Roomy, Bright, and Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One word: Wow! While that's rather blunt, the honest truth is that you don't realize how nice space is until you have it. Compared to your average 17" monitor, you gain a huge amount of space, and for that matter, it truly becomes a television. I use this monitor on a daily basis, watching television and movies from the laptop this is connected to, in addition to web browsing and a moderate amount of design work. The monitor's size is truly stunning when you open the box, though that could just be me. Overall, it works amazingly, though I would note that external speakers are best considering the internal ones are rather faint and the sound appears to depend upon being backed against something. Other than that, it works amazingly, a quick connection, resolution change, and you're up and running.

Best Monitor Ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You see, I have a laptop that I use very often. I wanted to set up a home station for it, like having a wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and a printer all at my desk. That way when I come back from a vacation or a business trip, I can just hook everything back up to my laptop. This monitor was perfect for that! I love the fact how you can plug an HDMI cord into it, because my laptop has an HDMI Output. Thanks to the built in speakers, I didn't have to buy any! This is perfect for people who are into gaming or editing multimedia.

Excellent monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent monitor. Picture quality is outstanding. I have this hooked up to my DV7 laptop running vista home premium via vga cable and too my xbox 360 via hdmi. Both run perfectly and to max resolution without issue. Xbox gaming is smooth and crystal clear. No USB ports is a shame. Not important to me but could be to some. I can also sympathise with those complaining about reflections on the screen fromthe shiny finish but again this is not a problem for me. I would HIGHLY recommend this. Best Buy price matched Staples price of $219.98 and best buy service is excellent.

Big, beautiful monitor at a reasonable price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this monitor roughly two weeks ago to go with an Asus CG5270 desktop. I already had a 22" Samsung monitor, but I wanted to set up a dual display for convenience and productivity, so after careful consideration I chose this model for its size and affordability. This choice surprised me because I've been pretty loyal to Samsung for years now; however their current line of monitors are slightly overpriced in my opinion, and don't really suit my taste (they are little clones of the ToC LCD TV's, and that look does not translate well to a small scale in my opinion!) The 1920x1280 native resolution is crisp and provides loads of workspace on your desktop! While I haven't played a wide variety of games on this monitor yet, I have played Crysis: Warhead and World of Warcraft extensively on it (through an NVIDA GeForce GTS 250 video card, both games in windowed mode). Gameplay in both games looks amazing, shard and crisp animation. I have also watched several DVD's in fullscreen playback, and they look great (well, as good as you can hope from a non-Bluray disc!) This monitor handles both gaming and movies very well. My only real complaints about this monitor are design-related. Hewlett Packard designed this monitor with a roughly 1/8" gap along the top and bottom to clip notes and whatnot to the monitor, which is a dubious feature and makes an otherwise handsome monitor a little strange looking. The base is slightly wobbly (especially compared to my Samsung) but not troublesome. I would also expect such a monitor to have VGA, HDMI, and DVI connections, but this particular model does not have a DVI connection, only VGA and HDMI. Many current generation video cards have DVI ports only, so you may want to consider this. I personally used the included VGA cable temporarily and ordered an HDMI to DVI cable from an online retailer for about $12 shipped. Let me just say that this monitor looks great even with a VGA connection, and looked even better once I switched to the HDMI / DVI cable I ordered. Overall this monitor performs very well and looks great, and is very reasonably priced for the size and quality. I strongly recommend to anyone searching in this price range.

Quite happy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've got my new w2338h sitting right next to my 3 year old Apple 20" Cinema display. I purchased the w2338h in the hopes of replacing my single apple with 3 23" 1080p screens, although I wanted to keep the HP and the Apple side by side for at least a month before deciding if I was to go through with it and buy the other 2 w2338h monitors. I specifically picked the w2338h because I like glossy screens due to their superior image (IMO), it is native 1080p, and I wanted the ability to mount it on the wall with a VESA mount. There aren't very many 23" monitors that fit that bill. In terms of comparing the image on the w2338h (which uses a TN type panel) and the Apple (which uses a IPS type panel), there are some differences. HP: +3 inches larger +slightly deeper blacks +reasonably priced +1080p movies and games look great! -narrow viewing angle. Moving your head even a little bit will change the colors on the screen -only 1 HDMI and 1 VGA port. Wish it had another HDMI or DVI port. -without tweaking, text can be a bit harder to read Apple: +slightly better color definition, in that very small differences in colors next to each other are a bit more noticeable +easier to read text on, but some tweaking of the contrast on the HP has helped this quite a bit. +Aluminum bezel is still gorgeous -super expensive -only 1 DVI port Overall, I'm quite happy with the HP as I play a lot of games, and I don't do a lot of work that requires perfect color accuracy. The great looking image, large screen size, and price are enough to sway me into buying 2 more w2338hs to replace the Apple even if the Apple does provide a slightly better image.

Great looking monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced a dying 24" LCD monitor with two of these (dual display). Great picture quality for both gaming and work (Powerpoint/Word/Visual Studios). And the price was right for me to go ahead and make the leap to dual displays. Makes working with multiple documents a breeze! If only it supported 1920x1200, this would be the perfect monitor. Those extra 120 pixels I had on my previous display were nice feature. Also, don't expect to use the built in speakers as a replacement for external speakers. I use them as surround speakers to my existing pair. I highly recommend.

Excellent, excellent, excellent!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After weeks of scouting for an LCD monitor at least 22 inches all over the net and various stores, I ended up buying this HP in my local Best Buy. It was a bit more expensive compared to other LCDs and for the price you could buy a larger screen but the performance more than made up for it. I bought this as a monitor to my macbook and as a gaming LCD for my Xbox 360 and I must say it was perfect. The screen is beautiful, allowing me to see pictures in full detail and the color reproduction is awesome. I had no problems once I plugged in my macbook and the screen rivals/beats the more expensive Apple Cinema LCDs for the fraction of the costs. HDMI was excellent, allowing me to connect a ps3, xbox and even my tv box for viewing. Its for sale in numerous stores and its cheaper refurbished but when buying an LCD as expensive as this refurbished models are not recommended and the savings is not worth it. I went all out buying it at Best Buy to ensure good support and returns in case of dead pixels (none whatsoever). Many don't provide the support and no - questions asked returns best buy does. Would you really like the hassle of having to ship something this big back if it had dead pixels? Do yourself a favor and buy it at the store. The design is great, classy looking with a bit of reflection in bright light. The buttons are placed in the bottom for easy access with the power button solely at the top. I would have rated this perfect but the speakers were somewhat of a disappointment. It was clear enough for soft music and system sounds, but it cracks and is weak at full volume. Overall, a great buy. The high price is actually cheap with what you're getting. I now hate using anything else but this.

Another Great Product from HP (As usual)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this online bundled with an HP Elite 9150. This shipped ahead of time, so I've been trying it out on other things for the time being. HP dv6000 laptop- Only outputs to 720p resolution, but the monitor works great even with the VGA connection. The screen was filled out perfectly. My grandfather, who just had cataract surgery, said that it's things like this monitor that make him glad he had the procedure. To the review a couple of lines down from me, with the problem of not being able to fill the screen, may I suggest buying a higher quality HDMI cable? I got along to Best Buy and picked up a Monster 900 Ultra series. Yeah, I unloaded $90 by the time it was all said and done, but there's no doubting the quality. If you're going to buy this monitor, do yourself a favor and support it with a Monster HDMI. The rule is simple- Your display is only as good as your connection. PS3- WOW. Not to say much for the speakers, but that's okay because hopefully you're not depending on the included 2W speakers. The picture is crystal clear. I've been playing for two years on a 32" Philips LCD TV, and the difference is like night and day. And I don't really notice the size difference, either. All that I could ask for otherwise, after seeing HP's 25.5" model, would be an included USB input. It seems like it would be easy to include, but I don't think it's worth shelling out an extra $150-200 just for an extra two inches and a USB input. Overall, this is a FANTASTIC product, and if Best Buy allowed me to I'd give it 50 out of 50 stars.
