Garbage compared to the Apple version.

I bought this so I can hook my VGA monitor for to my Mac Mini and I wanted to save 5 dollars. The problem is the adapter doesn't update when you plug it in (it is stuck on version 0.00), and because it can't update the screen flickers black like crazy (almost 3 times every few seconds). Trying to download and install the firmware update from Apple's website doesn't get you anything on macOS Sierra since it says it is incompatible when the OS version. Went back to Best Buy to buy the Apple version and it works (it actually automatically installs the latest firmware version, 1.03, unlike this one), and no flickering! Unfortunately, I can't return this one because I threw the receipt and the box away already. Stay far away from the Insignia version and just spent the extra 5 dollars or so for the Apple version.

I love the touchscreen & it's pretty fast. But everything moved. I can't find the older emails although all were transferred. It made a second calendar - I didn't know and missed meetings. Now I don't know how to combine. I can't use the scroll bar to go to the top of the screen - doesn't work - so I have to go by hand. Screen seems glitchy - jumps around when going to another screen or another place on the page. Struggling with the software, but hardware is nice. I SURE DO miss having two USB ports - that was a big bummer. Love that it's so thin, streamlined. Love the new plug in - easy to use and the light tells me it's on. Super nice that it's so lightweight. Touchscreen is great - I just have to remember to use it more. OK having an external CD drive - don't use it much anyway.

I work for a small college that has a lot of Macbooks and a lot of projectors that only have VGA cables. Our faculty manage to lose or destroy so many of these dongles. We finally went to Insignia to save a bit and not have to deal with Apple direct (not fun) because we are ordering large batches of these several times a year. These are not as well made as the official Apple dongles and will not last as long when they are well taken care of. However, our users are very rough with them either way so they usually die to major damage or loss before their cheaper quality can wear out.

The iwatch version 1 is a great deal, however it does not have water resistant protection like the version 2. It's easy to use, and set up but I have had some glitches with the software which is being taken care of. I also noticed that the number of steps taken feature, as well as the activity completed during workouts is inaccurate compared to what I'm actually doing. For example, I was on the elliptical with an accelerated heart rate for 40 minute but my iwatch said it was only 15 minutes. I'm wondering if they fixed this in version 2? Otherwise, I do love the product! I would recommend spending the additional money and getting version 2.

I bought this to to hook up my iMac to have a second monitor... However by hooking up there are something well not work such as netflix giving a problem with the HDCP... One of the main reasons i bought it was to use the second monitor to work on as i watched to tv... This is the only thing i found that did not work so far but in saying that it is not worthing buying as it doesn't give full usage to the device... If you just need to view things on a different screen like photos or maybe documents it would work just fine... Thank you if you have read my review and i hope this helps anyone that reads it.

While converting a naturally HDMI display signal to VGA may seem like blasphemy to some, some displays and large screen TVs are still out there requiring a VGA connection. I originally purchased an HDMI to VGA converter with one end plugging into my MacBook's HDMI output and the other to the VGA connector but, for some reason, that did not work. I've used the lightning bolt to VGA converter with several different VGA screens now and it's worked every time.

I got this to convert VGA to Mini Display. The packaging said it would, and the ports and stuff on the device suggested it would do it, but it wasn't until I plugged a VGA cord into the female end of this adapter and plugged the male end into the Mini Display on my laptop that I discovered that this device does exactly what it is marketed to do. Would maybe prefer it to be black, but ultimately I don't really care.

I bought this adapter because we needed a second one and it was a few bucks cheaper than the one made by Apple. While the Insignia adapter works, it does not do so as well as the Apple one we have in the house. Specifically, I have noticed that on my external monitor the image is a tiny but blurry and the blacks do not come through as well as they do with the Apple made adapter. It still works fine with a lower resolution projector, though. It is also worth noting that this cable is about twice as long as Apple's.
