    Synopsis

    Ghostbusters II
Ivan Reitman's sequel to the phenomenally successful Ghostbusters is looser and more self-assured than the original. The film opens with a title reading "Five Years Later" and finds the ghostbusters living in hard times. A restraining order has forbidden the boys to partake in paranormal warfare, and as a result they have had to seek other lines of work. Ray (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston (Ernie Hudson) spend their time performing at children's' birthday parties, and Egon (Harold Ramis) is busy conducting experiments investigating the effect of human emotions on the environment, leaving ghostbusting behind. Venkman (Bill Murray) and Dana (Sigourney Weaver) have split up. Venkman now hosts a local cable show called "The World of the Psychic." Dana, now divorced and the mother of a little baby named Oscar, works as an art restorer in a museum -- and this is where the plot kicks in. While Dana is restoring a portrait of a 16th-century tyrant by the name of Vigo the Carpathian, the portrait becomes hexed. The evil Vigo wants to return to life by taking over the body of Dana's little child. Vigo has enlisted Dana's boss, Janosz Poha (Peter MacNicol), to compel Dana to cooperate. Soon dirty sludge and slime flow through the streets of Manhattan, and the ghostbusters have to reunite to save the city from a funky paranormal evil. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

Ghostbusters II(1989) is not as memable as the first movie. It still has the same cast of characters as the first movie, but with different setpieces, plot, and ghosts.Vigo(Wilhelm von Homburg)is the new ghostly villian who lives in a painting in the museum, and must have a child's body to walk the Earth again. The music this time around is not as memable as the first except for Jackie Wilson's "Higher and Higher",and maybe Bobby Brown's "On Our Own".This movie to me would not be remembered if it weren't for the first film in the series.Ivan Reitman once again is directing, and Harold Ramis, and Dan Aykroyd are writting the script, but some of the shots in the movie feel like Reitman was doing a "Return of the Blob" type film with Ghostbusters mix into it,River Of Slime.Well this movie was made five years after the original Ghostbusters(1984).

I’ve always liked the film. Saw it in the theater. The cast is still perfect in their roles. Good film BUT NOT CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL. The story was lacking Dana got married & divorce between films & has Oscar. So, The spark between her & Peter was lost. Bill you can NOT beat his performance in both films as Venkman. The DVD package. Lack of anything special. NO EXTRAS EXCEPT 2 EPISODES OF THE ANIMATED SHOW. CHEAP. REAL CHEAP. They did NOT even add a trailer or anything else. No video for the Bobby Brown song. Nothing. Next time we release the film on DVD LET'S DO A BETTER JOB. YOU GUYS DID NOT EVEN TRY.

Continuing the love from my Ghostbusters PopArt Steelbook review, just as much can be said for the Ghostbusters 2 PopArt release - it's a wonderful addition to my collection. I love the designs coming from the PopArt collective and I'm glad Best Buy is putting them on steel. Both films have artwork that emulates with 80's goodness, with vibrant neon colors (Blue/Green tones and colors for the first film, Yellow/Orange for the second.) I can't wait to see what's next - Keep em' coming!

We all love the original ghostbusters and we love the sequel. This is the perfect addition to your collection. The art cover is an exclusive from best buy. My only issue was the vudu code for ghostbusters 1 was for ghostbusters 2, even though the insert said ghostbusters 1. But if this happens to you, just set up Sony account, you need it. Email a pic of the insert to sony help. And they will push the corrected movie to vudu.

Ghostbusters II. I saw this film in the theatre in 1989 as a child. I was in love immediately. I was obsessed with Ghostbusters and The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. I do not understand all of the hate and bashing this film takes from the fans, I think it is fun and interesting. Not nearly as well written or structured as the previous film, but entertaining and more geared towards the younger fans for sure.

What can be said about this movie that has not already been said. This sequel is not as good as the original classic but is still a fun movie. . The script by Dan Aykroyd and the late great Harold Ramis is a little too familiar at times and the direction by Ivan Reitmanis still solid. The cast is still great and the chemistry is still there. The 4K restoration is amazing and as good as the first film.

Ghostbusters II on blu-ray is finally here, and does not disappoint. It's like watching again in the theater only in your living room, and probably clearer. I did not find as much film grain in this one as Ghostbusters but that may not be due to post processing but due to better film used in the later movie. Either way, it brings back memories and if you are a Ghostbusters fan this is defiantly a good value.

You know, some companies do a better job at 4K than others; Columbia Pictures (Sony) has the best adaptations of their films to 4K than any other company. For being 30 years old, this movie looks amazing! This is a classic and needs to be seen and shown to the younger generation proving to them that humor does not need to be vulgar to be laugh out loud funny.
