    Synopsis

    Devil
Five strangers trapped in an elevator realize that one of them is the Devil in this thriller from director John E. Dowdle (Quarantine) and screenwriter Brian Nelson (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night). The first installment of "The Night Chronicles," a film series in which up-and-coming filmmakers bring to life stories conceived by M. Night Shyamalan, Devil opens to find five Philadelphia office workers filing into the elevator of an inner-city office building. But a typical day at the office takes a sudden detour into terror when the elevator becomes stuck between floors, and the passengers discover that the Devil does exist, and he's standing right before them. As emergency workers work frantically to free them, secrets are revealed and the passengers realize their only hope for survival is to confront their darkest sins in front of the others. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

In Philadelphia, Detective Bowden is still grieving for his wife and son, killed in a hit-and-run five years ago. When someone jumps from a skyscraper onto a truck, Bowden is sent to investigate. Meanwhile, five strangers are trapped in an elevator in the building where the jumper committed suicide. The communication radio in the elevator is broken but the guards, Lustig and Ramirez, observe the individuals via CCTV as events unfold. Tensions run high among those trapped, so Lustig calls the police and Detective Bowden assumes the case. Without being able to contact the individuals, he tries to work out who they are, but he can only account for four of them. Time is running out for the occupants of the elevator, as Bowden realizes he has to get them out quickly.

A random group of people get trapped in an elevator at some office building unaware that one of them is actually the Prince of Darkness. The Devil stalks each of the group one by one in a grisly manner as the building security and police detective look on helplessly through the security cameras. Very tense and suspenseful.

This movie is not directed by Shyamalan but is written by him so the usual twist ending can be expected. While this is the same old Shyamalan formula the movie is well acted and directed.

Typical of what you would get from Shyamalan. Intense, suspenseful, and horror with twists. Not his best, but not his worst.

This storyline more aggressive than I expected. Thought it was another spoiled kid with false claims. Good movie to watch.
