Q: Is the micro usb that plugs into the mini the magnetic type like the one right from DJI?

A: It will not work with mini 2 it has a micro connection for mini 1. Mini 2 takes a USB C Hope that helps
A: Yes this is a charging station if you want to keep a batter inside the drone and charge the batter that way. But if you have any type of a battery charger then using it to charge the battery is no really need. Just buying a propellor holder is all you need.
A: DW, I know this has been up awhile, but if your still considering; Yes, this is just for charging the drone battery, and it is going to take just as long with this as with most other chargers. Guessing how long it takes depends on the battery itself (age, charging cycles, temperature, etc). But a wild "guess" would be 30 min.
