I got home with this device and immediately set it to work. USB 2.0 throughput to a jumpdrive worked without having to use the included power adapter even with 4 other devices already connected. I have it as a hub to an onboard 2.0 port so everything up to the hub is 2.0 ready. And it just works. No issues. No non-sense. When using multiple drives of mixed types (jumpdrives, usb-sdd, usb-dvd and usb-ext hd) getting the power supply plugged in gets the motors spinning up and makes things quicker moving around smaller packs of data (no bigger than 2.5 gb per operation). This lets me build up boot and install disks quickly in the background while i have my 3.0 ports moving ten times as much data. It plays nice with wireless devices as well (802.11bgn, wireless kb and mouse, gamepads). A quick solution to your limited port count. Works without extra power in most cases which is good news for laptop users. Pure 2.0 speed. Works fine with 3.0 devices but is ofc slower than a genuine 3.0 hub.

Plastic box with ports lasts three months of use.

I only was able to get a few months of use from this device before it died on me today. From the minute that it was removed from the packaging, it wasn't quite what I had hoped for. It looks and feels very cheap, and the AC power cord was wrapped so tightly in the box that it was quite bent out of shape when I removed it from the packaging. The connecter for the AC power is also too small, and doesn't stay in the device unless taped. Recently, I started having troubles running everything from my harddrive to my wireless mouse off of it. At first, I thought it was the bus powered feature that was breaking. Then I went to unplug and plug it in again, and the USB connecter snapped off of the pcv board, and fell into the body of the device. To repair it would be worthless. I'm disappointed to have spent $30 on this product, and I recommend that others do more research on other available products before purchasing this one.

I purchased this USB hub for obvious reasons, to expand the ports on my desktop computer. I wanted to maximize my ports for the lowest price and the Insignia 7-port USB 2.0 Hub did the trick. I have several external devices including portable hard drives, graphics tablet, mouse and keyboard. All of these devices are USB 2.0 and work perfectly with this hub. Transfer speeds to and from the hard drives are just as fast as when they are connected directly to the computer. Overall the hub is great inside and out. The case is plastic but not cheap or thin feeling. It is actually quite sturdy. Thought the hub comes with an external power supply, I do not have a need for it as it powers all of my peripherals through its connection to the computer. I would definitely recommend this item or the USB 3.0 version which is on my list for my next upgrade, it was just out of my budget this time.

One of the USB ports on my MacBook has become iffy and over sensitive occasionally kicking out new hard drives already hooked in through my old hub when a new drive was added to the chain. My old tactic of porting out over two hubs has been replaced with the ability to add up to seven devices to one hub. No problems have occurred adding extra devices through this hub in the port that wasn't having any issues. I reserve the sensitive port for iDevices now one at a time. I was going to do the 3.0 version, but it was a lot more expensive, and I plan to work my Usb 2.0 MacBook Pro for a long time to come since I've thrown in maximum ram, 512 Gb flash memory, and other than the twitchy usb hub, it has never presented any issues. Besides, my rationale is that I can always eBay this excellent hub after I get my use from it and the pro.

This does pretty much what you would expect which is to simply add additional USB ports to your system. I've bought the bargain brands on eBay before and was disappointed to see that bargain brands had compatibility issues or were simply DoA so I bought this in-store to avoid the hassle of having to deliver and return deliver again through eBay/Amazon. Pros: + Trustworthy brand + Fair price given the specifications + No compatibility issues Cons: - Wires are a bit too short. USB 4 ft. Power plug 6 ft. - Ports are side-by-side which results in clustering - Bottom grip is weak resulting in the HUB constantly moving around my table - Extremely light which is a bad thing because without any weight the HUB moves around even more than it should

This is great! I bought this as an extension to my new Macbook adapter since there are no usb ports and the adapter only comes with 1 usb port. I decided to buy this to connect to the one usb port and hoped that it works since i like to charge my iPhone, iPad, and other peoples devices. I though, better safe than sorry and not be left with wishing i had more ports if i had bought the one with only 2 or 4 ports. Sure i have extensions beyond what is convenient but this is super light and small that it fits purse with my Macbook. I just like knowing that i have the option to hook up up to 7 usb connections if i wanted to although i have yet to use them all. Great product, sleek looking, and best of all, it works with my adapter for my Macbook.

Use 2 of these in conjunction with 1 point of sale laptops. Laptops only have 1 2.0 USB port and 2 3.0 USB ports. Have 5 devices to connect, receipt printer, barcode scanner, card reader, USB NIC (laptops didn't have a NIC port) and a mouse to each. Actually love this setup, all I have to do to pull the systems at the end of the day is disconnect the USB hub and power and I'm done, verses unplugging several items. Also helps when plugging things back in, as everything is left plugged into the hub, that way the laptop recognizes them the same way when the hub is reconnected to the laptop the next day. Has worked excellent so far. Also had no issues with a Linksys USB3GIG USB network adapter through the 2.0 port, even though it's a 3.0 device. Very satisfied!

I absolutely love this. After going out of town and having for people in a room and not having enough outlets I purchased this product. Before this product I worried about leaving cords, Chargers, and devices (phone, tablet and IPad) now I don't. I love being organized and having everything together especially when traveling. With 7 USB ports I was able two charge 3 phones, 2 IPads, 1 tablet, and charge my fit bit all at once . It did not seem to cause slow charging. Went to bed and everything was charged by morning. Also use it in the house to save outlet space and have everything close to me. Great for presents too. I am going to buy at least 3 more as presents. It was money well spent.
