Q: Will the scanner scan a color document

A: Absolutely!

Q: Does this work with Catalina? Will I have to do any special downloads to get it to work with Catalina?

A: Yes, this unit works with Catalina.

Q: Can you scan drivers licenses, passports or ID cards? Or do we still need a flatbed scanner for those documents?

A: The iX1500 can scan plastic ID cards, but it cannot scan a passport booklet. The only Fujitsu scanner that can scan a passport booklet through its feeder is the fi-800R. The other option is to use a flatbed scanner, like the fi-7240 or fi-7260. Regards, Eric

A: Yes, the iX1500 scans business cards and stores the data in a repository under the business card class. You can then sort the cards by company name or personal name. If you view a card there are up to 3 mini icons that you can click on; one opens an e-mail to the person on the card, the other opens the company's web site, and the 3rd icon opens a map showing the location of the person's office. Q: Will it automatically scan both sides? How well does it scan pictures (black & white and color)? Also, is it fast? I have a LOT of files to scan. Thanks!

A: Yes scans both sides and leaves out any blank pages. It is fast about one sec per doc. You can change the settings if you don't like the defaults to scan better. I think you will love it! I want to scan photos also but right now working on documents for a non-profit.

A: I never had the Fujitsu ix500, but I can say that the ix1500 is a really nice scanner. Great true wireless scanning, mobile scanning, scan to multiple locations (even to a cloud service), The unit has a snap-in connection that makes it easier to scan both regular size sheets (8.5x11), receipts (even long ones), pictures, and business cards. I really love this product.

Q: Can this scanner be setup and used with a chromebook, i.e. requires no other computer?

A: Thank you for contacting PFU Canada. the IX1500 does not support Chromebook with the USB connector. The IX1500 does have Wifi connectivity to upload documents to the cloud without a computer to Dropbox, Google Drive etc.

Q: Can you use the scanner with an ipad. No computer involved?

A really great scanner!!
This is my first scanner that isn't a flat bed, and I am really impressed. It attaches to my workstation wirelessly, and it allow for the set up of multiple scanning profiles, specifying the type of document, the quality, and the location to store the captured image to (even to a cloud service like dropbox). The scanner is very compact / fits nicely on my desk. The scanning speed is really fast, and it scans both the front and back of the documents. It also scans business cards and receipts, and captures the detailed information in both the scan and in text format for metadata that is searchable. I really love this scanner.

Finally True Wireless!
This is my 3rd Fujitsu ScanSnap I have purchased for home/office use. I have still have the original S1500 hooked up to an older iMac. I had been using the iX500 the fees since it came out. The iX500 needs to be connected to a computer so I never really utilized the WiFi feature. Let’s face it you can find awesome scanning mobile apps for phones and tablets. So if I need to scan something on the fly I can. I scan everything automatically into Dropbox so whatever I scan is always accessible from any of my devices any time and anywhere. With the iX1500 I can leave it set up near the counter where incoming mail usually stacks up. Now I can open the mail or empty my receipts etc. and scan them and then throw them into the recycling bin! My iX500 is connected to computer on my desk in my office so I would let things pile up and then eventually scan them. Now I can scan everything as it comes in and I just love not having to use a computer. I have tried Epson and brother scanners and returned them all because the ScanSnap software is the easiest and most efficient. At work we have various models of Fujitsu ScanSnaps and we are still using several of the older 1500s as well as the higher end models. We can’t use anything WiFi/Bluetooth for security reasons (Military). But the software and drivers for the ScanSnaps are extremely user friendly and reliable.

Great for home use
Helped me get rid of all my paper clutter at home. Easy to set up and use, highly recommend for beginners. Watched Alejandra Costello “Best scanner to go paperless” video on YouTube was hesitant at first due to price, but after seeing piles of paper ready to go to the trash I have to recommend this scanner!
