  • Key Specs
    • Effective Pixels: 10 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • General
    • Product Name: f500g HD Vehicle Camcorder
    • Brand: HP
    • Model Number: HPD-F500-VP
    • Color: black
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Resolution (Display): 1920 x 1080 (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to either capture an image or display it. The higher the resolution the finer the image details.)
    • Digital Zoom: None (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • Image Stabilization: None (This feature helps reduce image/video blur or distortion that may occur from unsteady motion.)
    • 360 Degree Capture: false (The capability of the product to record an image incorporating a 360 degree point of view.)
    • Image File Format(s): DCF, JPEG (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Auto/Manual Focus: Automatic
    • Focus Modes: Automatic
  • Exposure Control
    • Maximum Aperture: f/1.8 (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Maximum Focal Length: 2.95 millimeters (The maximum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The greater the focal length, the smaller the area of scene captured.)
    • Effective Pixels: 10 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • Minimum Focal Length: 2.95 millimeters (The minimum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The shorter the focal length, the greater the area of scene captured.)
  • Display
    • Display Type: TFT-LCD
    • Screen Size: 2.4 inches (Size of the screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner.)
    • Touch Screen: false (Touch-screen devices make navigating more intuitive. Using a touch-screen display, you can do things such as tap to select, hold and drag to move items, swipe to scroll, and pinch to zoom.)
    • Varying Angle Screen: false (The camera's screen can be flipped out and adjusted to rotate, tilt, and/or swivel.)
  • Video
    • HDR Mode: false (HDR Mode uses multiple photos taken at different exposures to add more dynamic range to photographs. HDR technology displays content with greater contrast between bright and dark, resulting in clearer and more lifelike images.)
    • Video Encoding Formats: MOV (The process of preparing the video for output, where the digital video is encoded to meet proper formats and specifications for recording and playback with the use of a compatible device.)
  • Compatibility
    • Memory Card Compatibility: microSD, microSDHC (The type of memory card(s) recommended for use with the product.)
  • Features
    • Face Detection: false (A function that automatically detects human faces and then sets focus and appropriate exposure to capture them.)
    • Integrated Speaker(s): true
    • Night Recording: false (The ability to capture and record video in low-light conditions, typically via infrared light or intensifier tubes that amplify existing light to illuminate the scene.)
    • Wind Noise Reduction: false (If you take a lot of outside videos, in windy conditions, you'll need to make sure you have wind noise reduction on your camcorder. It does just what it says it does, cuts down the noise of the wind as it hits the microphone.)
    • Special Effects: false (Image effects accomplished through software applied to images. These can change noise level, gradient, and other aspects of your image.)
  • Connectivity
    • Wireless Connectivity: None (The manner in which a device sends data to another device over a short distance without the use of wires or cables.)
    • Output(s): Composite video, Mini HDMI
    • Microphone Input: false (The device features an input for connecting an external microphone.)

Install some peace of mind onto your windshield with this HP car camcorder. This video camera includes a mounting bracket for your windshield and an 11.4-foot power adapter that fits most vehicle models. This HP car camcorder includes a 140-degree wide-angle lens and records in low light, letting you make clear recordings in the event of an accident.

  • 2.4" color TFT-LCD: With 112K pixels (480 x 234) resolution provides a clear view.
  • 2.1MP, 1/3" CMOS sensor: Captures sharp high-definition footage with 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 resolution at 30 fps.
  • 140° ultrawide-angle lens: With a f/1.9 aperture provides expansive shooting coverage with minimal edge-to-edge distortion.
  • Emergency recording mode: Begins recording when triggered by the 3-axis G-Force and motion sensor to create date- and time-stamped footage that cannot be overwritten by loop recording.
  • Loop recording mode: Captures 3- or 5-minute video clips while you drive. Loop-recording technology erases the oldest clips as new footage is recorded to help manage storage space.
  • 2.1MP still image mode: Lets you shoot crisp, detailed photos.
  • Built-in microphone: Captures clear audio.
  • Memory card slot: Allows you to store photos and videos on microSD and microSDHC cards (not included). Note: Class 6 SDHC card or greater required for high-definition video recording.

Q: What is the largest GB micro SD card will the unit accept??

A: Great question. The camera will take MicroSD / SDHC (Up to 32 GB). Note: Class 6 speed SDHC cards or greater recommended for HD video recording. For detailed specs about this camera, please visit the following link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04589282 I hope this helps.

Q: HOW LONG IS THE CONNECTION CORD THAT I ASUME HAS A CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUG ON ONE END.

A: It has an 11.4 foot power adapter. I hope this helps.

Q: How to attach to windshield?

A: You can do a few things. First clean the area let it dry, and make sure it is not too cold. If that does not work you can buy a new mount that has a 3M stick pad on it. As long as you get a mount that has the same kind of shape for your camera it should work. I have swapped around many camera mount. The stick mounts are also smaller so they do not hang down as much If you want to use a 3m stick mount but want to take it down buy the mount peel off the stick pad it comes with and apply 3M dual lock tape to both the mount and your window. That way you can snap the mount off and on but still have a good hold with a small size mount. I hope this helps

Q: triggered by the 3-axis G-Force?

A: Good question. No one expects to get into a driving accident, but when it happens, the built-in G-force sensor can detect these events and trigger Emergency Video Recording mode. These emergency recordings are date and time-stamped as well as protected from loop recording overwrites. Q: Is the video MAC compatible?

A: I don't have this camera myself, but it if it is a real camera it will record in .mov and if it is a cheap knock off it will record in .avi. If .mov you can use a program called DashCam Viewer for MAC
