Includes Nest Cam Outdoor
It stands watch 24/7, rain or shine. Plugs into power, sends alerts to your phone when it detects activity, and lets you talk back through the Nest app.
Arm and disarm however you like
Use the Nest app from anywhere, tap Nest Tag on Nest Guard or enter a passcode. Or just say, "Hey Google, set security to Away and guarding," and the built-in Google Assistant will arm for you.
Get Remind Me alerts
If you forget to arm your alarm, you can get a Remind Me alert on your phone so you can arm right from the Nest app.*
Look out for doors, windows and rooms
Nest Detect is a sensor that does many things. Stick it on a window, and it detects open/close. Stick it on a wall, and it senses motion. On a door, it does both. With a built-in motion sensor, Nest Guard also protects a room.
Open quietly
Press the button on Nest Detect to open a door without setting off the alarm. The house stays armed and the alarm stays silent.
It's easy for everyone
Tap Nest Tag on Nest Guard to arm and disarm the alarm. Without a passcode. Put one on your keychain and give one to someone you trust. And give one to someone you trust.
Know what's happening at home
With the free Nest app, you can arm and disarm from anywhere. Check in on your home anytime. And if the alarm goes off, you'll get a security alert.
Just ask Google.
The built-in Google Assistant can help you manage tasks, get answers and control your home.
*Mobile notifications and mobile control require working internet and Wi-Fi. Or get cellular backup (sold separately). Google Assistant requires internet, Wi-Fi, and a Google account.
Nest Secure and cellular backup do not provide third-party monitored emergency notifications, response or police dispatch.

Great system, nearly perfect
Posted .I am not sure what's going on with people given "one star" on this product. Before you purchase the item, didn't you do some homework? Before I bought it, I also considered Ring, ismart and Samsung ADT, I know Nest can only be place on a flat surface, not on the wall, because there is a sensor to detect people on the main guard device. The main device is not huge, but will be too fat if you put that on the wall, unlike nest thermostat or ecobee or other security panel, the built in speaker is great. And all the nest detect works great. If there is something I don't like, that will be the detect is a bit too pricey, typically for the sensor, it is $20-35, and I dont really need all sensor to have "quiet exit" function. Also the camera subscription is expensive, while Ring offer $10/month flat fee for all the ring cameras installed, Logitech charge $3.99/month for each camera and Amazon icloud camera charge $9.99/ month for up to 5 camera, Nest charge $10/ month for each camera! That is really expensive. Other than these two things, installation is easy, and system runs well ! And it looks modern and great.

Nice system but uses magnets for the doors.
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. The systems works great and we have had it i stalled for a while now but we like it for the tone when a door gets opened. Like have a 4 ur old with a lot of energy and we mainly wanted it so we could make sure he stayiled in the house with us. We havent tried the arm side of it. I know it sounds old but we live in a rural area and the house is off the road a ways but we have 2 dogs and didnt know how well it would work but you can shut the motion sensors off but then only the doors would have sensors. A lot of break ins they go through windows so without the motion sensors on it wouldnt go off anyways. We will try it soon the see how well the alarm side works.

Checks all the boxes!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. If you are looking for an alarm system that meets you where your needs are, this is a great fit. A few things right off the bat: - The base unit is smaller than you think - The sensors (while more expensive than competitors) are not only door open/close but also motion sensors and can be wall mounted - The key fobs are very convenient for activating and deactivating - The bundled camera is a great value if you already have Nest as your camera system for home Installation is very easy and simple and the integration with the overall Nest set up is simple and easy. The configuration options (time to turn off the alarm, time to leave the house when activating, motion sensing...etc.) are excellent. When using location tracking with the app, the alarm system will notify you if you left home but did not turn on the alarm. The motion setting options do have an option if you have pets as well. You do not have to connect to a service provider with this system which is a nice option. If you do want to sign up, you can go month to month or sign an annual subscription (I think its a 36 month agreement but you get a discount). You can add additional sensors and cameras and key fobs. It's very modular. I purchased this when it was on sale for $349 US (the non camera was $249) and have been very pleased with it.

Great product, and easy to set up.
||Posted .I purchased the starter kit. The online installation videos on Nest's website make it very easy to follow the setup and installation of the base (brain) and all of the sensors. The system is very easy to activate and deactivate not only at the base, but also with the Nest App. The door/motion sensors are very cool, because they have the ability to "bypass" a door sensor (in case you need to let your pet out to do their "business" without having to deactivate the entire alarm system). All you have to do is press the button on the bottom of the sensor, and wait for the green light. Then open the door. To let your pet back in, just press the button again. The sensor re-arms itself each time the door closes. The sensors and base also have courtesy lights on them, so if you're walking around in the house at night, they'll shine an (adjustable brightness) path light for you. The alarm monitoring is done by Brinks Home Security, and is affordable. And once you set up a contract, Brinks activates a cellular back up, so if your wifi or internet goes down, you're still protected.

I've Never Felt Safer!
||Posted .We love our nest cam and nest home security system. Install was super easy! And it operates as expected 99.9% of the time. We have had a few issues, such as the camera going offline from time to time. But I think that has been more an issue with our wi-fi than the camera itself. We also had an issue with one of the Nest Detects malfunctioning, as it said the battery was dead. We replaced the battery and the same thing happened the following day. We returned it without issue, and haven't had trouble since. We've called customer support a couple of times, first when we were setting it up and trying to get our Nest Aware 30-day trial period started, and then when the Nest Detect malfunctioned. CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS AWESOME! You talk to real people, who are really helpful, and actually care about resolving your issue and making sure you're happy. The camera is clear and crisp. Despite the issues people have with it picking up wind and leaves, etc. I don't mind that. I'd rather get a few false alarm notifications on my phone, than have something bad happen to my home. The notifications are also super easy to check on your phone. I just swipe to view in my home screen on my iPhone, and if I don't see a person, I know it's a false alarm. If you're looking for something to make your home feel safe and secure, this is definitely it!

Great Package, Irritating Flaws
||Posted .There are MANY reviews online about this product, so I purchased it solely to try it out, with an eye on returning it unless it was a "perfect" fit. I had the unit in place for about 30 days, then returned it, I needed the scheduling and more consistent sensor behavior to justify the price, so maybe I'll get it down the road. I won't go into exhausting detail, many other reviews do that well, I'll only focus on the major areas that were good/bad for me. : GOOD: - Loud alarm (2600 sqft, placed centrally, we have 1st floor hardwood and ceramic tile floors, with a fully carpeted 2nd floor - no problems hearing with all doors closed) - Ease of setup (It was being introduced into an existing Nest environment - Hello, Yale, Outdoor Cam - it setup with no problem) - Package contents (the alarm plus the Outdoor Cam is a great package, especially with already having other components like the doorbell and another cam) - Base unit (It looks great, easy to read, great buttons, and I love that it's also a sensor) - Integration (no conflicts with other Nest devices, and it worked with the Yale to disarm the system upon entry) - Notifications (speedy on-phone notifications and emails, sent to multiple users with no noticeable delay) BAD: - Unable to schedule on/off (this is somewhat preferential, but for my needs, I needed it to be able to turn itself off at one specific time during the day, and there is no ability to schedule a time period) - Sensor inconsistency (there were more than a few times where I was in the detection area by a few feet and it failed to detect) - Sensor options (pressing the sensor to temporarily disarm is only useful if it's placed near your walking path; also, the base unit's sensor is in one direction only, and it doesn't have a very wide detection zone) - Sensor adhesive (not bad, but unexpectedly irritating: the adhesive strip on the sensor is extremely strong - be careful when placing, the paint will almost certainly come off the wall, maybe use scotch tape first or something to test the location)

I enjoy Nest products.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed.I have enjoyed having Nest products. This alarm system is a nice starter kit. Even if you weren't to absolutely love it, it is still just enough of a sampler kit that you could use it for something creative like tracking movement of your kids in an area you are trying to keep to keep them out of like a home office or the pool area. It is a nice monitoring system. I use it as an addition to a wired system in our large house. I have a contact on an interior door in one place to monitor interior activity of a room we like to keep secure.

Love Nest products, hate Nest Aware
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I’d recommend the products to anyone. The camera is crystal clear, I can get live video anytime, anywhere. Without paying the subscription, you get notifications of motion when away or all the time, your choice. The subscription isn’t that much, but I was promised a free Hub with a new subscription and Google told me I had to ask Nest, Nest said I had to go to Google, and all they’d offer is a free Nest Mini. Customer service between Google and Nest is atrocious, but that has nothing to do with Best Buy or the product itself. Buy the product, avoid the Nest Aware subscription

Q: QuestionIf I understand it correctly, the base has to plug in to a power outlet and it's where the alarm coming out. If a killer is breaking in and the alarm goes off, the killer can locate the base and unplug the power to kill the alarm. It doesn't sound secure.
Asked by cardnexus.
- A:Answer There is a wall cover for the plug that screws into the electrical box. But the cable to the detect can be removed. Note when this happens the battery kicks in. If and when monitoring by a third party is added, it will notify the monitoring station as well as the app. That's why they added the battery backup :)

Q: QuestionHow many cameras can be added to the system? Doe the cameras have DVR capability or something similar? Thanks.
Asked by AlarmQuestion.
- A:Answer You can add as many cameras as you'd like. The cameras record to the cloud, but you have to pay for this service. $100/year for 7 days of storage.

Q: QuestionCan someone please confirm that it will take 30 second to trigger the alarm and there's no software or hardware can change the setting? I just find that hard to believe. Thanks.
Asked by cardnexus.
- A:Answer The Nest Secure has a customizable range from 30 seconds to 5 minutes before the alarm will sound. Once a door or window is opened while in Home and Guarding or Away and Guarding, you’ll receive a heads up on the Nest Guard and the countdown will begin before the alarm goes off. Q: Questionwhy are you calling this an alarm system when in fact it is a “delayed” alarm system.?
Asked by Calypso64.
- A:Answer If there wasn't a delay, the screeching alarm would go 9ff every time you open the door when system is armed. It give you time to get in the house and turn off the alarm.

Q: QuestionIs this product capable of using a SIM card? That way, if my WiFi and/or power goes out, The alarm is still functional and I’ll still receive notifications
Asked by David.
- A:Answer The Nest Secure is designed with a 12 hour battery backup in case power goes out. There is also a cellular backup option to ensure you still receive alerts if WiFi is lost. More details here: https://nest.com/support/article/Frequently-asked-questions-about-Nest-Secure

Q: QuestionDo other Nest products with motion built into them, like Nest Protect and Nest Thermostats, work as extra motion sensors for the alarm system?
Asked by Davedray.
- A:Answer While Nest leverages motion detected by Nest Protect and Nest Thermostat for Home/Away assist, the requirements for security and intrusion are more stringent in order to reduce false alarms. That’s the difference between detecting occupancy versus detecting intrusion. With intrusion we need to be more certain that it is a person in the room to avoid false alarms. Also, devices must be certified for security in order to sound the alarm.
