My favorite cleaning buddy!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great cleaning bot with a lot of smarts. Note the i7 will give you a scare the first few times you run it in your home. Not because there was a problem with how it cleans but how much it picks up. I was totally shocked when it returned home with a full bin error and I found the bin fully packed. The cleaning paths are detailed and thorough. The speed of the cleaning edge brush is not as fast as older models which helps to stop the bot from spreading the dust and materials around allowing it to clean more efficiently. The smart mapping is awesome in conjunction with smart assistants like Google. I can't tell you how many times I see a mess caused by the kiddos and quickly ask Google to "vacuum the living room" only to hear the little chime of my i7 as it comes to life. I love the scheduling ability of this vacuum as well and if you really want to use this feature to its fullest schedule it to clean the kids room in the morning as a roaming alarm clock ;). Draw backs if you have deep shag carpets this may not work for you and if I had to purchase this again I would just get it with the clean base ( I purchased the self empty base separately). However those areas can, with recent updates, create keep out zones in the app allowing the robot to avoid these areas. Maintenance for this bot is reasonable and most replacement parts can easily be found on Amazon for cheap.

Awesome creature, with a personality
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little Guy is oddly entertaining to watch which ironically defeats the purpose of having it! If I have time to watch it then I have time to get up and do it myself, but I don't care! Anyways this vacuum is everything I'd hoped it'd be. Its quiet and very thorough. and true to I robots claim it learns it's area and barely taps permanently placed items in your house after a couple of cycles. It does not crash into hardly anything and hasn't fallen down the stairs. I have all laminate floors so they get dirty quickly and it gets everything in one run and has no issues going over my various rugs and door mats. I feel blessed to have this fine piece of machinery in my home, just buy it already! you wont regret it.

Works for a family (adults, kids, pets)
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this has become a much appreciated and loved item in our home!! Initially, we just wanted it to spot clean the home to keep up with our foot traffic (adults, young child, long haired dog). That said, after seeing how much dirt it keeps coming up with, we have kept it on a schedule of vacuuming everyday. Every single day we fill up the bin full of fur and dirt and we are a pretty clean family! You can schedule times for it to run, label your rooms and do new jobs to any room, view the worst dirt spots on the app, etc! When we had family visiting and things were scattered everywhere, we turned the schedule off and severely missed it! It cannot vacuum the downstairs of our home on one charge (1800 sq ft approximately). It takes 2 charges, but since it returns to home on its own, I don’t have to do anything during that timeframe. My only complaint is the small bin size! However, with the vacuum being the size that it is, I don’t know how much it could be improved. Since we vacuum daily, we have to empty it daily. If you didn’t have a pet, this likely wouldn’t be as large of an issue. Overall, I have no large complaints! It vacuums in a methodical pattern, has pretty good suction, doesn’t miss much, always returns to its charging dock on its own, maps the home really well, has an app, and does the job!

Great Vacuum Except Fragile Roller Brushes
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased the I7 after seeing our daughter's Roomba 960 in action. We liked the ease of setting it up and getting the maps created as well as the cleaning results we saw from the i7. We discovered that it has on weakness, though; the rubber used in the manufacture of the two roller brushes is too soft and is damaged easily by long fibers/hair that it picks up while vacuuming. The fibers cut through the rubber, severing them all the way through about an inch from one end of each roller. We had to replace both of them once within a month of buying the unit and now, six weeks later it looks like we will probably have replace them again. At $50 per set, we are very disappointed in the quality of that portion of the machine.

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sadly, everything about it was nice, except pet hair performance. After doing a lot of research we decided on the i7+. While the first two weeks were extremely frustrating waiting for the vacuum to learn the layout, once the learning process was done we have been extremely happy. The biggest mistake we made was being impatient and wanting to rush the learning process. Ultimately that led to having to start all over again because we started naming rooms to be able to use directed cleaning before the Smart Map matched our layout. We were more patient the second time around and while the map is not a perfect match, it's close enough that the vacuum cleans everywhere without any problems. In the 3 weeks we've had the vacuum running we have had one clog (nerf dart) and one "stuck" event. The vacuum cleans our highly used areas every day (family room, dining room, kitchen and entry) and then the bedrooms and bathrooms once each week. If we notice any particular room is dirty/dusty we will just have that room cleaned on demand, which is easy to do from the Phone app. With our schedule we never have to wait for the vacuum to recharge during the middle of a cleaning, which was an initial frustrating during the learning process. While there is definitely room for improvement with things like being able to update the Smart Map more easily after initial learning, all things considered this was a good purchase and one I would make again knowing what I know now.

This robot sucks!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have programs it to run every morning before my family awakes and like clockwork I come downstairs to see new patterns every morning. This is my third robot, and it’s the best so far. It can be programmed to run certain rooms, or just do the whole house. This is the first iRobot that is making row by row passes unlike the wifi Sams club special that is connected to the web and bumps all over the place like the first generation models. I don’t know about anyone else but chaos is unnerving while there is a newly recognizable pattern (I mow my yard the same way lol) that makes my day a little more sane as my wife has 2 cats and 1 dog supported by our two 5 year old twin boys. #lildukes I did notice that it will not clean if the bin is full or almost full, so I have to ask the wife to empty it, yet the program will tell you to empty the bin as well. I didn’t get the tower yet, I’ve been told it’s not worth it, but maybe for Christmas!

I love my two i7 Roombas!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the i7 Roomba. This is my second i7.......it’s easy to operate, even for an older woman! I bought the first i7 two years ago. I have both Roomba’s set up on my iPhone and I can vacuum the sunken den and upper floor at the same time, from anywhere! The Roomba’s really help me keep my floors clean. I have a blonde lab who sheds a lot........and it’s amazing how much dog hair and dander it picks up. It also vacuums under beds and sofas. I clean the rubber brushes when they get dirty and replace the filter and edge sweeping brushes as needed. My two i7 Roomba’s really make my life a lot easier!

Q: QuestionIf you purchase the i7 can you add the auto empty feature at a later date?
Asked by FAB.
- A:Answer Yes, this is what we did. Highly recommend getting the clean base upfront. If you don’t, when you buy the clean base as an accessory item, it comes with a new bin that you put on your bot in place of the factory bin. The special bin has a “trap door” that the clean base sucks the dirt out of. Short answer, when you buy the clean base after the fact it comes with everything needed for the i7 bot to work with it.

Q: QuestionDoes the roomba i7 work with 220v?
Asked by Agus.
- A:Answer The Roomba i7 is compatible with 220 voltage. However, you should avoid purchasing a Roomba for use outside of the country as this voids the warranty.

Q: QuestionDoes the I7 have the ability to skip certain rooms? My formal dining room has a delicate rug that I do not want vacuumed. Once the house is mapped, can I exclude the dining room for the normal cleaning routine?
Asked by Danno.
- A:Answer Once the i7 has mapped the house, you can choose certain rooms to be cleaned at a time. However, the i7 does come with a "virtual barrier" device in the box that you can put batteries in and when activated will tell the i7 to avoid that room or area.

Q: Questionis the roomba I7 work with tiled floors?? if not wich is better for that type of floor? and mop? or I have to get another robot
Asked by roomba.
- A:Answer The Roomba i7 works great on tile or carpeting. It transitions from tile to carpeting very well - I love it!
Answered by Goldie
Q: QuestionThis model says it maps the rooms and learns the layout of your home. Does that mean it can only be used on one floor? I was hoping to use it on other levels of the house,
Asked by Vic.
- A:Answer No. It can map multiple floors and save them. I have 3 maps saved on mine corresponding to the 3 floors in my house. You can name the different maps and the different rooms as well and ask it to clean a particular room or the whole map.

Q: Questionwhat is the adapter/device/charger input voltage and frequency? is it 110~120v 50/60 hrz or 110-240v 50/60 hrz?
Asked by irobot.

Q: QuestionI'm wondering if the Roomba i7 7150 is strictly for carpeted floors or if it works with Laminate and hardwood floors! Thank you in advance for answering. I found out the 960 is compatible for Laminate/hardwood, but like the emptying device on this one.
Asked by ELTW.
- A:Answer The Roomba i7 is for both carpeted and laminate/hardwood floors. It works equally well on all floor types. We are very happy with its performance regardless of floor type.

Q: QuestionI have oriental rugs with fringe. Will the iRobot have problems with the fringe?
Asked by Grossmutter.
- A:Answer I have the Roomba i7 and oriental rugs with fringes of varying lengths in the living room, dining room, family room, den, and two halls. The i7 appears to have no problems with short fringes and thus far (4 cleanings) no damaging issues with longer (2 to 3 inch) fringes other than messing them up. By messing them up, I mean that it doesn't leave all the fringes laying flat and pointed in the same direction (tangled is a little too strong). It hasn't "eaten" any fringes or pulled any loose. Before purchasing, I read a number of reviews that commented on fringes. It appeared to me that the comments improved over time as Roomba improved its models. Early models appear to have had more issues with fringes than the current models; however, this is merely my subjective interpretation of the comments based on the age of the articles or reviews and the models being reviewed. Because the unit is programmable, once I'm confident it has mapped the house correctly, I will probably program it to attempt to avoid long fringes on two of the rugs. To achieve the desired appearance of the fringes, it is necessary to flip the rug up and back a couple of times. This is true when I vacuum with an upright vacuum anyway, so not a big deal to me.
