- A: AnswerIf you intend on using Parking Mode on your camera, then we'd instead recommend using this Hard Wire Kit instead of the Cigarette Lighter Cable. The Hard Wire Kit will allow the camera to draw nominal current from the car's battery, preventing the cam's battery from being drained. The Hard Wire Kit has an in-built voltage cut off which protects the car's battery from being drained below 11.2V. We'd recommend using a Permanent Live fuse with Parking Mode enabled on the camera.

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between the Hardwire kit series 2 and the ODB power cable?(1 answer)
A: AnswerHello, Thank you for reaching out, The Nextbase OBD Power Cable connects to your car's OBD-II port for a simple, plug-and-play installation and easy to remove when needed. While the Hardwire Kit for Series 2 Nextbase Dash Cameras connects directly to your fuse box for a more permanent solution. Both wiring options allow the dash cam to run continuously, even when the vehicle is off, making it ideal for parking mode. Q: QuestionWill it work with any dash cam brand? Thanks in advance.(2 answers)
A: AnswerI doubt it will work very well, if at all. For it to even possibly works, the dashcam would need to take a mini-USB type-B jack. (Denote that it is mini and not micro like phones used to use before USB C.) Even if a dashcam is mini-USB, the connector is angled to fit specifically into the Nextbase's windshield mounting bracket. So it could be an awkward fit to another brand.Answered by Charles
- A: AnswerHello Chas, We'd only suggest using a Nextbase Hard Wire Kit to power the camera as we cannot guarantee the functionality of a third party power source.

- A: AnswerYES-I connected mine to a spare fuse slot in the fuse panel under the dash, It only had power when the key was on.Just use the right size fuse adapter that comes with the wiring kit.
