Great video, but camera overheats a lot
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only 4 stars due to the fact my GoPro 7 black randomly freezes and gets super hot within 10-15 mins of video recording (doesn’t matter if it’s in 1080P or 4K) at other times it can go a good 35 mins being super hot yet functional. It’s pretty annoying because it’s a hassle to use this thing when I need it quickly. In other words, it’s unreliable. When it is frozen/unresponsive I have to pull the battery out to reset it. Other thing that is a pain with this thing is the short battery life. I have found turning off the WiFi connectivity does keep the heat down but I really like using my iPhone as a view finder. As far as the actual hyper smooth video it shoots? Pure awesomeness. Don’t even need a gimbal with this thing. 1080P 60FPS is great, along with 2.7k and 4K video is amazing. I do have this paired up with the GoPro USB-C to 3.5mm Mic Adapter tied into a Rode microphone and that works great too, but I still think it’s a joke I need a box attached to my GoPro that is 1/3 the size of the camera it’s self just for Mic input. I will stay hopeful GoPro with address the overheating issues with future updates, and will recommend to friends/co-workers to get this GoPro but warning them of the overheating/freeze issues.

Great video a few flaws
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: -The video clarity and colors are great. -The time warp feature is fun. -The physical size is optimal for easily carrying it with you. Cons: -The unit gets very hot with continual use. -The battery life is still terrible, about 45 minutes max with mixed video/photo use and it only comes with one battery and no external charging block. -The housing that comes in the box doesn’t allow for you to charge the unit while encased. To charge or change the battery/SD card you have to remove the GoPro from the housing. -It requires a lot of extras to be bought ($150+) to get to a standard level of use/protection. Screen protectors or a full carrying case, a grip/lanyard/tripod, or even an external battery charger would have been great additions considering the $400 price tag. Overall, it’s still one of the best mini adventure cameras out there for quality. I just hope that they eventually work out the battery life and make the housing more usable (like many of the non-GoPro housing units available online).

Amazing camera, worried I got a lemon.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality is excellent and hypersmooth is all the buttery goodness it's hyped up to be. It's feature rich and intuitive. This camera is easy to use (it's my first gopro) and gives amazing results. With that being said I'm sad to admit I've had major issues right of the bat. This thing gets really hot really quick. Like 6-7 minutes into recording, my infrared thermometer had given me readings of up to 134°f when measuring the temp on the front facing LCD. I'm worried it might melt the internals. I've also had a few issues with the screen flipping out and freezing up. It locks up and does some jittery matrix like screen and makes a high pitched rapid clicking noise. Removing battery is the only solution. Its happened 3 times and fortunately I wasn't recording anything worth keeping. Oddly enough it's only done this when I initially power it on and go to the library to view media. It doesn't seem to be related to the heat issue. Also, there's a line of pixels that are completely out across the bottom of the front facing LCD. It's been like that since day one. Didn't realize it wasn't supposed to be like that until I YouTube'd tutorials and saw other's weren't like that. I could live with that but with everything combined, meh.. I really want to keep this thing because the video looks so good and the stabilization is truly amazing, but I've had too many issues to keep this particular one. I'm debating on whether I should wait for the next model after reading similar reviews about heat. Not confident this camera can make it in the long haul getting that hot. Other than that, it's awesome. Wish I could have left a better review.

Great camera, easy to use!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first I was afraid to buy the GoPro since I am not a tech savvy, but I do like to travel a lot and needed a small easy to use water camera, so after so much thought I decided to give it a try. It is so easy to install the app on your cell ph,and the cámara is so easy to use, so easy that my 7yr old grandson was able to navigate thru all the camera with me, the only thing I do not like is that it gets hit very fast and battery runs out within 2 hrs, so you may want to be prepared with an external battery or plug it in every time you can, other than that, great product!

Got some Great underwater video.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to take video during my trip to Hawaii. Even though it was supposed to be waterproof without a case, I bought one because you know: saltwater. It performed great and I got video of dolphins, sea turtles, and colorful reef fish. It took great video in all sorts of light conditions. One thing you should know: Gopro made this model so your old batteries and housing won't fit or work with this camera. Nice for them. More expensive for you.

Great Action Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found the Go Pro 7 menu easy to navigate and the stabilization is excellent. I video at 1080p 60 fps and get approximately 90 minutes battery life. I would suggest a second battery if you are going to be shooting higher resolution or will be spending more time out.

BEYOND EXPECTATION!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the GoPro Hero Black 7 for a recent Class 4 whitewater rafting trip. As you can see in the pictures I put it to the test. The 4K video was beyond expectation. It also was nice not having to worry about water damage because it is waterproof. It clipped easily onto the helmet they gave me to wear. The record button is easily accessible. The voice command is very simple, but could not use it on the River because of the noise from the rapids. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Better than previous models
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is easier to use than previous versions. The older models settings could get really confusing. Also the already included LCD screen is a plus. Downfall, it freezes often. :( The pictures and videos are super clear and sharp but you will find yourself pulling out the battery to reset. I guess a small inconvenience for great pics.

Q: QuestionHow long will the GoPro 7 record? Minutes/ Hours?
Asked by Info.
- A:Answer It depends on the video selections and the size of your sd-card. Using a 128GB sd-card I could get around 8 hours of standard HD video. Only about 4 hours if I used 4k resolutions. The battery itself will also vary based on ambient temperature, etc. But 1 hour of actual recording time is my general experience and expectation. Hope that helps!

Q: QuestionHow long can the GoPro Hero 7 record?
Asked by cwilson.
- A:Answer Recording time is determined by the power supply and by the SD card you use - the larger the card, the more recording time it can store. For power, you can record with the GoPro plugged in, which would give you unlimited recording time as far as the power goes. If you're using battery power, the recording time ranges from 45 minutes to 90 minutes depending on which mode you're shooting in.

Q: QuestionWill all of the accessories (i.e. batteries, housings, grips, etc) that fit my hero 6 still fit the 7?
Asked by boystoys1.
- A:Answer Yes. The Hero 7 form factor is the same as the Hero 5 and Hero 6, so the battery, housings, grips, etc. will work across all three of the platforms.

Q: QuestionCan it be used as a dash camera
Asked by Cocobi.
- A:Answer I have a Garmin Dash Camera and I’d say that a DashCam is a specialized device that isn’t easily replaced by an action camera or any other camera. A good DashCam will power on when you start your vehicle and start recording. It saves the files at regular intervals to maximize recoverability after a crash and make future review and retrieval easier. They also have G Sensors that automatically save recordings upon impact. They are really optimized for different purposes. You don’t need the aggressive image stabilization that comes with an action camera. You need good image quality, but not 4K and usually you are optimizing for storage capacity to some extent. High res action camera recordings are very large. That said, you could use voice commands and lower resolution recording with this camera and manage the files yourself. It could be made to work with some manual intervention.

Q: QuestionWhat is the biggest memory card you can use, and does anybody know for video how long a 64?, 128, or 256 card well recorded for just approximately. I realize there may be different recording quality settings? Again Thanks in advance for your answers.
Asked by davidOh.
- A:Answer The largest I have seen available in store is 128. But I think you can use any of them that can support 4k writing. 64 is good for about 1 hour
