I have put my silverware in dirty and they have always come out clean; however, I have put bowls in dirty with dried on food and one was clean. but the other had a little bit of dried food on it. They say when you use the disposer that you have to keep cleaning it out, so we don't want to use that feature so much. I had a Whirlpool before and they had the utensil compartment on the door, which is really nice, because you have alot more room in your bottom rack; you can fit about 4 more plates. I would have spent more money if we had it to buy a better Whirlpool, definitely do your research. We had to replace our Whirlpool it was here when we moved in 7 yrs ago and started rusting and the rack was falling apart. But we are satisfied with the overall cleaning and drying of this dishwasher, we use it everyday and have had it almost a week now. Miss the extra room on the bottom rack forsure. Definitely check out the Whirlpools. Unless room isn't your issue, we are a family of 4, so we need room. I am going to purchase the extended warranty after reading reviews. I use Electrasol, dishwashing det. it cleans better than Cascade and doesn't fog your glasses. The dishwasher has been clean when I open it, no food in the bottom of dishwasher, so that is very good.

Replaced a cheap non GE dishwasher that did a fantastic job even after 10 years because we changed to stainless steel appliances. I wanted matching appliances since we will be selling our house soon. Best Buy offered 3 years no interest and I needed a certain refrigerator, so I ended up with this matching GE dishwasher. It is much louder than the old one and seems like it spends more time draining than washing. My dishes and silverware are totally spotted - I don't use the heat dry and never did before, so I was hoping this GE would work as good as my old non GE dishwasher.
