsewhere as the campaign is relatively short 3-6hrs and lackluster/repetitive compared to other single-player games.

It's good but has pros and cons
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is more like 3.5 stars for me but that is not an option, so I bumped it to 4, beware. It's a good game with really nice graphics and pretty good game play. Pros: Plays nice on a fast PC or console, fun with friends, very good weapon play and selection, pretty decent story/quest mode, a couple of new features in this version that weren't in the first release, plus Blizzard uses server versus some of the peer-to-peer model it had in version 1, no crazy cheating yet, not laggy. Cons: It takes 4-8 hours of playing to unlock the multiplayer mode, It's not very challenging in story mode, multiplayer could be great but it's a bit random, it's really not a game for a person that might only have limited time for a gaming session, the story mode isn't long, and it all kind of seems like it could have been quick DLC for version 1. No matter, it's still pretty fun. It's easy to get $30-40 value out of it in a week or so, going to be hard to quantify the full price and any micro transactions in game. I'm kind of a fan, just not 100% convinced that the content is going to match the dollars if you already owned Destiny. For sure buy it if you like shooters and you do not own Destiny. I'll recommend it, but it's kind of a maybe and not a solid recommend. Some of my battlefield teammates did their refund 3-5 levels in and abandoned the game. So I am a little torn, but for me I had some credits and it was cheap.
