This is by far the loudest and most vibrating window ac unit I have ever owned, or even witnessed for that matter. Many others, including the manufacturer, claim that such ridiculous vibrations & loudness could only occur if the brand new ac unit was not installed correctly or is not the proper size. However, I am positive that this ac unit and all the others I have owned were mounted, installed and chosen properly. I have played with this ac unit a lot attempting to reduce the vibrations and although I was able to achieve minor vibration reduction I am still very very dissatisfied. Research a little and you will find some others have shared their dissatisfaction for the same reason and by visiting other websites you will see there are more then just "some" people who have experienced this issue. I liked the visual appearance and it can cool down quickly yet I would not recommend this ac unit to anyone. Tomorrow morning I will definitely uninstall this ac unit & replace it with one of my 9-year old ac units. I would have done that already if it wasn't in the upper 90's today.

      Good value for the money.

With a ~200 sq ft room I opted for the 6,000 btu version, which is rated to cool up to 250 sq ft. We had a week straight of 95 to 100 degree weather, and the unit kept the room reasonably cool. It's quieter than I expected, based on other reviews. Noise is subjective, of course. I find it tolerable. The slightly curved shape is aesthetically pleasing, but leaves gaps that allow hot air in. The panels are thin and flimsy (note: I don't know how they compare with other Frigidaire models or brands). I bought foam insulation made for a/c panels. I may even use R5 foamboard. Without the insulation, you can feel the air coming in. It has what I assume are standard features now for a/c's (I've had central a/c for the previous 9 years, haven't had to purchase a window unit). The remote has a thermometer. There's another model that can be used as a sensor, i.e. the temperature on the remote is what the a/c shoots for. I didn't have the money to spare for a pricier unit. I'm on the fence with my recommendation. I voted Yes because of the price/value factor.

Does not keep up without help

Used in my office, a roughly 12x12 room on the main floor with one sturdy door to the hallway and two new windows to the outside world. Three of the four walls are exterior, with only one getting late afternoon (post 3pm) sun. The others shaded by a large maple. I have large furniture, but lots of technology - PC with 3 new LED monitors. Positives: easy install, very light, eye appealing for a window unit, nice and simple remote, relatively quiet even on high, when it cycles it does not sound like a UPS truck. Negatives: does not cool my relatively small, well-insulated room without having the ceiling fan on turbo-prop mode. The AC fan does not feel like it moves a lot of air. The remote automatically defaults to Eco mode rather than On. Fits a narrow window. Cycles often to keep the room cool - every 3-4 minutes. Maybe my office is just too big or the unit is over rated, but I would not purchase this particular unit again and have no other room to place it. I'll get a bigger model next year and give this one away.

Cools good so far, but, poor packaging

Beware, the OEM packaging is minimal and inadequate to prevent damage to the unit. Bought one, right out the box, the outside metal cabinet was dented and looked like it moved the coil near the compressor. There was less damage to the outside carton. Not wanting to take a chance, returned, exchange for 2nd unit. It's cabinet is damaged too but this time on the opposite side away from compressor. Triple digit temps right now and inventory at the store just about gone. So went ahead and installed unit since the damage is outside and not video me or neighbors. Summary, the styrofoam packaging does not encase the whole unit. The 1st must have been hot from the side. Second one looks to have had too much weight on top and the metal cabinet is bent, but no visible internal damage. Advice, check the unit completely before starting any of the installation. Guessing damage rate for this unit to be higher than average. BEWARE

Bought as an addition to my central air to help cool my 15’x19’ bedroom during this extremely hot summer we’re having. So far so good...install was a breeze. The unit functions as advertised...temps are cold and noise is minimal. Actually quieter on high fan with compressor than my electric fireplace fan when it’s running in the winter. Time will tell. One suggestion...those baffles on the side are useless for keeping out insects or a draft, so be sure to add self adhesive foam or something to seal off the little cracks and crevices. I will be using 1/2” thick, cut to size foam from a craft store. Another big box store sells foam baffle covers I just didn’t want them in black so I’m opting for the craft store.

      Great unit for dorm room

I moved into the dorms at the end of June, and of course my room did not have an A/C unit. Lucky me. I could have waited to see if someone left at the beginning of the month and took their unit, but I did not want to wait or be stuck with a 20+ year old mediocre unit. I'm glad I didn't wait. I used my best buy card too, so I get points back anyway. Unit works great. My room is about 180 square feet, so the unit definitely has enough power for it. It can maintain the cool temp I want even when it's 100 outside. It's been on auto mode ever since I put it in. It's not any louder than any other window unit, the white noise doesn't bother me at all. It did start to make a little weird noise when the compressor cycles through, but that is an expected noise given how these things work. I hope it holds up to continued use for the rest of the summer, we will see. I like the remote control too.

This air conditioner is awesome! Powerful and cold! The remote control is convenient for when I’m laying in bed. Compared to some of the other brands, this unit is decently quiet. Not too noisy to be a distraction. At 6,000 BTU, it’s meant for larger rooms. My bedroom is approximately 20x20 and I feel COLD air less than 10 seconds after turning the unit on the “cool” setting and the highest fan speed. This is the perfect unit for these unbearably hot summer months. 10/10 would recommend this unit! Can’t put a price on a comfortable sleep and just overall comfortable room temperature during this hot summer.

      Unit is quiet but…

Pros: Unit is quiet and capable of cooling a large room. Cons: Auto cool settings are not helpful in anyway. Engineers got carried away with trying to save electricity, so you can’t achieve the one thing that everyone would want. Select a desired temperature setting, set it for auto, and have it shut off whenever it reaches that temperature. Have it resume whenever the temperature was exceeded. Instead this unit constantly sets the room for Boiling hot, no matter what selection is made. The only choice is to set it for drastically cold, and this unit will get a room drastically cold, just remember to wake up in the middle the night and adjust it… Repeatedly
