Good, not great.
||Posted .The laptop over all is good, it gets the basics done if that's what you want. I can't attest for high end processing as I haven't yet had the opportunity for it. Still getting used to windows 8, but that's not the laptop or laptop makers issue. However, I have to believe some of the bloatware is. The mouse/touch pad is somewhat annoying. Reminds me of what I hate about Mac mouse/touch pads. Other than that, the one major issue I have with it is the audio. For a "beats" audio product, I expected much better. The speakers are on the bottom. Even on a flat/hard surface the audio sounds like it's in a box. I'm "all about that bass" but with these, I can't get enough treble to provide some clarity, if you will. It is a little heavy, but you can see the weight when you look at the specs, not worth complaining if you were provided the info. The hinges and such seem solid, so that I like. I haven't yet used it much in the "tablet" form.

Very nice features for a good price
||Posted .I got this on cyber monday for $700 (it was open box), and I've been very satisfied with it. I'm a computer science student, so I started checking out the performance and compatibility with my Win7 programs, and they all work well. I personally like the new Windows design, especially with the touchscreen. One thing I didn't like was the hard drive because I wanted a solid state for the performance. I bought a 500GB SSD from Amazon, and it makes a significant difference in booting up and loading programs, especially heavy programs (e.g. Eclipse and VirtualBox VMs). The other thing I didn't like was that it didn't contain a dedicated graphics card, which would make playing HD videos and running apps like Photoshop a bit smoother. But it's still good, though. So all in all, the i7 with 8GB of RAM with a touchscreen was definitely a good buy for the price, and I've had mostly good experiences it.

Love it. Love Windows 8 and learning how to config
||Posted .Love the touch pad - my first experience with it. Lots to learn bhut I'm learning it all. I even migrated my prior Microsoft Office license to my new HP Envy laptop with no problems, though it was a lengthy process. I originally bought MS Office 2003, then upgraded to 2010, and even though I don't have 2013, the HP Envy uses 2010 just fine. Love the thinness, don't miss having a CD drive, though I want to buy and carry a HDMI to VGA adapter because conf rooms often don't have an HDMI cable to use with their projection equipment. Love using the Touch screen. Love it when people oooh and aahhh. Love the crispness of the screen resolution. Love the 360 degree wrapping feature of the screen. Love the long battery life, I've never even gotten close to running out of battery. Love the lightness, the feel. Love it.

let's cook!!!!
||Posted .Amazing what a change makes. I was so against the spaced out keys, I went to Best Buy time and time again and fought it, complained about it. I first purchased another laptop and within that same hour turned around and tried, with my son at my side to find this hardheaded computer purest the one for me. too flimsy, ug plastic, ug keys don't allow me to pound them a bit. Then my son saw it, Had weight to it solid as a rock Firm opening, tight like a new cars steering wheel, and using the keys I now understand the layout. My son said, sit down, put it on your lap. That is when the henpecking comes into play and I got it. The keys are smooth and you glide along, the under light is absolutely the bomb, the flip, I use much more then I ever thought I would. This is the top of the top and I love it. I went on line for the first time in I think 84 and I go back to MultiMate so this dog has been through some programs and this laptop makes the new formatting 8.1 and 13 an easy waltz to learn. May not have been my first choice but thanks to my son it was the best choice. I give it a 10, (and a sexy baby too!!)

Fast and easy to use
||Posted .I got a great deal on thus since it was on sale for $200 off at $699.99 and nothing else in the price range had an i7 processor with 1TB hard drive, which wanted for photo editing and storage. I also wanted full HD for viewing photos. This laptop handles Photoshop CC functions well and the screen is HD and large enough to see the Photoshop features and tools, fonts etc. Some HD screens are too small to be easy to read in the Adobe programs according to reviews and forums that I had read online while doing my research. It took a while for me to learn to navigate the windows 8 platform but the sales rep at Best Buy was very helpful in that regard. Overall I am very pleased with this Laptop purchase. I would have preferred a backlit keyboard for working in dim light but the silver finish does help with that and the light from the display is usually sufficient, I would have given 4 1/2 stars if it was an option, but lack of backlighting is worth losing a whole star, so I gave it a 5 stars. It would be nice to have an optical drive but it isn't a common option anymore so I have to connect to my home group to install anything that comes with a disk or upload a cd to my music library (old school, I know!)

Amazing
||Posted .While at first I was hesitant to buy anything with 8.1, I quickly realized what an asset it is to have. It great to have the option to switch back and forth from the 2 different types of screen; the old fashioned windows screen and the more modern apps screen. The touch screen on this computer is a true touch screen. It's very sensitive and very accurate and somehow it retains minimal smudging even without a protector. As for internal specs, I don't know much about that but my husband said he was impressed with having so much available in such a slim design. It has a very quick boot up time and response time. The mouse pad is overly sensitive but I'm guessing theres a Way to change that. I'd rather deal with overly sensitive than the opposite. Battery life is decent for basic tasks and runs down pretty quick if you're streaming video. But that's like every other laptop I've owned. Overall I'm super happy with this laptop and I'm glad I didn't get something else.

Everything I needed!
||Posted .I originally wanted the SurfacePro, but balked because it's just not beefy enough. So then I was down to this and the Yoga. Based on speed and storage (and reviews) I went the the Envy. I couldn't be much happier. The touch screen, the ability to use it like a TV for Netflix, the full keyboard (with number pad), interface with the dSLR, speed and ease of use make this a total winner. The only thing annoying is that the built ins still want to be proprietary. I'm not using IE, no matter how many times you ask me to pin it.. The fact that it won't let you pin the resources you DO use (Chrome) to the start menu is just pouty. The start page could be awesome, but as it is...I just skip it and toggle through to the desktop.

Great Laptop, Love the 2-in-1 and portability!
||Posted .This laptop is so easy to set up and use. The options usually found on a mouse-left and right click-take some getting used to on this pc, but the mousepad works great. The touch screen is very practical and ideal at the end of long day when you just don't feel like using the clicker. Visuals on the screen are bright, colours are deep and especially enhanced in HD. The Beats audio can't be beat (no pun intended! This sound system really is awesome!) and the keyboard setup reminds me of a Mac without the extra dollars attached. Battery life and processing power is impressive especially when the browser has several tabs open and an ongoing document, not to mention handling a paused video only available via streaming. A lot of thought was put into the design, sleek, yet not too shiny, and functionality to the core. The 360 degree swivel is quite useful for games, and the onscreen keyboard works just as well as the keys themselves. Battery life, again, is impressive-just putting the computer to sleep saves it massively, and does not cause any lag or delay in resuming activity. This is an amazing laptop, and I highly recommend this computer to anyone looking for a high factor processor, great sound, and multitasking ability, as well as the touch-screen and rotation. I also highly recommend the staff and discounts offered at Best Buy itself; the store consistently has great deals, and the knowledgeable employees do their best in product recommendations and fair opinions :)

Q: QuestionDrawing tablet? Can it be used to Draw on it with a stylus? With Sketchbook pro, Zbrush, maya and all other software? I'm studying in Modeling, Conception & 3D Animation, and I need to purchase a great tool to draw digital and do my stuff. Thank you very much
Asked by JmC07.
- A:Answer The unit has the typical touchscreen driven by Microsoft; I don't know if you can use a stylus-you might want to go to BestBuy and try one of the demo units there. Maybe using a stylus is a function of third party application software thru a touchscreen.

Q: QuestionBacklit keyboard?I am asking this question because on HP web-site this computer comes with backlit keyboard, the same like the x360 2-in-1 15.6" with Intel Core i5 on Best Buy site. But for this laptop, BB does not specify "backlit keyboard", but on this question, asked before here, other 3 customers confirmed it has backlit keyboard, and one guy self-named "The_HP_Guru" borrowing the "HP" icon for no reason (he is no HP rep), answers that it does not have backlit keybd, though I am sure this guy does not have this laptop and just answers based on BB descriptions - better stay away from his answers.

- A:Answer This HP PC has a Full-size keyboard with numeric keypad that is not backlit. This HP PC is not available on the HP web site, any model that has a "dx" at the end of the model like this model PC is HP ENVY 15-u011dx x360 Convertible PC that is only available at Best Buy. HP does not rely on BB specs, HP uses the data sheet from the HP Support web site. You can see all the specifications for this HP PC on the specs sheet from the HP support web site at: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04336139&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=7242140. I apologize for any confusion this matter may have caused you.

Q: Questionhow long does the battery last?what doe the specs say? best buy staff information says? what is the experience of the costumers who bought it? HP - give an approximation. (I know things affect it but on average, or how is it advertised?)
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer 6-8 hrs. It depends on your settings on when to shut down. I did charge the battery all the way and let it run all the way down to make sure it would hold a charge. I have found this helps on all my battery powered devices.
